Coldplay is currently in year four of its Music of the Spheres World Tour. The trek promotes the band's albums Music of the Spheres and Moon Music, which were released in 2021 and 2024, respectively. While the most recent project by the English pop-rock group has vacated charts seemingly everywhere, it's the band itself that still appears on a handful of tallies, including in the United States this week.
Coldplay earns a new hit not with something from its most recent full-lengths or a tune being heavily promoted on its tour, but rather with a viral favorite.
'Sparks' Debuts on Five Billboard Charts
'Sparks' debuts on five Billboard charts in the United States this week. The tune largely hits genre-specific rankings, but also manages to approach the all-style, all-encompassing Hot 100, missing out on doing so by just a few spots. Instead, it opens at No. 11 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 – which is reserved for those tunes that almost made it to the top list – and it could rise in the coming weeks, giving Coldplay another placement on the competitive tally.
Coldplay's New Top 20 Smash
'Sparks' arrives inside the top 20 on the Hot Rock Songs, Hot Alternative Songs, and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs charts. The tune kicks off its time at No. 13 on the first two lists and at No. 15 on the latter, which blends both rock and alternative music. On the Alternative Streaming Songs chart, 'Sparks' opens at No. 25.
Coldplay's Parachutes Returns
'Sparks' was originally released in the summer of 2000, but it was never pushed as a single. As the track's virality on sites like TikTok grows and total consumption increases, Parachutes – the album that features the cut – also returns to one Billboard tally. The full-length, which introduced Coldplay to the world, reappears at No. 50, in last place, on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart.

Original Unreleased JAWS Movie Poster Art — GeekTyrant

Before Steven Spielberg's Jaws changed blockbuster history and sent millions running from the ocean, the studio was already toying with how to sell the terror. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jaws , I came accross this rarely seen original poster concept, while at WonderCon earlier this year. It reveals a very different approach to the film's marketin, with a tagline that reads 'One man against a giant killer shark and a town that won't face the truth.' It's an early pitch that leaned closer to Peter Benchley's novel than the ensemble-driven thriller we know today. Notably, none of the now-iconic leads are listed, and Benchley is the only credited screenwriter, which is a strong hint that this poster was likely whipped up during pre-production. This alternate poster for Jaws feels raw, almost like a grindhouse thriller. While this poster was never released, it offers a fascinating glimpse into how drastically a film's tone can shift from conception to completion.

Retro Trailer For The Surreal and Grotesque 1989 Body-Horror Film SOCIETY — GeekTyrant

This week's retro trailer is for the 1989 horror movie Society , directed by Brian Yuzna. It's a surreal and grotesque blend of body horror and social satire film. The story follows Bill Whitney, a wealthy Beverly Hills teenager who begins to suspect that his family, and the high-society world around him, are hiding something sinister. As paranoia sets in, Bill uncovers a disturbing conspiracy involving his parents, his sister, and the elite of Beverly Hills, who are part of a grotesque, shape-shifting cult that literally feeds off the lower classes. The film gradually descends from psychological thriller into full-blown body horror, culminating in a famously disturbing and surreal finale known as 'the shunting.' Society offers a wild and crazy critique of class division, privilege, and the parasitic nature of the upper class. It also features over-exaggerated, almost cartoonish grotesquery, as it shows the elite as monstrous entities who sustain themselves by devouring the poor, both figuratively and literally.
