Newfoundland 'Supervises' Kids Running Lemonade Stand Like He's the Boss of the Neighborhood
It's officially lemonade stand weather, everybody. Prepare accordingly! There are some little girls across the street from me who do one every summer, and every summer, they manage to fleece me at least twice. It's not even great lemonade. I just can't say no to little faces!
If they had a Newfoundland like these kids on Sunday, April 27th? I'd be done for. Just take my wallet, really, it's fine. He was very intent on watching "his" kids while they had their lemonade stand, and he did an excellent job keeping everyone safe:
You can literally always count on Chewy the Newfie (Chewfie?) to be watching over his baby. It doesn't matter what she's doing. He will be there like the best bodyguard in the world.Chewy is the best. He's just over 3 years old, and in those 3 years, he's grown to he the size of a grown man. Despite the fact that his siblings are older than him by several years, he is literally the biggest brother and behaves as such. He walks his sister to and from the school bus.
He also knows how to run a business, that's for sure. He was right there during their lemonade stand, ready to jump in if they needed him. He doesn't have thumbs, so he wouldn't be a lot of help, but he would definitely be the perfect personality hire.
Everything went perfectly well with their lemonade stand, so Chewy never ended up having to step in, but it can't have hurt to know he was there. Plus, if they needed a break, what better way to spend it than petting a puppy?
Newfoundlands may look a little bit intimidating, and they will absolutely take you down if you hurt their loved ones, but they're total teddy bears. They love to meet strangers and lounge around! As long as you don't cross them, they're down to be your best friend.
They are a little unaware of their size, so you might have to deal with getting sat on by a 200-pound baby, but it's a small price to pay for so much love!

Husky's Epic Confusion Over Pool Cover Is Pure Comedy Gold
Husky's Epic Confusion Over Pool Cover Is Pure Comedy Gold originally appeared on Parade Pets. Huskies are an incredibly expressive breed. Between their animated facial expressions and soulful howls, they always let you know exactly what they're thinking. They're also intelligent and endlessly curious, so if something doesn't make sense, they'll investigate until it does. For this inquisitive Husky, the pool cover posed quite the conundrum. It looked like water, smelled like water, and even felt like water under her paws. But… why couldn't she swim? Watch her hilarious mix of confusion and excitement in this adorable video from @snowdogsvlogs: Hold everything! What kind of witchcraft water is this? That's probably what Eleanor the Husky thought as she darted over the covered swimming pool. Though puzzled at first, she certainly didn't let the strange surface dampen her fun. In fact, her confusion quickly turned to joy as she realized how bouncy and entertaining this 'unwet' water could be. Her parents were wise to choose a dog-safe pool cover that can hold up to 800 pounds, which turned out to be perfect for this kind of spirited summer testing. While Huskies aren't natural swimmers like Newfoundlands or Retrievers, many enjoy water play, especially in warmer months when their thick double coats make them prone to overheating. As described by the American Kennel Club, early positive exposure and supervision are key, especially since some Huskies can be wary of the water. While Eleanor might not be able to take the plunge yet, she's clearly down for the pre-game warm-up. Fans loved her dramatic display. Viewer @elainethewhipadore quipped, 'Fluff this weird water! Where's the splashy-splashy?' @sig_the_siberian joked, 'Omg like a water bed from the 90s lol.' It certainly looks that way! And someone else chimed in, 'Three minutes until she digs her way in.' Which is why she's under supervision. 🐶SIGN UP to get 'pawsitivity' delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾 Thankfully, as shared in a video from June 2, the pool is now officially open, and Eleanor was the first pup to jump in and celebrate. See her leap into the fun with her Husky siblings: Whether she's bouncing, digging, or diving in, one thing's sure: Eleanor is ready for summer in her uniquely Husky way. And moments like these help us all get in the spirit! "I Was Bullied Horrifically For It": Older Adults Are Sharing Specific Things Today That Are 100% Better Than The Past
It's common for older people to wax nostalgic about the good ol' days. However, redditor @EnvironmentalZone189 recently asked, "What's one part of modern life you actually prefer over how it used to be?" The responses were thoughtful, illuminating, and a true reminder that everyday aspects of life are constantly evolving. Here are 17 responses that really stood out: Responses have been edited for length and clarity. 1."Not waiting 6-8 weeks for delivery." —scotty813 "Our usual Amazon distribution center is close enough that, if I order something early enough in the day, it will be there the next day. I am so spoiled by them and Chewy." —SemiOldCRPGs 2."Automatic bill pay: I can remember taking my stack of bills on the subway as I went to work and writing checks." —moverene1914 "I can remember, as a housewife, spending one day each fortnight on payday driving from one business to another to pay our bills in person with toddlers and a baby in the car!" —KismetMeetsKarma 3."Internet booking for international hotels: not that long ago, you had to write airmail letters and include paid international postage and wait for them to write back to you!" —CatCafffffe 4."Free long-distance calling: In college, everyone called home on Sunday because it was cheaper. Even a call to a neighboring town was a toll call, and you'd get in trouble with Dad if you called a friend in a different town." —CraftFamiliar5243 5."I love EZ PASS and cordless tools." —PissedWidower Related: 26 People Who Had Overwhelming Gut Instincts They Couldn't Were Right 6."Cell phones: I think