Ten wedding guest dresses for under £50 including supermarket steals, dresses to flatter fuller busts & bloated tummies

The Suna day ago

WITH wedding season in full swing, deciding what outfit to wear as a guest isn't always the easiest of shopping tasks.
Not only is there so much choice out there, but some dresses can cost a fortune.
And that's an added cost on top of actually attending the wedding itself.
Luckily the high street is full of options that don't have to break the bank and will still make you look and feel amazing.
From feathered one shouldered gowns, to tummy flattering ruching and dresses to accommodate a fuller bust, Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale has scoured the shops to bring you ten of the best dresses all for under £50.
Tu at Sainsbury's
This red crochet dress from Tu at Sainsbury's is a steal at just £28.
Crochet is great for the summer months as it is cooling, so if you're heading to a hot destination for a wedding this could be a good option.
Wear with some gold accessories to compliment the red and if you want an extra layer add a blazer over the top.
George at Asda
Part of George at Asda's collection with Billie Faiers, this orange satin halterneck dress is floor length with a bow detail at the neck.
Not only will this make you look super expensive, but totally hits the brief for a chic wedding guest dress.
New Look
Empire line dresses are super flattering and look great on those with a fuller bust.
Vogue Williams shows off her wedding outfit
Not only does this New Look dress plunge into a v-neckline, but the lining underneath the bust will hold shape, before flowing over the rest of your body.
This pretty check floral pattern is soft and romantic, plus it has a cut out detail at the back, but it's high enough that you can still wear a bra - result.
H&M
Buy now, £22.99
Ruching is a great technique that looks great and flatters all, especially in areas you may feel more self conscious of.
This H&M dress keeps you cinched in at the waist with its stretchy fabric, the asymmetric element gives Grecian vibes with the gold clasp on the shoulder making this dress look a lot more expensive than its £22.99 price tag.
This is certainly a dress that you'd be comfortable in all day long.
Zara
Nothing screams glam quite like a one shouldered cape dress with a feathered cuff.
And for under £50 - practically unheard of.
This dress from Zara really brings the wow factor and if you're after something that is lightweight, airy and most importantly comfortable for the day, then this ticks all the boxes.
Very
Buy now, £25
Pale yellow is one of the big colours for the season, so why not hop on board the trend for just £25.
The twist front around the bust area makes this a great option for everyone no matter what size you are and the tie straps also make a nice additional detail.
The dress is made from a stretchy ribbed fabric, meaning it won't cling where you don't want it to.
River Island
Wrap style dresses are always a fail safe flattering option for all and this dress from River Island is a new take on the look.
The fabric gathers together at one side, giving the illusion of a wrap dress and the bardot sleeves are also a great way of showing your decolletage and having some of your arm covered if you wish.
Next
Buy now, £36
This puff sleeve floral dress from Next is a great option for a wedding.
As well as the classic navy floral pattern it also comes in a polka dot and a red.
The puff sleeves and empire line detail elevate the dress and also make it flattering at the same time.
A great way to decide what colours to accessorise with is to pick them out from the dress and with plenty of other colours in this look you'll be spoilt for choice.
F&F at Tesco
Buy now, £29.50
F&F at Tesco has not only launched online recently, meaning you no longer can only shop in store, but it's new rage of occasion wear will make you feel like a million dollars.
This particular dress is just £29.50, with ruffle capped sleeves and that empire line cut.
The small polka dot print is also bang on trend.
Boohoo
If you're looking for a long sleeve maxi dress then this one from Boohoo could be for you.
Not only is it a fun vibrant colour perfect for summer, but the elasticated waist panel in the middle makes this dress extra comfy and gives you some wiggle room.
Having the elastic in the middle then means the dress fans out and flows over the body to create a lovely shape.
What's the best style that suits everyone?
ACCORDING to the fashion pros at Fabulous, there's a new style of dress that suits all body shapes.
Low-slung, dropped-waist silhouette styles have surged, thanks to the Noughties fashion trend that has swept the catwalks, social media and, of course, the high street.
First seen on the runways of luxury labels Molly Goddard and Jil Sander, the style typically cinches around the hip and pelvic area rather than the waist.
Now a plethora of more affordable options of the dress that suits a number of body shapes have dropped just as the sun starts to come out.
Clemmie Fieldsend, Fashion Editor, said: "There's something so stylish about these dresses, and I love them.
"The simplicity of the top half teamed with the full skirt is like a sleeker and more grown-up tutu.
"I have a short torso so the dropped waist makes my body look longer, but, thankfully, the long skirt means your legs don't look shorter.
"Plus it means I can tap into the low-waist trend without baring all in a pair of low-slung jeans.
"I know I'll be living in mine all summer, paired with black sandals and sunnies, but for now all I need is a blazer slipped over the top and a closed-toe shoe and I'm ready to go."
Meanwhile, Fashion Director, Tracey Lea Sayer, added: "I remember dropped-waist dresses from the 80s. I loved them then and I still love them again now!
"Forty years on from when they were first popular and I am not so sure they will be quite as flattering around my middle, because two kids and middle-aged spread later, my waist doesn't exist any more.
"With a dress like this I can disguise my middle bit and still feel on trend for summer."

