Amazon Prime! Jeff Bezos shuts down NYC street to get furniture delivered to penthouse via crane: video

Must be a perk of Prime. A stretch of Fifth Avenue was closed for a massive delivery to Jeff Bezos' sprawling NoMad penthouse, according to a mind-blowing video shared on TikTok. A huge piece of wrapped furniture dangled from a rope as a crane last week slowly hoisted it above the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 26th Street, which was lined with caution tape, barricades, machinery and moving company trucks. 4 Jeff Bezos shut down part of 5th Avenue so a crane could deliver furniture to his NYC penthouse. William C Lopez/New York Post Dozens of workers milled about, directing traffic and joining passersby in watching as the item neared the top of 24-story 212 Fifth Ave., where Bezos reportedly owns five apartments spanning the top four floors worth $119 million. Raffi Arslanian, the owner of luxury candle company Thompson Ferrier, caught the commotion on camera Saturday. 'You want to see how Jeff Bezos delivers his furniture? Let me show you,' said Arslanian, whose office is a block away. 4 Bezos owns five apartments in a NoMad building that overlooks Madison Square Park. Dave Benett/amfAR/Getty Images for amfAR 'I think we all can relate to this,' he joked. 'Now back to reality, where, when we move, we get a U-Haul and we do it ourselves, or at best, we get a company to do it — but we don't close the street,' Arslanian quipped. 4 Bezos owns the top four floors of the building. William C Lopez/New York Post His video has garnered more than 970,000 views and thousands of comments, some speculating about what giant object the crane was transporting. 'It's a hot tub,' said one commenter. A grand piano, suggested another. 4 A TikTok video of the scene went viral. thompsonferrier_nyc/ TikTok Others were more interested in how much the operation cost. Large-scale moves using cranes can cost upwards of $20,000 a day, according to reports, and require permits to shut down the streets. 'Amazon prime delivery, billionaire subscription,' one TikToker joked. 'We would all do the same if we had 100 billion dollars,' another remarked. Bezos, worth an estimated $223 billion, according to Forbes, between 2019 and 2021 plucked up one unit after another in the former office tower overlooking Madison Square Park.

Inside Lauren Sánchez's A-list female circle as she prepares to wed billionaire Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos' fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, keeps a star-studded group of women in her inner circle. Gearing up for her highly anticipated wedding, Sanchez recently celebrated with a three-day bachelorette party with Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, mother Kris Jenner, Eva Longoria and more in Paris. The festivities kicked off on May 14 at the historic restaurant Lafayette's, where Sánchez hosted a dinner for an intimate gathering of 13 women. "The atmosphere was very relaxed and very Parisian," a source shared with People. "It was a pre-wedding all-girl party for 13." Sánchez later shared a photo of the group posing on Lafayette's rooftop with the Eiffel Tower in the background. "Forever starts with friendship, surrounded by the women who've lifted me up, illuminated my path in dark times, and shaped my heart along the way," she wrote in the caption. "Forever starts with friendship, surrounded by the women who've lifted me up, illuminated my path in dark times, and shaped my heart along the way." On May 16, Sánchez's bachelorette group was spotted heading to lunch before partying on a yacht. Sánchez hosted another bachelorette event at Le Grand Cafe at Grand Palais on May 17. The Bezos-Sánchez wedding is reportedly being held in Venice, Italy, this month. There is expected to be a star-studded guest list, with friends of the couple making an appearance. Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Ivanka Trump and Oprah Winfrey are reportedly attending, per Page Six. During her bachelorette party, People reported that Sanchez wore several Oscar de la Renta looks, which may be a hint at the designer she will wear on her big day. Sanchez's high-profile female friend group spans wider than those in attendance for her bachelorette party. Perry and Sanchez's friendship headed to space in April. The pair flew aboard Bezos' Blue Origin rocket ship on an all-female mission along with talk-show host Gayle King, film producer Kerianne Flynn, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Brooks Nader and Sanchez have been longtime friends, which might mean she will be attending the wedding. Last July, Sanchez shared photos from a weekend in New York with Nader. Sydney Sweeney liked the post back in 2024. It appears Sweeney and Sanchez are friendly because at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars party, the duo posted for a picture together. Sofía Vergara, Jessica Alba and Kelly Sawyer Patricof were also in the shot. Bezos and Sánchez reportedly met in the mid-2010s but didn't go public with their relationship until 2019 – once Sanchez separated from her then-husband, Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell, and Bezos divorced Mackenzie Scott. Bezos proposed to Sánchez while aboard his $500 million yacht, Koru, in May 2023, she told Vogue in November of that year. W Magazine reported that Sanchez's 30-carat engagement ring is estimated to be worth between $3 million and $5 million. The outlet reported that Sanchez had two engagement parties, one in Beverly Hills and another in Positano, Italy.

Trump's Threat to Kill SpaceX Presents One Hidden Safety Concern

Because of a political fallout, tech mogul and SpaceX owner Elon Musk has now attracted the verbal ire of President Trump. While sparring over social media, the President suggested that he could and would cancel Musk's government contracts relative to SpaceX. Briefly, this led Musk to claim that SpaceX would "decommission" the crucial Dragon spacecraft, but later reversed his position, saying, "Ok, we won't decommission Dragon." This is the very same type of vessel which recently led to the rescue of astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunni Williams who were stranded on the International Space Station for much longer than originally planned. And it's the fate of the International Space Station that is actually the number one reason why an utterly defunded SpaceX might be a very dangerous thing. In 2024, NASA awarded SpaceX a contract valued at $843 million. The purpose? To deorbit the International Space Station by the end of the decade. Basically, the ISS is not designed to stay in orbit forever, and before it is replaced by something more permanent, it will have to be safely moved to a low Earth orbit. This means that SpaceX is currently tasked by the U.S. government to build the United States Deorbit Vehicle (USDV). "Selecting a U.S. Deorbit Vehicle for the International Space Station will help NASA and its international partners ensure a safe and responsible transition in low Earth orbit at the end of station operations," Ken Bowersox said in a NASA statement last a hypothetical world in which Trump decides to rescind all government contracts for SpaceX, that would presumably include killing the all-important job of SpaceX building the USDV. And if SpaceX doesn't build the USDV, who will help mitigate the very real fallout of a large space station? Again, hypothetically, there are other organizations that have spacecraft, but as the stranding of Wilmore and Williams recently demonstrated, SpaceX has proven to be the most reliable way for the U.S. to get people in and out of space. In fact, the whole reason that Wilmore and Williams were stranded was because the Boeing Starliner — a rival aerospace venture to SpaceX — was unable to complete a return trip because of safety concerns. Concurrent with all of this, Blue Origin's New Glenn craft isn't even close to being ready. Notably, Blue Origin's other craft, the New Shepard, isn't designed to go far enough into space to be useful to the ISS. One might wonder if SpaceX really needs the money. And it's possible the company doesn't. As Musk pointed out on June 3, the entirety of what NASA pays to SpaceX ($1.1 billion) is dwarfed by SpaceX's current revenue ($15.5 billion). Basically, SpaceX's Starlink services are making plenty of money for the company, so if Trump rescinded even just that contract valued at roughly $800 million, it wouldn't come close to putting SpaceX out of business. Legally, Trump might be able to try and sever ties between SpaceX and the U.S. government, specifically, NASA. But practically speaking, this seems very unlikely long-term. Right now, SpaceX is the best bet for creating a safe deorbit for the ISS. And, if any more astronauts get stranded — from any country — it seems like Musk's Dragons are still the most reliable space Threat to Kill SpaceX Presents One Hidden Safety Concern first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 6, 2025