about cell phones all the time when I'm at a big event, like a concert or convention. Or even just when I'm shopping with someone, and we wander off to separate parts of the store. It's so easy to text and ask, 'Where are you?'" —Imaginary-List-4945 7."Being able to set your home heater to multiple settings." —Theoldelf 8."Online bookings: The ability to book appointments and reservations online. I like being able to take my time looking at all the available options, scheduling what works for me, and paying online, which usually makes things run more smoothly and quickly at check-ins and check-outs." —common_grounder Related: 51 People Who Quickly Discovered Why Their Hilariously Clueless Partner Was Single Before Meeting Them 9."Microwaves: The microwave for cooking, and defrosting, and reheating. In the '60s and '70s, if you didn't get home from playing on time, your supper was cold." —Kingsolomanhere 10."Airfryers: I had a glass bowl convection oven before airfryers were popular. I got it for $30 at Home Depot. Used it for seven years till the cooking bulb burnt out. Then started using my Instant Pot airfryer option. I thought it was a joke at first. It's amazing." —I_Call_Everyone_Ken 11."The internet: I prefer nearly everything about modern life over how it used to be, but on-demand, easy, instant access to information and entertainment from around the world through the internet is far and away the best." —Hegemonic_Smegma 12."Word processing: Because typing a perfect paper sucked. You'd always make a mistake, and sometimes you'd want to change enough that you'd have to do the whole thing over again. And again. And again. Because the more times you re-did it, the more likely you were to screw up." —nakedonmygoat 13."GPS: My son is at the age where he is starting to take long car trips with friends. I was just thinking about how back in the day we would go to AAA to get all the maps needed. It's really a big deal how easy it is to get directions now." —browneyedgirlpie 14."Video calls: Being able to video call loved ones anytime, anywhere. It doesn't replace being there, but it makes the distance feel a little less heavy." —WarmClassroom4997 15."The Lord of the Rings fandom: Don't get me wrong, there are aspects of my childhood that I miss (I was born in '76, so primary school in the '80s, high school early '90s, going out to nightclubs late '90s). However, if I got to choose to start it all over again, I would choose to be in high school now rather than 30 years ago. Let me put it this way: I was really into The Lord of the Rings in high school, back before I had heard there were going to be big blockbuster movies about it. I was bullied horrifically for it, to the point I was so embarrassed. I was kind of forced to stop liking it for the shame. Now, it's a regular thing for people to admit they enjoy it and have LotR marathons and be considered 'normal people' rather than hardcore nerds/geeks." —ExaminationNo9186 16."Cable and streaming TV: Home entertainment was limited to four or five channels. Miss your favorite show? You had to buy a TV Guide magazine or the Sunday newspaper to figure out what night and time the re-run would air. Sometimes you had to sit up to 2 a.m. on a work or school night to catch last week's episode of Cheers or The Cosby Show. Want to watch a movie for a little cost? It took two to three years before movies you missed in the theater showed up on a ABC, CBS, Fox, or NBC broadcast." —Sufficient-Union-456 "I'm literally alive because of medical advances." —HeadCatMomCat Is there an aspect of modern life that you so prefer to the past? Moment Dog Recognizes Owner on TV Melts Hearts: 'So Many Head Tilts'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The moment a dog recognized his owner being shown on television has melted hearts on TikTok. Ellie Zweifel sat on her couch with a swimming competition playing on the TV. She was watching her partner, Olympian Bobby Finke, compete in a 400-meter race. Their small dog, Phil, joined her on the couch. Zweifel got distracted by Phil once she realized he was watching TV too, which surprised her because, as she wrote in the caption of her TikTok video, "Phil has terrible vision." Plus, dogs tend to process television and screens differently than humans due to their different vision. An article from Chewy last month explained that dogs see fewer colors when watching TV due to their limited range compared to humans. They primarily see blues and yellows. Humans will see the screen as a continuous motion, but dogs, on the other hand, perceive the images as a series of flickering pictures. And while humans tend to veg out on the couch, canines typically only watch for short periods. Even if the screen looked different to Phil, Zweifel was convinced he comprehended who was on the television—his dad. In her May 3 TikTok video posted to the account @elliezweifel1, Phil can be seen sitting on the edge of the couch with his eyes locked onto the screen. He started tilting his head back-and-forth as he tried processing what he was watching. Phil looked confused and amazed. He wondered if what he saw was truly his owner. He could see and hear his owner, but why wasn't he there physically? The video's text overlay reads: "Wasn't expecting my dog to recognize his dad through the tv." Newsweek reached out to @elliezweifel1 for additional information and comment. While it seemed Phil understood what he was watching, the Chewy article stated that dogs cannot distinguish that what is on the screen is only a picture. This is because animal cognition is not the same as a human's. TikTok Users React The video quickly melted people's hearts on TikTok and brought in over 618,700 views as of Friday afternoon. Users couldn't get over the dog's "so many head tilts." "He like, 'Hold up, wait a minute... I know that guy,'" one user commented. Another wrote what was going through Phil's mind: "Dad??? How'd you get in that magic box???" A third user added: "The little head tilts. He is proud of his dad." Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share?