Georgia Toffolo cuts a stylish figure in a chic spotted blouse and a long white skirt as she enjoys a day at the races for Epsom's Ladies Day

Georgia Toffolo made her bid to be crowned the best dressed as she made a stylish appearance at Epsom's Ladies Day on Friday. The reality star, 30, cut a stylish figure in a brown spotted blouse teamed with a long white skirt as she posed for snaps at the racetrack. She accessorised the look with a striking bow hairband and a small brown handbag. Georgia beamed as she posed for snaps at the annual event, where she had exclusive access to the Jockey Club Room. The club room is thought to give guests 'stunning' balcony views of the races as they take place. The reality star cut a stylish figure in a brown spotted blouse teamed with a long white skirt as she posed for snaps at the racetrack Georgia was one of the many glamorous racegoers who descended on Surrey for the Ladies' Day event - and they certainly didn't disappoint. Donning an entire rainbow of bright colours, revellers braced a wet start and light rain for the opening day of the weekend, which includes the Coronation Day and the Oaks. People were forced to accessorise with umbrellas and raincoats as they arrived at the course - but this didn't mean they compromised on glamour. In fact, the ensembles on display at Epsom Downs Racecourse for the Derby Festival were as daring as ever, with low-scooped corset style tops on display alongside daring thigh splits. Others dressed for the occasion with bright and vibrant fascinators, oozing glitz in a bid to be crowned best dressed. Ladies Day features the third Classic race of the season, The Betfred Oaks. This highly-anticipated race day is also a chance for racegoers to showcase their style, with colourful dresses, wide-brimmed hats and fancy fascinators. The website calls Ladies' Day 'a spectacular, gleeful celebratory day where people come together to join in racing's most spectacular carnival'. While all eyes are on the runners and riders of the day, the competition also provides the opportunity for the ladies attending to fight it out for who is best dressed on the other side of the fence. Epsom organisers describe the derby, due to take place at 3.30pm on Saturday, as the 'world's greatest flat race'. With an incredible prize pot of £1.5million, the race lasts one and a half miles. The owner normally receives about 75 per cent of a race's prize money, while the remaining 25 per cent is generally split between the trainer (10 per cent), the jockey (10 per cent) and then the final 5 per cent to stable staff and racing charities. However, the Derby has been issued with a yellow weather warning, with the Met Office predicting thunderstorms and hail could hit the track.

Kirsty Gallacher hits back at fans who say she looks ‘good for 49' saying ‘it really p***es me off!'

KIRSTY Gallacher has today hit back at fans who say that she looks "good for 49". The popular presenter, who is well known for her passion for fitness, has vented about how this type of comment "really p***es" her off. 5 5 In a new interview, Kirsty, who turned 49 earlier this year, used the opportunity to share how much it annoys her when she is talked about in this way. Reflecting on her age, she told Top Sante magazine "I don't know how on earth I'm 49. I just think, 'Where did my 30s go?'. "I can barely remember them because they were manic, and I was working full-time with two kids. "I got divorced in my late 30s and ended up finding life hard for a few years, and then suddenly, you get to this age and wonder how you got here." But Kirsty added: "One of the best things about being this age is you're wiser and you know yourself better." However, there is one thing about getting older and looking good that annoys her. "It p***es me off and upsets me when people say I look 'amazing for 49'," she vented. "Am I meant to look like a granny instead? I've never understood that. "I know people don't mean it in a nasty way, but age is age. "No one knows what age anyone is anymore because we all have healthier lives and live longer." Being single parents helped us fall in love, says Kirsty Gallagher as she reveals TV couple introduced her to boyfriend Kirsty added: "I just think instead of saying, 'Oh gosh, you look great for 49', just say, 'You look great! How do you do that?'. "And I'll tell you that I eat healthily and I look after myself. You know what I mean? Let's just stop nitpicking about age." Kirsty revealed how she keeps her well honed body in shape: "It's very important I eat well to fuel my workouts. "Protein is so crucial, so it's a difficult one as an animal lover. "I've been a vegetarian off and on all my life, but I think being a vegetarian makes me quite unwell sometimes, so eating meat is sort of one of those things where I've always gone back and forth, purely for my health." Continuing, the healthy star said: "I eat quite a lot of fish and, occasionally, have some red meat. "But if I didn't need to eat meat, I wouldn't. "For me, it's all about buying meat responsibly now, because my boyfriend and children eat meat, and I certainly wouldn't stop others from doing so." 5 KIRSTY IN LOVE As well as her passion for staying fit and healthy, Kirsty also has another love, and that's for her boyfriend Darren Clayton, 39. The smitten couple have been dating for nearly two years, after meeting in 2023. Recently speaking about her man and their relationship to The Sun, she said: 'He is a lovely man, he's wonderful and so supportive. "We met in September 2023, so it's coming up to two years. "I met him with Gabby Logan through an event her husband Kenny was running for our dear friend [former rugby union player] Doddie Weir, who sadly passed from motor neurone disease.' 5 'I'm an ambassador for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, so me and Gabby did a walk from Bisham Abbey to Paris, and I met Darren that day. "He loosely knew Kenny, as they both run events management companies. I went: 'Ooh, you're nice.' 'You think that romantic ideal of love at first sight doesn't exist. But it did when I met him. "I liked his aura and his charisma. Then I got to know him and he's brilliant. 'He asked me out in Paris – Gabby and I were on the Eurostar, giggling like schoolgirls. "I was there when she met Kenny, too. Isn't it wonderful that our friendship is still going strong?' Kirsty also discovered on the trip that there was a slight age difference between her and Darren. 'Yes, he's 10 years younger,' she said. 'It's hilarious. "I heard him talking and he mentioned his age and I thought: 'Oh, god, I really fancy him, but maybe there's too many years difference.' "He didn't know what age I was either. But then it was like 'bang' and it didn't matter.'
