'Disgusting': Lindsey Graham Called Out Over 'Ugly, Evil' Message On Social Media

Yahoo3 days ago

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) seemed just a little too eager for war as Israel launched airstrikes on Iran early Friday.
'Game on,' he wrote on X. 'Pray for Israel.'
Israel said its strikes targeted Iran's nuclear program, including scientists working on atomic weapons as well as military leaders and missile facilities.
Iran launched drones at Israel in retaliation.
Graham also delivered a warning to Iran not to attack U.S. personnel or interests in the region.
If they do, he wrote, 'America should have an overwhelming response, destroying all of Iran's oil refineries and oil infrastructure putting the ayatollah and his henchmen out of the oil business.'
The messages struck many as Graham cheerleading for war ― and they let him know on X:
It's not a fucking game Lindsey. https://t.co/Bl9teyljaS

Trump should immediately push Russia sanctions, Sen. Blumenthal says

Sen. Richard Blumenthal on Sunday urged President Donald Trump to immediately push for legislation that would ratchet up sanctions against Russia. 'This moment cries out for presidential leadership. There is an urgency here,' the Connecticut Democrat said on CBS' 'Face the Nation.' Speaking in a joint interview with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Blumenthal urged Trump to move quickly: 'I think the president should call on the Senate to vote approval of the Russian sanctions bill literally tomorrow. He's on his way tonight to the G7 meeting. He will be sitting across from world leaders. Right now, very bluntly, the perception may be one of weakness in terms of America's position on Ukraine. He can be there in a position of strength.' A G7 meeting is getting under way in Kananaskis in Alberta, Canada. Graham on Thursday made his case for the sanctions in an op-ed for Fox News. 'We now have over 84 Senate cosponsors and 70 House cosponsors of legislation to enact hard-hitting sanctions and tariffs on Russia and its financial backers,' he wrote. 'It is clear to me and virtually every sponsor of the Russia sanctions bill that the way we deal with Putin will either encourage or deter bad actors.' On Sunday, Graham and Blumenthal also discussed the Israel-Iran war. Both are eager to see any possibility of Iran developing nuclear weapons eliminated. 'I would urge President Trump to go all in to make sure that when this operation is over, there's nothing left standing in Iran regarding their nuclear program. If that means providing bombs, provide bombs,' Graham told host Margaret Brennan. Blumenthal added: 'A nuclear-armed Iran is a unacceptable threat to the world, not just to Israel, but to the United States as well. And I support Israel's right to defend itself against this existential menace. I'm very concerned right now about United States personnel in the region, our servicemen and women, but also the civilians that are there.' The Connecticut Democrat also said the country 'ought to strengthen sanctions against Iran.' Graham seconded that idea. 'I'll be your wingman. We'll write the bill right here on television. China, if you're listening, stop buying Russian oil, and stop helping the Iranians. You make the world a safer place if you would stop,' he told Brennan.

'All-in': GOP lawmakers divided on US involvement as Trump pushes Iran for diplomatic end

