Jacksonville Beach Police to hold training, discretion advised
The Jacksonville Beach Police Department will be conducting training on Wednesday, February 12.

The Department's SWAT Team will be training in the 700 block of 10th Street North from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.
As it is a training scenario, there is no active threat to the community. Discretion is advised as there will be several police cars and uniformed officers in the area.

Four young people shot, one dead in Northwest Jacksonville
Three people are in the hospital, and one person is dead following a shooting in Magnolia Gardens. It happened around 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Vista Landing Apartments on Cleveland Road. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, all of the victims are between the ages of 16 and 21. 2 officers, driver injured after crashing into building, police say
Two Ohio police officers and another driver were injured after crashing into each other and then into a building Wednesday night. Former City of Atlanta executive found guilty of accepting millions in bribes resentenced
A judge resentenced disgraced former City of Atlanta executive Mitzi Bickers on Wednesday. A jury convicted Bickers in 2022 of bribery, tied to a pay-for-play scheme. Prosecutors said she accepted millions of dollars from businessmen to secure city contracts. An appeals court voided part of that conviction last year. The judge resentenced her to 12 years in prison. A judge will decide today the total amount of restitution that she will pay.
