India enters top 100 in UN's global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) rankings for first time

India has for the first time secured a place among the top 100 out of 167 countries ranked for their progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), according to a report published on Tuesday. According to the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network 's 10th and latest Sustainable Development Report (SDR), India ranks 99th on the 2025 SDG Index with a score of 67, while China ranks 49th with 74.4 and the US 44th with 75.2 points. India ranked 109th in 2024, 112th in 2023, 121st in 2022, 120th in 2021, 117th in 2020, 115th in 2019, 112th in 2018 and 116th in 2017. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like "No.1 Swing Trader Mr. Hemant Reveals His Winning Strategy for Free! India's maritime neighbours, Maldives and Sri Lanka, stood at 53rd and 93rd places, respectively. Live Events The SGDs were adopted in 2015 with the idea that to save the planet, no one should be left behind in the overall development matrix by 2030. The score measures progress on a scale of 0 to 100 where 100 indicates a country has achieved all 17 goals and 0 means no progress has been made. The report's authors flagged that SDG progress has stalled at the global level, with only 17 per cent of the 17 targets projected to be achieved by 2030. "Conflicts, structural vulnerabilities and limited fiscal space impede SDG progress in many parts of the world," said the report, with world-renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs as its lead author. European countries , especially the Nordic nations, continue to top the SDG Index, with Finland ranking first, Sweden second and Denmark third. A total of 19 out of the top 20 countries are in Europe. Yet even these countries face significant challenges in achieving at least two goals, including those related to climate and biodiversity, largely due to unsustainable consumption, the authors said. East and South Asia have outperformed all other global regions in terms of SDG progress since 2015 largely due to rapid socioeconomic development. The countries in East and South Asia that have demonstrated the fastest progress since 2015 (in points) include Nepal (+11.1), Cambodia (+10), the Philippines (+8.6), Bangladesh (+8.3) and Mongolia (+7.7). The other countries showing rapid progress among their peers include Benin (+14.5), Peru (+8.7), the United Arab Emirates (+9.9), Uzbekistan (+12.1), Costa Rica (+7) and Saudi Arabia (+8.1). Though only 17 per cent of the targets are on track to be achieved worldwide, most UN member states have made strong progress on targets related to access to basic services and infrastructure, including mobile broadband use (SDG 9), access to electricity (SDG 7), internet use (SDG 9), under-five mortality rate (SDG 3) and neonatal mortality (SDG 3). Five targets show significant reversals in progress since 2015. These are obesity rate (SDG 2), press freedom (SDG 16), sustainable nitrogen management (SDG 2), the Red List Index (SDG 15) and the Corruption Perceptions Index (SDG 16). The report said the top three countries most committed to the UN multilateralism are Barbados (1), Jamaica (2) and Trinidad and Tobago (3). Among G20 nations, Brazil (25) ranks highest, while Chile (7) leads among the OECD countries. The United States, which recently withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization (WHO) and formally declared its opposition to the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, ranks last (193rd) for the second year in a row. The report, which comes ahead of the fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Seville, Spain, (June 30-July 3) noted the global financial architecture (GFA) is broken. "Money flows readily to rich countries and not to the emerging and developing economies (EMDEs) that offer higher growth potential and rates of return. At the top of the agenda at FfD4 is the need to reform the GFA so that capital flows in far larger sums to the EMDEs," it said.

Commodity Radar: Gold tumbles Rs 1,700/10 grams; 5 key indicators support ‘sell on rise' call

