Gaza: Israeli Aggression Claim 13 Lives Amid Critical Medicine Shortages

Al Manar24-04-2025

Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 13 civilians since dawn on Thursday, as the humanitarian crisis deepens in the Gaza Strip. Medical sources confirm that the ongoing bombardment has inflicted widespread casualties, with several areas being targeted throughout the day.
Among the victims were three individuals martyred when Israeli shelling struck a tent housing displaced persons from the Farajallah family in the al-Sawariha area, west of al-Nuseirat. Additional fatalities were reported in Khan Yunis, where two more were martyred in a similar attack on a tent, and a freed prisoner, Ali al-Sarafiti, along with his wife and four children, lost their lives in an airstrike on their home in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.

The Israeli aggression has not spared other regions, with strikes reported in Jabalia and Rafah, causing further injuries and destruction. This renewed aggression follows a ceasefire agreement that had been in place for approximately 60 days, which was brokered by American, Egyptian, and Qatari mediators.
In a grim update, Marwan al-Hams, director of field hospitals in Gaza, reported that the death toll has surpassed 52,000 since the onset of Israeli aggression. He highlighted that over 43% of those suffering from kidney failure have died due to a lack of medical treatment, as the healthcare sector grapples with severe shortages of essential medicines.

Furthermore, the Israeli occupation has blocked the entry of polio vaccines for the 40th consecutive day, jeopardizing the health of 602,000 children in Gaza who are at risk of permanent paralysis without vaccination. The Ministry of Health warns that the ongoing blockade and lack of proper nutrition and clean water pose additional health complications for the population.
In light of the situation, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor expressed its deep concern about the worsening cash crisis in the Gaza Strip as a result of the crimes of the Israeli occupation, which aims to dismantle the foundations of civilian life by destroying the banking infrastructure and closing bank branches and ATMs.
The Observatory warned that these practices impose coercive living conditions that lead to the slow and systematic destruction of the population. They constitute an internationally prohibited crime of genocide, a violation of international humanitarian law, and a direct attack on the basic rights of Palestinians, including the rights to life, dignity, food, health, housing, and work.

The statement added that since the beginning of its aggression in October 2023, Israel has been preventing the entry of any cash, accompanied by targeting bank headquarters and destroying ATMs, forcing most of them to close and causing a stifling economic and humanitarian crisis, forcing residents to resort to the black market at exorbitant prices to regain their livelihoods.

Israel launches many strikes near aid site in Gaza

Israeli military strikes killed at least 35 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, most of them at an aid site operated by the U.S-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation in central Gaza, local health officials said. Medical officials at Shifa and Al-Quds Hospitals said at least 25 people were killed as they approached the aid site near the former settlement of Netzarim, and dozens were wounded. Ten other people were killed in other Israeli military strikes in Khan Younis in the south of the enclave, they added. The Israeli military had no immediate comment. On Tuesday, when Gaza health officials said 17 people were killed near another GHF aid site in Rafah in southern Gaza, the army said it fired warning shots to distance "suspects" who were approaching the troops and posed a threat. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday there had been "significant progress" in efforts to secure the release of the remaining hostages in Gaza, but that it was "too soon" to raise hopes that a deal would be reached. Despite efforts by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar to restore a ceasefire in Gaza, neither Israel nor Hamas has shown willingness to back down on core demands, with each side blaming the other for the failure to reach a deal. Two Hamas sources told Reuters they did not know about any new ceasefire offers. The war erupted after Hamas-led militants took 251 hostages and killed 1,200 people, most of them civilians, in an October 7, 2023, attack, Israel's single deadliest day. Israel's military campaign has since killed nearly 55,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, according to health authorities in Gaza, and flattened much of the coastal enclave.

