Daily Mail5 hours ago

A Death In Paradise star has shared a life-changing diagnosis she is 'still processing' in an emotional post to fans about 'heartache and feeling broken'.
Kimberley Nixon, who plays murdered TV presenter Catrina McVey in series eight of the BBC police drama, shared the news on Instagram earlier this month.
The Welsh actress, 39, told her nearly 300,000 followers she had been diagnosed with autism and ADHD.
Alongside a collage of photos of her crying happy tears, she wrote in the caption of her vulnerable post: 'Happy tears. Still processing.
'I feel lighter than I have in a long time because instead of feeling like my brain is "broken", I know now that it was just doing things differently all this time.'
Fans rushed to the comments section to praise and express their support for Kimberley, also known as Josie in Channel 4 university sitcom Fresh Meat.
The rest of the star's caption read: 'I want to go back in time and give my younger self a cwtch [Welsh for hug] and save her a lot of time and heartache but I can't change anything about how I got here really because then I wouldn't be me.
'I've always shared the ups and downs - so I wanted to share this with the most compassionate and accepting bunch I know - and that's been you lot over these past few years.
'From the midst of brutal postnatal OCD through to today's diagnosis, a lot of you have been with me every step of the way. Thank you, thank you.'
Kimberley has previously spoken out about her experience of the mental health condition after the birth of her first child in 2020.
She told Radio Wales's Books That Made Me With Lucy Owen how natural concerns about her baby's wellbeing spiralled into unmanageable anxiety.
The Pontypridd actress explained: 'Those thoughts - it was like what could happen to him? How can I protect him? - they morphed into what if you're a danger to your baby?...
'I was just convinced that I wasn't doing things right. I wasn't feeding him right. What temperature is he supposed to be?
'Every time he cried I was just sort of shaking - I just got really hyper vigilant and terrified.'

She bravely let her followers in on this experience as she was going through it.
And they, along with her friends and fellow stars, have now praised her on her latest Instagram post for sharing her autism and ADHD diagnoses with them too.
Fellow Fresh Meat star Greg McHugh, who played Howard, commented a heart on the post, as did The Bill actress Georgia Tennant.
Candice Brown, celebrity chef and 2016's winner of The Great British Bake Off, said: 'I'm so pleased for you.'
Meanwhile, satirical news site The Daily Tism commented: 'One of us! Congratulations!'
Autistic content creator Corinne Bryan weighed in: 'Congratulations. The diagnosis for me was the starting point for the rest of my life (and it's only been six months).
'Take time to process, you've got this.'
Ellie Middleton, an influencer who also has autism and ADHD, said: 'Congrats! Welcome to the club.'
Fans, friends and fellow stars rushed to the comments section to praise and express their support for Kimberley
The Maternal Mental Health Alliance charity commented: 'We hope it brings you some self-compassion and understanding.'
They were joined by the All Aboard ADHD podcast account, which said: 'Congratulations and welcome to our world.'
Other commenters were just as encouraging: 'Congratulations on the first day of the rest of your life.';
'Welcome. Go gently with yourself as you adjust to a new inner reality.';
'Congrats! Bet it must feel so relieving to have more answers. I'm autistic and accepting that helped me so much more in my life.';
'Sending you the biggest hug! Thank you for being so wonderful on here and sharing your journey with us all.'
Alongside Death In Paradise and Fresh Meat, Kimberley is well known for her role as vicar's daughter Sophy Hutton in 2007 BBC period drama Cranford.
Based on three Elizabeth Gaskell novellas, it follows life in the titular fictional village in the 1840s.
She later appeared in the 2008 teen comedies Wild Child and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, playing antagonist popular girl Lindsay in the latter.
Kimberley has also starred alongside comedian Chris Ramsey in 2012 BBC comedy series Hebburn.
Set in the fictional titular town in Tyne and Wear, it follows the Pearson family, whose son Jack has secretly married middle-class Jewish woman Sarah on a drunken night in Las Vegas.
Kimberley's latest Instagram post sees her join a troupe of celebrities who have all been courageously vulnerable about their autism and ADHD diagnoses.
Former Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson also has both conditions, diagnosed with them in 2023.
He has regularly spoken out about his experience, posting a clip on Instagram last month, for instance, to try to convey to followers how it affects him.
The video showed two versions of him walking down the street, one to represent himself and the other his ADHD.
It began with the caption: 'You got diagnosed with ADHD in your late twenties but something still doesn't add up...'
It began with the caption: 'You got diagnosed with ADHD in your late twenties but something still doesn't add up...'
The light-hearted sketch then sees Sam wearing an inflatable dinosaur costume emerge from around the corner, with a beaming smile - to represent his later diagnosis with autism.
Sam then added a text caption, which read: 'Knew there was more to the story'
In 2024, Sam became the official ambassador of ADHD UK after he was diagnosed aged 30 - and has previously called the condition his 'superpower' several times.
I'm A Celebrity winner Sam said he is trying to 'encourage conversation around the topic' to help change people's minds on how people view ADHD.
Sharing his new role with followers, Sam wrote on Instagram: 'BIG NEWS! I am so honoured to announce that I am now an official ambassador of @ADHDUK.CO.UK.
'As many of you know, this is a cause very close to my heart.'
He continued: 'Changing perceptions of those with ADHD, and encouraging conversation around this topic is and will continue to be a huge and central part of my life.
'This is what I want my legacy to be, above anything else.
'Since I left the jungle, I've met so many children and adults who have come up to me, or contacted me to say I've helped change their minds on how they view ADHD.
'I want to reach as many people as I possibly can, especially young people and show there is such magic in being neurodiverse.
'Yes, there are some very real challenges along the way, but with the right support, it can be a superpower, it can be a blessing and we can achieve all of our dreams.'

