OneChangi NDP 2025 participant dies after collapsing during rehearsal at the Padang
A participant in this year's National Day Parade (NDP) collapsed and died during a rehearsal held at the Padang on the morning of 21 June 2025. The man, 47, was part of the OneChangi contingent, representing Changi Airport Group (CAG) in the parade's ceremonial segment. According to a joint statement released by the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) and CAG, the man collapsed at 11:23am near the conclusion of the rehearsal. On-site medical personnel responded immediately, transferring him to a medical post by 11:26am. At the medical post, a duty medical officer began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) without delay. Despite sustained efforts, the man remained unresponsive. By 11:42am, he was transferred into a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) ambulance stationed on standby at the event. He was transported swiftly to Singapore General Hospital (SGH), arriving there at 11:57am. Medical staff continued resuscitative efforts en route and after arrival. Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at 12:19pm. Mindef and CAG confirmed that they are in close contact with the man's family and are offering full support during this difficult period. 'Changi Airport Group and the NDP 2025 Executive Committee are in contact with the family and providing full support during this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences to the family,' the statement read. The man was later identified by his younger brother in a public Facebook post as Muhammad Adzri bin Abd Adziz. He was reportedly serving as a uniformed auxiliary police officer with CISCO at Changi Airport. In the Facebook post, his brother recounted the events, confirming that Adzri fainted during the late morning rehearsal. He shared that the authorities had confirmed the matter as a State Coroner's case, with an official investigation ongoing to determine the exact cause of death. The family was informed that all relevant paramedic and hospital emergency reports would be reviewed, and preliminary findings were expected by 10am on 22 June. Funeral arrangements were being prepared, with plans to bring Adzri back to the family home at Block 424 Tampines Street 41 for a burial scheduled between the Muslim prayer times of Zuhur and Asar on Sunday.
