NSG, NDRF deployed as devotees gather in Puri for Jagannath Rath Yatra
A sea of devotees gathered in Puri on Friday to witness the world-famous Jagannath Rath Yatra, as Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, embarked on the ceremonial journey from the Shri Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple.
All rituals related to the Rath Yatra are being conducted as per schedule amid heightened security arrangements, with coordinated efforts from multiple security forces and district authorities.
Speaking to ANI about the arrangements, Puri District Magistrate Siddharth Swain said, "...The yatra route is full of devotees. All rituals related to the Rath Yatra will be conducted on time. Police have been deployed since last night. This time, NDRF has also been deployed... Yesterday, we removed illegal 6-7 drones. Flying of drones over Shri Jagannath Temple and the Gundicha temple is not allowed."
A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been stationed in Puri as a precautionary measure due to the high footfall and scale of the event.
NDRF Deputy Commandant Naveen Rana said, "Our personnel are trained to handle all situations, including any medical emergency, structure collapse or any other. We had conducted four mock drills along with the District Administration here."
The yatra drew lakhs of devotees, many of whom had travelled from different parts of the country and abroad to to witness the grand chariots of the three deities, Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balabhadra, and sister goddess Subhadra, at the Gundicha temple, where the deities reside for a week and then return to Jagannath temple.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended a heartfelt welcome to devotees on the occasion of the annual Rath Yatra, urging them to participate with utmost faith and devotion.
In his message, CM Majhi said, "Join the Rath Yatra with faith and devotion, witness the divine glimpse of Mahaprabhu atop the chariot, and receive His blessings.

'Decision is disturbing, arbitrary,' says Malayalam film federation official on Janaki Vs State of Kerala, Censor Board row
Kochi (Kerala) [India], June 27 (ANI): General Secretary of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), B Unnikrishnan on Friday termed as "distrurbing" and "arbitrary," the alleged demand of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to the makers of 'Janaki vs State of Kerala' to change the name of both the film and its title character. Producers of 'Janaki Vs State of Kerala' (JSK) starring Union Minister Suresh Gopi and directed by Pravin Narayanan have approached the Kerala High Court regarding the alleged unofficial directive from the CBFC. FEFKA General Secretary Unnikrishnan told ANI, "We are also not very sure or clear about the issue regarding JSK, the film JSK. But from our conversation with the director, what we understand is that the CBFC is very keen that the name of the protagonist (played by Anupama Parameswaran), that is Janaki be changed to something else. They have some problem with the connotations of the name Janaki." However, Unnikrishnan said the film, according to its director, does not contain any specific religious reference or allusions. "The film doesn't have any specific religious reference or allusions, according to the director. So this decision is really disturbing and is very arbitrary. We are trying to figure out what exactly is the take of CBFC. We expect that they will furnish a show cause in the Honourable High Court this afternoon. After going through, after perusal of that document, we will take appropriate steps and address the issue properly," sad Unnikrishnan. The FEFKA General Secretary also expressed disappointment with the alleged "random takes" on films from the last couple of years. He said that they are ready to address and discuss such a problem with the authorities and the government. "Our collective has serious issues with such random takes on films. This keeps happening for the last couple of years. So we need to address this issue at length and speak with authorities, and speak with the government. We, our members, should have proper guidelines to rely on. The guidelines, what we have now, are very generalised. And the members can interpret those guidelines at their will. So I think the guidelines should be more focused, specific and clear," he said. Unnikrishnan further said that FEFKA and South Eastern Film Critic Association (SEFCA) are planning to plead in the petition filed by JSK in the High Court, however, he said "it's a little too early for that." He said, "We are planning to plead in the petition to be filed by the producer in the High Court. Both SEFCA and the Kerala Film Producers Association. So that is a very symbolic protest. We want to address this issue in the public domain and also initiate a discussion on this public domain. So that is a very symbolic protest which is going to happen on Monday. We had a discussion with almost all political parties. And they all feel that this issue was quite unfortunate. Hopefully, in the next week or something we can take those discussions forward. New Delhi [India], June 27 (ANI): Hailing the all-party delegation which travelled to 33 different countries as part of India's global outreach program following Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is a matter of 'great pride' for him as the country's interest is put first. EAM Jaishankar mentioned that he saw unity among members of the multi-party delegations which went around the world and spoke in the 'national interest'. He mentioned that India gave a message to the world that terrorism is 'not acceptable' and if it continues, the nation has the 'right' to defend itself. 'I have a great sense of pride when i see Parliamentary delegations lead by Shashi Tharoor, Supriya Sule, Kanimozhi, Sanjay Jha, Jay Panda, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Shrikant Shinde, but when I see a unity among all parties going out in the world, speaking in the national interest, giving the message that terrorism is not acceptable and if it continues, we deserve the right to defend ourselves... Every country they went to, they were told that the most impressive part was that all the parties stood united in representing the country. It was a great moment for us', EAM Jaishankar told reporters in New Delhi. S Jaishankar also slammed Congress for the Emergency and stated that it happened in the interest of one family was put forward ahead of the interest of the nation. When Rajnath Singh went to the Defence Ministers' Meeting and there was a discussion on the outcome document, one country said they do not want a reference to that', S Jaishankar told reporters. Terming the views of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh of not signing the outcome document without the mention of terrorism as 'right', the EAM said Rajnath Singh expressed his 'unwillingness' to accept the document. S Jaishankar stated that the SCO runs with unanimity, and as there was no mention of terrorism in the statement, the Defence Minister refused to sign the document. 'Rajnath Singh's view rightly was, without that reference, that when the main purpose of the organisation is to fight terrorism, and you are not allowing a reference to that, he expressed his unwillingness to accept... SCO runs with unanimity. So Rajnath ji clearly said that if there is no mention of terrorism in the statement, we will not sign it', S Jaishankar added. (ANI)

Earlier, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the 'Samman Program for Democracy Fighters on completion of 50 years of Emergency' organised at the Himalayan Cultural Centre, Dehradun. CM Dhami said that the period of Emergency will always be marked as a black chapter in Indian democratic history.