Israeli gunfire kills 17 people near Gaza aid site

Israeli gunfire killed at least 17 Palestinians and wounded dozens of others as thousands of displaced people approached an aid distribution site of the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in central Gaza on Tuesday, local health authorities said. Medics said the casualties were rushed at two hospitals, the Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, and the Al-Quds in Gaza City, in the north. The Israeli military said they are looking into the incident. Last week it warned Palestinians not to approach routes leading to GHF sites between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. local time, describing these roads as closed military zones. There was no immediate GHF comment on Tuesday's incident. The GHF began distributing food packages in Gaza at the end of May, overseeing a new model of aid distribution which the United Nations says is neither impartial nor neutral. However, many Gazans say they have to walk for hours to reach the sites, meaning they have to start travelling well before dawn if they are to stand any chance of receiving food. While the GHF has said there have been no incidents at its so-called secure distribution sites, Palestinians seeking aid have described disorder and access routes to the sites have been beset by chaos and deadly violence. 'I went there at 2 a.m. hoping to get some food, on my way there, I saw people returning empty-handed, they said aid packages have run out in five minutes, this is insane and isn't enough,' said Mohammad Abu Amr, 40, a father of two. 'Dozens of thousands arrive from the central areas and from the northern areas too, some of them walked for over 20 km (12 miles), only to come back home with disappointment,' he told Reuters via a chat app. He said he heard the firing but didn't see what happened. Israel allowed limited UN-led operations to resume on May 19 after an 11-week blockade in the enclave of 2.3 million people, where experts have warned a famine looms. The UN has described the aid allowed into Gaza as 'drop in the ocean.' Witnesses said at least 40 trucks carrying flour for UN warehouses were looted by desperate displaced Palestinians as well as thieves near Nabulsi roundabout along the coastal road in Gaza City. The war erupted after Hamas-led militants took 251 hostages and killed 1,200 people, most of them civilians, in the Oct. 7, 2023, attack, Israel's single deadliest day. Israel's military campaign has since killed more than 54,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, according to health authorities in Gaza, and flattened much of the coastal enclave.

85 Days of Renewed Israeli Bombardment in Gaza as Starvation Deepens, Health System Collapses

The Israeli enemy's assault on Gaza has entered its 85th consecutive day, intensifying a 613-day campaign that has pushed the besieged enclave to the brink—marked by soaring civilian casualties, widespread starvation, and a collapsing health system. Over the past 24 hours, 69 Palestinians—including women, children, and individuals awaiting food aid—were killed in Israeli airstrikes, according to Palestinian sources. Gaza Ministry of Health reported that the death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen to 54,981 martyrs and 126,920 injuries. The Israeli occupation army's attacks have increasingly targeted displaced civilians across Gaza. Civil defense teams reported fatalities and injuries near the Nuseirat corridor and western Rafah, where people had gathered in hopes of receiving aid—a grim scene that now repeats daily amid international inaction to halt the targeting of non-combatants. The humanitarian crisis has been exacerbated by a continued blockade on essential food supplies, enforced since early March, further intensifying widespread hunger. The World Health Organization announced the complete shutdown of Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis due to extensive damage and a lack of basic medical resources. Odai Dabour, an official at the Palestinian Medical Relief Society in Gaza, told Al Jazeera that over 76,000 children in Gaza are now registered as malnourished, with the real number likely much higher. Gaza's Medical Relief Society described aid centers as 'death traps,' stating that people are dying in the streets from starvation. In a separate development, US President Donald Trump disclosed that negotiations are underway involving the US, the Israeli occupation, Hamas, and Iran, with the goal of brokering a ceasefire and facilitating a hostage exchange. Tunisian-Led Convoy Departs for Gaza From Tunis to Rafah, a large humanitarian land convoy—Caravan of Steadfastness—set off from Mohamed V Avenue in the Tunisian capital. Organized by the Joint Action Coordination for Palestine, the convoy aims to break the blockade on Gaza. The convoy comprises representatives from trade unions, medical sectors, and youth groups, accompanied by Algerian and broader Maghrebian solidarity delegations. Approximately 300 Algerians joined, invited by the Algerian People's Coordination for Palestine. The convoy—made up of civilian vehicles, buses, and ambulances loaded with medical and relief supplies—gathered at 4 a.m. local time to finalize preparations before proceeding toward the Ras Jedir border crossing into Libya, waving Palestinian flags. It includes specialized teams assigned to logistical, humanitarian, and media roles, marking the outcome of extensive coordination among North African civil society organizations. Other convoys—by land, sea, and air—are expected to join, underscoring the global scope of solidarity and the continued resonance of the Palestinian cause. Spokesperson Wael Nawar noted during a press conference that pro-Palestinian activists from 32 countries are expected to arrive via Cairo International Airport to join the initiative. In international waters, the Israeli occupation navy intercepted the ship Madleen, detaining its passengers.
