NEW ORLEANS (AP) — TJ Thomas had 20 points to help East Texas A&M end a six-game losing streak with a 73-71 victory over New Orleans on Monday night.
Thomas also had seven rebounds and four steals for the Lions (4-25, 2-16 Southland Conference). KC Ugwuakazi totaled 11 points and eight rebounds. Khaliq Abdul-Mateen had 10 points.
The Privateers (4-25, 2-16) were led by Michael Thomas with 16 points and 18 rebounds. JR Jacobs had 14 points and seven assists and Theo Grant scored 11. The Privateers have lost 11 in a row.

Soto also ripped a pivotal RBI double against his original team and threw out a runner at home plate from right field to help New York rally for a 5-4 victory in 10 innings. He has four home runs in the past 10 games to give him 12 during his first season with the Mets since signing a record $765 million, 15-year contract as a free agent. The four-time All-Star, who helped Washington win the 2019 World Series, has reached base safely in each of his last 12 games and is batting .341 with eight RBIs and a 1.225 OPS during that span. Soto went 3 for 3 with three walks and three runs Sunday in a 13-5 win at Colorado, reaching base six times in a game for the first time in his career. His first time up Tuesday night, though, Soto saw three straight sliders from Gore and struck out looking against the left-hander. In the third inning, the five-time Silver Slugger winner got some revenge. He drove a 2-2 slider 373 feet the other way to left-center for a solo homer that shaved New York's deficit to 3-2 — and he jawed in Gore's direction immediately after connecting. The US Open has long been renowned as arguably the most difficult of the four golf majors, with birdies hard to come by on the course chosen for the major. 'I birdied the last two holes for 81. It felt pretty good, it didn't feel like I played that badly. It's much more benign right now than it was that Monday. They had the pins in dicey locations and greens were running at 15.5 (on the stimpmeter measuring green speed). 'It was nearly impossible. This morning it was a little softer. The pins aren't going to be on 3 or 4 per cent slopes all the time. 'If you put it in the fairway, it's certainly playable. But then you just have to think about leaving your ball below the hole and just trying to make as many pars as you can. You get yourself in the way of a few birdies, that's a bonus. 'I'm glad we have spotters out there because last Monday you hit a ball off the fairway and you were looking for a good couple of minutes just to find it. It's very penal if you miss. Sometimes it's penal if you don't miss. 'The person with the most patience and the best attitude this week is the one that's going to win.'