Love Island SPOILER: TWO steamy kisses spell disaster as bombshell game of truth or dare leaves couples hanging in the balance

Wednesday night's episode of Love Island sees two steamy kisses spell disaster as a bombshell game of truth or dare leaves couples hanging in the balance. The ITV2 dating show, presented by Maya Jama, has already seen plenty of explosive arguments and steamy antics since its launch earlier this month. And the upcoming episode will be no different, as the drama at The Sleepover continues. Four Islanders - Emily, Helena, Remell and Dejon - headed off from the main villa in yesterday's instalment for a night away with four new bombshells. They will soon be getting to know the newbies a lot better during a risque game of truth or dare. Remell is dared to kiss an Islander of his choice and he leans in for Poppy. But she later leans in for Dejon, when asked to kiss the person she is most attracted to, other than who she selected to come to The Sleepover. Helena is then soon invited to get into her favourite sex position with Giorgio. Caprice and Dejon share a snog after he is dared to kiss who he is most attracted to - and they both rate it a ten out of ten. When Remell is put in a tricky position, and asked if he would choose Poppy or his current partner Alima at a recoupling, he hesitates - before saying Poppy. As he debriefs the dramatic game with Dejon around the firepit, he says: 'I'm loving the chats with Poppy - flirty, chill… 'I don't want to leave with regrets which is why I'm giving Poppy the time of day.' Dejon reminds him: 'You've got to look long term… whoever you see a long term future with, that's the one you pursue.' He soon airs his own feelings about bombshell with Caprice, as his long-running partner Meg remains back at the main villa: 'What me and Caprice have could be something good but what me and Meg have is something special.' Remell soon makes his move on Poppy as they relax on the sunbeds: 'I've been comfy around you, it's the first time in the villa that I've felt like this so it's telling me something.' After some intense eye contact, they share a steamy kiss - but whether Remell's head is turned for good remains to be seen. Meanwhile, the fallout from Megan's kiss with Conor continues, after they shared the smooch during last night's episode. She recoupled with Tommy on Monday but he was dismayed as she continued to explore a connection with Conor. Megan and Tommy had a row over her flirtation with Conor which left Tommy crying - but soon after, she kissed Conor on the terrace. In tonight's episode, Megan shares news of the kiss with Meg and Alima: 'I kissed Conor on the terrace… 'I was like, "Just f***ing kiss me then…". He was itching to do it.' Meg wonders if Conor has told any of the boys, to which Megan responds: 'He said he wasn't going to. 'I don't regret it though, I don't think I've done anything wrong. I'm not Tommy's girlfriend.' Megan soon pulls Tommy for a chat at The Den to discuss everything that went down, including fellow Islander Harry trying to warn Tommy about her interest in Conor. He begins: 'The thing that annoyed me... in bed, we were talking about Harry and I said, "Look, Megan I do believe you"... I felt really down about what happened.' She replies: 'I don't think you realise how much you upset me … for you to be like, "I don't know", because Harry told you something… you can't take my word for it. 'Well, obviously, I spoke to him on the terrace earlier and we did kiss.' Tommy responds: 'You did kiss, yeah? OK, cool.' She says: 'It's nothing against you but I'm here to explore connections... I didn't have to come and tell you this but I do like you so I am telling you.' As their relationship looks to be going on the rocks, Megan and Conor catch up after their kiss, first discussing his partner Emily. Megan asks: 'How are you gonna deal with the Emily situation?' He replies: 'I'll just tell her, "You know, you've been away a couple of days and you knew I was getting to know Megan and we had a kiss on the terrace".' She responds, slightly worried: 'She's not going to expect that at all… I don't think she expects it from me.' As Emily was also chosen for The Sleepover, Megan continues: 'For all you know, she could come back with one of those two boys… that would make it easier.' Back at The Sleepover, Maya makes a shock entrance - to the complete surprise of the Islanders there. She asks them: 'Having some time away has allowed you to explore new connections but are these connections stronger than what you have with your current partner?' In an ominous reminder, the host adds: 'Actions have consequences.' It comes after Shakira revealed to Harry what Megan had told her about her developing connection with Conor in last night's episode. Back at The Sleepover, Maya (left, with the four new bombshells) makes a shock entrance - to the complete surprise of the Islanders there Shakira told him: 'With Conor, there's sexual chemistry there, maybe not with Tommy but it's growing… '[Megan] said maybe if they would've been coupled up from day one, it would've been a bit different…' Harry then went on to spill the information to Tommy who confronted Conor about how he handled the situation. 'I just think you've been a little bit disrespectful in how you've gone about it', Tommy said. But Conor disagreed, hitting back: 'I don't need to ask your permission before I go in to ask someone who's single where their heads at.' Tommy later had a conversation with Megan, asking: 'Apparently. you were saying you've got way more sexual chemistry with Conor and the thought of a recoupling with him made you buzzing?' Megan denied the claims, arguing: 'What? No! 'There is more sexual tension with Conor because I've not explored anything with him… why the f*** would you believe what Harry said?' Shakira (right) told Harry (left): 'With Conor, there's sexual chemistry there, maybe not with Tommy but it's growing… The disagreement seemed to leave a sour taste as the following morning, Tommy still felt strongly about the situation and had to be consoled by Ben and Harry. Meanwhile, Megan and Conor took the opportunity to develop their romance further and headed to the terrace as Tommy watched. Conor cheekily asked: 'If there was a recoupling right now, who would you recouple with?' Megan made the shocking admission: 'Yesterday, it would've been Tommy but I'm raging with him so today it's you.' She added: 'I wanna get to know you.' Meanwhile, the Islanders left behind at the main villa were reeling as Helena, Emily, Remell and Dejon headed off to The Sleepover with the bombshells. Meg, who has shared a rocky relationship with Dejon so far, commented: 'I've lost my man again.' Alima admitted: 'I'm actually nervous… 'Because we have been taking it so slow, I'm just scared that if someone comes in, gives him exactly what he wants straight away, and that's it.' But Meg seemed to have nothing to fear, as Dejon was soon quizzed about her: 'It's good, we've had a few tests… then we've come out the other side… that's my Meg man.' Bombshell Caprice teased though: 'That's interesting… things can change.'

