Two suspected terrorists killed in bomb explosion in Uganda
Kampala, June 3 (UNI) The Ugandan military on Tuesday said it had killed two suspected terrorists who were carrying an explosive device in the capital city.
Chris Magezi, the military spokesman, told Xinhua by telephone that the bomb exploded in the process of intercepting the two suspects.
"One actually was a suicide bomber, a lady," Magezi said, adding that the two were riding a motorcycle in Munyonyo, a suburb of Kampala.

Left parties demand Supreme Court probe into alleged fake encounters of Maoist leaders in Chhattisgarh
Hyderabad, June 7 (UNI) Leaders of various Left parties strongly condemned the alleged custodial killings of Maoist leaders in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district and demanded that all those currently in police custody be produced before a court without delay. They also called for a judicial inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the deaths of top Maoist leaders, including Sudhakar and Suresh. In a joint statement released after a meeting held at the CPI State Office, Makhdum Bhavan on Saturday, Left party leaders alleged that top Maoist cadres held in Bijapur police custody are being systematically executed and falsely declared as killed in encounters under Operation Kagar. They warned that 10 to 20 more leaders in custody could face similar fates if urgent intervention is not taken. The Left parties demanded an immediate halt to Operation Kagar and urged the government to initiate peace talks with the Maoist party instead of continuing with what they termed as a "brutal and inhuman campaign." The meeting was chaired by Pashya Padma (CPI) and attended by Abbas (CPI), Vemulapalli Venkatramaiah and K Govardhan (CPI-ML New Democracy), Vanam Sudhakar (YMPI-U), Teja (SUCI-C), and Janaki Ramulu (RSP), among others. Prominent Left leaders like Koonanneni Sambasiva Rao (CPI), John Wesley (CPM), P. Suryam (CPI-ML New Democracy), Potu Ranga Rao (CPI-ML Mass Line), Gadagoni Ravi (MCPI-U), Prasadanna (CPI-ML), Ch. Tripura: Bangladeshi with Indian tout arrested in Agartala
Agartala, June 7 (UNI) In a joint operation conducted by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Border Security Force (BSF), based on intelligence input arrested two individuals at Agartala railway station for illegal entry into India and attempting to cross the state by train on Saturday. According to GRP, the arrested individuals include one Bangladeshi national and one Indian tout. The Bangladeshi national, identified as Shyamal Chandra Barman (23) from Gaibandha district, Bangladesh, illegally entered India and was accompanied by Abhijit Sarkar alias Prem (32), a resident of Trisha Bari, Teliamura Police Station, Khowai district. The operation was carried out based on confidential information, and during initial interrogation, the duo revealed plans to travel onward to Kolkata by train. The arrested men are currently being interrogated at the Agartala GRP police station. Police officials indicated that further arrests may be imminent as the investigation continues and more information is expected to surface. A case has been registered at the Agartala GRP police station, and the accused are scheduled to be produced before the court on Sunday (tomorrow). UNI BB

Punjab: AAP attacks BJP's Sirsa over his 'tarnished legacy', claims Delhi is in decline under BJP rule
Ludhiana, June 7 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab has attacked BJP leader and Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa over his "baseless accusations" against the Punjab government. AAP leaders Malvinder Kang and Neel Garg attacked Sirsa's for what they described as his "questionable past and the rapid deterioration of governance in Delhi under the BJP's watch". They labelled Sirsa as unfit to preach to Punjabis. Kang minced no words in pointing out Sirsa's role as the OSD to Sukhbir Singh Badal during the decade-long SAD-BJP rule in Punjab. "Everyone knows what that era was about—corruption, the proliferation of drugs, and a complete collapse of governance. Sirsa was not just a bystander; he was a part of that rotten system," Kang said. He also highlighted Sirsa's "alleged misappropriation" of nearly Rs 1 crore of Gurdwara funds, which led to an FIR filed by Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing in 2021. "When the law started catching up, Sirsa didn't turn to BJP out of ideology; he joined them to save himself from jail," Kang asserted. Neel Garg criticised Manjinder Singh Sirsa's role as a Cabinet Minister in Delhi, highlighting the "glaring failures" of the BJP government in just a few months. He pointed to the "severe water crisis brought about by the resurgence of the Tanker Mafia, daily power cuts reminiscent of an era when inverters were essential, and skyrocketing private school fees that have become an unbearable burden for parents". Garg also underlined the "closure of Mohalla Clinics due to staff shortages, the removal of bus marshalls that has compromised women's safety, and the delayed pensions leaving widows and senior citizens in distress". "These failures reflect the BJP's inability to govern and their dismantling of the systems AAP had painstakingly built to serve the people," Garg stated. "The BJP has dismantled everything AAP built in Delhi. The people of Delhi are already regretting their decision and are openly saying, 'We made a mistake, we want AAP back,'' Garg claimed. AAP leaders "reminded Sirsa of his hypocrisy in criticizing Punjab's AAP government while turning a blind eye to his own misdeeds and the BJP's failures". Garg further questioned Sirsa's connection to Punjab, calling him "an opportunist" from Haryana meddling in Punjab's politics.