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called for the president to go "all-in" for Israel should a diplomatic end to the conflict with Iran not be met. Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump called on Iranian leaders to return to the negotiating table to strike a nuclear deal to avoid "even more brutal" attacks. Graham lauded Trump's desire to bring Iran back to the table but countered that "if Iran refuses this offer, I strongly believe it is in America's national security interest to go all-in to help Israel finish the job." "One of the benefits of this approach is that it would substantially undo the damage done to our reputation by Biden's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan," Graham said on X. "If diplomacy fails, going all-in for Israel shows that America is back as a reliable ally and a strong force against oppression. It would strengthen our hand in all corners of the world, as well as all other conflicts we face." Fetterman Calls For Us To Supply Anything Israel Needs For Iran Attack: 'Military, Intelligence, Weaponry' Read On The Fox News App His zeal to support the Jewish State came before Fox News reported that two U.S. Navy Destroyers, the USS Sullivans and USS Arleigh Burke, were assisting Israel to shoot down incoming missile volleys from Iran. However, other pro-Israel lawmakers were not ready to see American troops deployed in the region and believed Trump would be the key to preventing any action from the U.S. Israel Launches 'Operation Rising Lion' On Iran, Targeting Nuclear Facilities, Tehran "I can't imagine a world in which that happens," Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., told Fox News Digital. "I'd be opposed to that. The president is adamantly opposed to that. I trust President Trump here to keep our troops and other personnel safe in the region." Hawley said Trump "has offered Iran an off-ramp here for a long time" through the nuclear agreement negotiation and noted the president again offered an out. Mccaul Says Israel Strikes Are 'Perfect Opportunity' For Iranians To Overthrow Islamic Regime "You know, they ought to take that off-ramp," he said. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair Jim Risch, R-Idaho, told Fox News Digital in a statement that "no one hates to see U.S. troops put at risk more than our president." "President Trump has worked tirelessly to end wars and stop killing. And, in this case, I know he will continue to do all he can to keep U.S. troops out of harm's way as the war between Israel and Iran unfolds," he said. Israel's strike on Iran was intended to take out the country's nuclear enrichment program and carry out targeted attacks on a number of top Iranian officials. Sen. Tim Sheehy, R-Mont., said the strike was "warranted" given Iran's years of aggression against Israel, but he agreed with the president that negotiations needed to resume. "A regime that chants 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel' can never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon," he said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "Israel has every right to defend itself, and America stands with Israel." But others, like Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., accused Trump of killing the Iran nuclear agreement and contended that the end of negotiations "accelerated Iran's development towards a bomb." Still, he hoped a deal could be made to prevent further "escalation in the region that could endanger American citizens, troops and our interests." "As we support Israel in protecting their people from Iran's response, everyone needs to be focused on de-escalation," Kelly said in a statement. Sen. Lindsey Graham slammed for ‘game on' tweet after Israel bombs Iran

South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham is facing widespread criticism for a tweet he posted following the Israeli strikes on Iran. 'Game on. Pray for Israel,' he wrote on Thursday night. Israel struck bases and nuclear sites in an attack more severe than previous attacks on Iran, with President Donald Trump pushing the country to agree to fresh restrictions on its nuclear program as additional strikes could be 'more brutal.' 'Game? Your soul is lost,' said broadcaster Keith Olbermann in response. 'I have no doubt that you are incredibly turned on right now, Senator. Iranians, who are caught in this mess, deserve your prayers too but I know we are just an afterthought. You're a disgrace,' said journalist Yashar Ali. 'Game? You're disgusting,' Owen Shroyer added. Israel killed a number of Iran's security chiefs, dealing a severe blow to the country's chain of command. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described the attack as a way to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, which is seen as an existential threat by the Israelis. 'A game? You piece of s***,' wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp wrote to Graham. Meghan McCain, the daughter of the late Arizona Senator John McCain, whom Graham admired, added to the criticism, writing, 'It's not a f****** game Lindsey.' 'It isn't a game, Senator. You confirmed a talkshow host SecDef who texts strike plans on unsecured apps,' said Heath Mayo, the founder of the conservative group Principles First. 'You supported a President who thinks Ukraine caused Putin's invasion. You should pray for all of us. We're going to need all the help we can get with amateurs in charge.' 'It's not a game, dip****,' attorney Ron Filipkowski added. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman called for Israel to continue 'wiping out Iranian leadership.' 'Our commitment to Israel must be absolute and I fully support this attack,' he wrote on X late on Thursday. 'Keep wiping out Iranian leadership and the nuclear personnel. We must provide whatever is necessary—military, intelligence, weaponry—to fully back Israel in striking Iran.' While writer Tim Shorrock called Fetterman 'The drooling War Maniac from Pennsylvania,' singer/songwriter John Ondrasik called the senator 'a Lion in a sea of Lemmings' and former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said Fetterman 'is amazing.' 'His support of Israel used to be standard for almost every D in Washington. Now he's a lonely voice, but he remains an amazingly powerful and inspiring voice,' he added.
