ABU DHABI (WAM)Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Patron of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), honoured five recipients of the ADMAF Awards along with 22 graduates of the Young Media Leaders (YML) career development programme, which aims to strengthen the capacity of the UAE's next generation of creative industry professionals and strengthen their role in shaping the UAE's cultural and media landscape.Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said: 'We are pleased today to participate in this honourable celebration of a group of prominent media and cultural leaders. This occasion affirms our unwavering commitment to strengthening the position of youth in various development sectors and embodies our enlightened vision of investing in people as the true wealth of our nation. "As we honour this distinguished group of our youth, we honour ambition, merit, and giving, and celebrate the success stories that tell the story of the UAE in its ongoing pursuit of progress and leadership.'He added: "The year 2025, in which we celebrate the values of the Year of Community, represents an important occasion to consolidate the meanings of social cohesion, strengthen national solidarity, create sustainable spaces for dialogue and joint action, and transfer expertise between generations to preserve and develop our cultural heritage.'He continued: 'The pioneering initiatives and effective strategic partnerships undertaken by the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) directly contribute to the development of a new generation of Emirati youth capable of expressing national identity through art, culture and modern media.'In the UAE, we view culture, media, and the arts as tools for human development, messages of peace, and means to strengthen identity and build bridges with peoples around the world. Dana Alkatheeri from Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi received the award for her project The Founder's Legacy. The young artist's debut original composition reflects her deep respect for her country and serves as a tribute to the environmental legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.The Gulf Capital – ADMAF Visual Arts Award 2024 was presented to Abdulla Alneyadi of UAE University for his art installation Eternal Gateways, which blends architecture and sculpture to promote themes of unity and inclusivity. His winning piece draws inspiration from the traditional metal gates of UAE neighborhoods, symbolising both community and craftsmanship.Highlighting the importance of eco-conscious design, the TotalEnergies Sustainability Design Award 2024 was awarded to Tasneem Albaiti and Alreem Alameri from Zayed University for their innovative project Graphic Design's Contribution to Environmental Sustainability Through Leaf Waste-Derived Paper in the UAE. Their research explores sustainable alternatives to traditional paper production, focusing on the use of ghaf and palm leaves as eco-friendly substitutes for wood pulp, aiming to reduce environmental impact.
In the field of craftsmanship and cultural heritage, the ADMAF Jewelry Design Award in partnership with L'ÉCOLE Middle East School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels celebrated Shamma Al Hammadi from the University of Sharjah for her jewelry design Al Dana wa Al Khawasa, which draws inspiration from Emirati culture, incorporating the tradition of pearl diving while merging storytelling with exquisite artisanal jewelry technique.

1 June 2025 21:13 DUBAI (ALETIHAD)His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended a major celebration marking the 127th anniversary of Philippine independence 'Kalayaan 2025.'Hosted at Dubai World Trade Centre and organised by the 'Emirates Loves Philippines' platform in collaboration with the Dubai Police, the event brought together over 40,000 members of the Filipino community in the UAE, along with government officials, diplomats, and social and economic figures from the community. Strong and growing UAE–Philippines relationship In his opening speech, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak congratulated the Filipino community on this important national day and said, "I am delighted to be with you this evening to celebrate the 127th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.""On behalf of the people of the United Arab Emirates, I extend our heartfelt congratulations and warmest greetings to the people of the Philippines here and around the world. This day marks not only your independence, but your enduring spirit of resilience, community, and optimism. It is a day of pride, and one you have every reason to celebrate, said His Excellency."He added that the UAE is pleased to call the Philippines a close friend and valued partner. "Across this nation, and across the decades, hundreds of thousands of Filipino people have made their mark. Submissions can be a short story, a poem, a letter, an essay, or another creative expression, and written in either Arabic or English.'He expressed confidence that many of the most moving and powerful entries will come from the Filipino community – from those who arrived with a dream and built a future, from mothers and fathers raising families, from nurses and teachers, from innovators and caregivers, and from artists and engineers.'Your stories matter,' His Excellency emphasised, 'and the rest of us would love to hear from you.'He urged everyone to visit the website and submit their called on the audience, saying, 'Please encourage your families, your children, your co-workers, and your neighbours. Participants can submit entries in various formats—short stories, articles, Nabati and classical poetry, reflections, or letters, focusing on their connection to the UAE's cohesive community and national identity. This initiative aims to strengthen social bonds, promote cultural diversity, and foster pride in the UAE's unique qualities. Selected writings will be published and widely distributed, amplifying voices that embody the UAE's spirit of unity and coexistence, making it a meaningful contribution to community engagement and national pride. Full Day of Celebrations Also speaking at the event, Honourable Hans Cacdac, Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers of the Philippines, added, "Kalayaan not only commemorates our independence but also highlights the strong partnership that enables Filipinos to contribute meaningfully to both nations." Supported by The Philippine Business Council - Dubai and Northern Emirates, Dubai Police, and Dubai Immigration, the event was further distinguished by the attendance of His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate for Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai. 1 June 2025 18:06 SHARJAH (WAM) Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), inaugurated the 15th annual "Six Degrees" graduation exhibition at the Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation exhibition is open to the public and showcases the work of graduating students from the College of Architecture, Art, and Design (CAAD) at exhibition features projects from a wide range of CAAD programmes, including architecture, interior design, design management, multimedia design, visual communication, and urban planning. It provides a vital platform for connecting students with representatives from the UAE's design and creative of College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD,) Dr. Varkki Pallathucheril, emphasised that the exhibition represents the culmination of each student's academic journey, marked by creative exploration, studio work, and professional of SRTI Park, Hussain Al Mahmoudi, highlighted the park's role in hosting the exhibition, underlining its importance in promoting innovation and supporting young designers and architects. He noted that the event demonstrates a commitment to fostering sustainable, human-centered solutions through the collaboration of academia and part of the event, CAAD held its annual awards ceremony, recognising 28 exceptional students and faculty members for academic excellence, creativity, leadership, and service to the AUS year's edition also includes a special showcase by pioneering Emirati artist Dr Najat Makki, who is the 2024–2025 artist-in-residence at AUS. Her selected works, developed during her residency, are featured as a central part of the exhibition, which continues until June 8.
