On the campaign trail, Elon Musk juggled drugs and family drama
As Elon Musk became one of Donald Trump's closest allies last year, leading raucous rallies and donating about $US275 million ($428 million) to help him win the presidency, he was also using drugs far more intensely than previously known, according to people familiar with his activities.
Musk's drug consumption went well beyond occasional use. He told people he was taking so much ketamine, a powerful anesthetic, that it was affecting his bladder, a known effect of chronic use. He took Ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms. And he travelled with a daily medication box that held about 20 pills, including ones with the markings of the stimulant Adderall, according to a photo of the box and people who have seen it.

US slams Hamas response to Gaza ceasefire proposal
Jerusalem | The White House on Saturday (Sunday AEST) denounced Hamas' response to a new US ceasefire proposal as totally unacceptable and said it 'only takes us backward' after the group sought firmer guarantees that the deal would lead to a permanent end to the war. Under the US proposal, which was floated by Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy, Israel and Hamas would halt the fighting in the Gaza Strip for at least 60 days, during which some hostages would be freed in exchange for Palestinians jailed by Israel. And there would be further US-backed negotiations on a permanent end to the war.

EU threatens retaliation over Trump's steel tariffs hike
Brussels | The European Commission said on Saturday (Sunday AEST) that Europe was prepared to retaliate against President Donald Trump's plan to double tariffs on imported steel and aluminium, raising the prospect of an escalating trade fight between two of the world's largest economic powers. Trump's announcement on Friday that he would increase tariffs on imported steel and aluminium to 50 per cent from 25 per cent intensifies his global trade war, and came just hours after he accused China of violating an agreement with the US to mutually roll back levies and trade restrictions for critical minerals.

Federal Reserve looking to ‘tank' US economy to ‘hurt' Trump
Everything the doomsdayers said would happen under Donald Trump's second term 'isn't happening', according to former Trump senior advisor Christian Whiton. 'This should be a green light for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates because there is no inflation,' Mr Whiton said. 'You have a Federal Reserve that I think wants to tank the economy to hurt Trump.' This comes as the Albanese government has intensified its criticism of US President Donald Trump's decision to double tariffs on imported Australian steel but will not retaliate.