Gold fell sharply on Tuesday following US President Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran . Domestic prices declined in line with international trends. August MCX gold contracts fell by Rs 1,700 or 1.7%, while COMEX gold contracts hovered near $3,347.80 per troy ounce, down by $47.20 or 1.39%. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Invest today with in Shriram's ULIP Shriram Life Insurance Undo "Notwithstanding the current profit booking, geopolitics and tariffs keep the risk premium elevated, and gold remains supported by the Israel-Iran escalation and U.S. tariff uncertainty," said Jateen Trivedi, Vice President and Research Analyst – Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities. However, optimism stemming from US economic stability and potential progress in tariff talks with the EU and China keeps upward pressure in check. While safe-haven demand persists, it is not aggressive, Trivedi added. Tech view Live Events 1) Key support & resistance Resistance levels -- Immediate supply zone: Rs 99,250–Rs 99,300 -- Strong resistance and SL reference for bearish setup: 1,01,000 Support Levels: -- Near-term support: Rs 98,000 -- EMA cluster and key mid-term base: Rs 96,500 -- Trend-defining level: Rs 95,000 Failure to hold above Rs 98,000 can trigger deeper pullback toward Rs 96,500. Unless Rs 99,300 is broken decisively, a 'Sell on Rise' strategy looks favorable. 2) RSI (14): 58.54 – Sluggish Momentum RSI at 58.5 signals mild bullishness but with weakening momentum. The indicator failed to retest the overbought zone and has flattened, which implies a likely pause or retracement phase. 3) Narrowing bollinger bands Suggests range formation gold remains inside the upper half of the Bollinger band but is now drifting sideways. The bands are converging, indicating lower volatility and probable consolidation or reversal unless a breakout occurs. 4) Moving averages: EMA 8 & EMA 21 show bearish convergence risk -- EMA 8 (Red): RS 98,900 -- EMA 21 (Yellow): Rs 96,500 Price is hovering above both EMAs but has started showing loss of momentum. A close below Rs 98,800 could initiate short-term pressure toward Rs 97,500–Rs 96,500 zone. 5) MACD: Not displayed, but previous histogram weakness Based on recent histogram behavior, MACD has shown flattening with declining bullish momentum. No fresh bullish crossover supports the 'sell on rise' view near resistance. Rupee factor – bias weak The rupee remains vulnerable due to FII uncertainty driven by global tension and domestic political concerns. Weak rupee supports MCX gold prices even when COMEX remains steady, Trivedi said. Gold trading strategy Sell on rise near Rs 99,000–Rs 99,250 Stop-Loss: Rs 1,01,000 on a closing basis Target Zones: -- Target 1: Rs 98,000 -- Target 2: Rs 96,500 -- Extended Target: Rs 95,000 if global tensions ease and US data comes in strong. Elon Musk's Tesla Robotaxis in trouble after debut in Austin: Here's why

Tesla, owned by Elon Musk , has launched its Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas. But soon after the launch, federal safety officials contacted the company following videos that appeared to show the self-driving cars breaking traffic rules. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) told TechCrunch that it is looking into the incidents. The agency said it has reached out to Tesla to collect more details. As mentioned above, this comes just one day after Tesla launched its limited robotaxi service in South Austin. The company is offering rides to invited users in vehicles powered by its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software, which is designed to operate without direct driver control. What NHTSA said about Tesla Robotaxis violating traffic rules 'NHTSA is aware of the referenced incidents and is in contact with the manufacturer to gather additional information,' the company said in a statement. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo 'NHTSA will continue to enforce the law on all manufacturers of motor vehicles and equipment, in accordance with the Vehicle Safety Act and our data-driven, risk-based investigative process. Under U.S. law, NHTSA does not pre-approve new technologies or vehicle systems — rather, manufacturers certify that each vehicle meets NHTSA's rigorous safety standards, and the agency investigates incidents involving potential safety defects. Following an assessment of those reports and other relevant information, NHTSA will take any necessary actions to protect road safety.' Tesla robotaxi vehicles currently operate with a human 'safety monitor' in the front passenger seat but are intended to drive without input. Tesla has not disclosed technical details of the unsupervised FSD software used in the robotaxis. Several videos posted online show troubling behavior. In one clip, a Tesla robotaxi swerves into the wrong lane. In another, it appears to drive over the speed limit. Author and Tesla critic Ed Niedermeyer captured footage of two Tesla robotaxis unexpectedly braking while driving past parked police vehicles. The video has since been posted on YouTube. NHTSA noted that under U.S. law, it does not pre-approve new vehicle technologies. Instead, manufacturers must certify their systems meet safety standards. The agency investigates potential defects and can take enforcement action if needed. Colourful Beats Cables! Find perfect match for your iPhone