Lord Alan Sugar savagely mocks Roman Kemp's 'weird' haircut as he compares it to a 'dead beaver' in unlikely feud - and the presenter has a very apt response

Lord savagely mocked Roman Kemp's haircut as they became embroiled in a very unlikely feud. The Apprentice boss, 78, kicked off the lighthearted war of words when he shared a post to X, sharing his unfiltered thoughts on Roman's look after watching him on The One Show. He penned: 'What a weird haircut Roman Kemp has. I know I am a bit old and out of touch with some things, but what is it. @BBCTheOneShow (sic).' However, Roman didn't shy away from responding to the criticism as he penned: 'I've no idea on the true name Lord Sugar, please feel free to suggest one.' Lord Sugar then doubled down on his verdict as he brutally replied: 'Dead beaver Davy Crocket,' with Roman responding with a string of laughing face emojis. Roman took the criticism in his stride as he took to Instagram to share screenshots of Lord Sugar's words, alongside the caption: 'Well... we've peaked. My hairs now been fired (sic).' The radio presenter also shared a cheeky throwback photograph of Lord Sugar as he seemed to mock the businessman's own choice of hairdos over the decades. Despite Roman taking the criticism well, his fans flocked to the comments section to voice their support. Comments included: 'RIP hair. I think it looks great'; 'He only wishes he was as handsome as you at your age'; 'I'd take it as a compliment that he's so bothered'; 'OMG HOW RUDE. Nothing wrong with your hair xx.' Lord Sugar's remarks come after he recently spilled the beans on his future on The Apprentice after claiming 'hard graft has gone from the UK'. In March, the business magnate revealed he has committed to the beloved BBC show for three more years. The Amstrad founder, who has been leading the show since 2005, remarked he still has the eye to spot the best and worst candidates to receive his eye-watering prize. 'Listen, when I took the job on of The Apprentice, I was already a multi-millionaire,' he explained to the BBC. 'I didn't do it for the money.' Previously speaking to MailOnline, Lord Sugar told: 'Work ethic has changed in my lifetime and in my opinion, I think it's getting too relaxed. 'I blame companies like Google for example that have beds, and they allow people to turn up at 11am so they can detox from boozing the night before and lay in a little pod somewhere and then pop out at about 3pm and do their two minutes of genius. 'And then go and have the free lunch and dinner laid on for them. Hard graft has gone in my view.' The political advisor and author stressed he doesn't intend to change his work ethics or method, after insisting taking a two-hour lunch break wasn't 'in his culture'. He added: 'Anybody working for me that wants a two-hour lunch break to go to the gym, I'm afraid to say they will have to stay on the treadmill for the rest of the day ... It's not my culture and I might be wrong.'
