Rising 2026 3-star OT chooses Ohio State over Texas A&M
Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class has landed its 20th and 21st commitments on Wednesday afternoon after four-star offensive tackles Avery Morcho and Zaden Krempin made their consecutive announcements.
However, after Krempin chose the Aggies over Texas, three-star offensive lineman Aaron Thomas committed to Ohio State on Wednesday night.
After his official visit to Texas A&M last weekend, Thomas was predicted to land with the Aggies. Still, knowing that Avery Morcho and Zaden Krempin represent the future starters at tackle, at least on paper, Ohio State's roster holes at tackle, combined with the program's elite reputation, sealed the deal late.
Standing at 6-7 and 300 pounds, Thomas has a very bright future despite his late switch to the O-line. On film, Thomas exhibits the athletic traits necessary to become a reliable pass protector, thanks to his fluid athleticism, which enhances his footwork and balance. His size and strength will also enable him to bulldoze defenders in the run game.
Texas A&M offensive line coach Adam Cushing is one of the top assistant coaches in college football, thanks to his ability to develop promising offensive linemen into future NFL draft selections —a skill he demonstrated during his time at Northwestern and Duke in the same role. Still, this is how recruiting works when surprise commitments, like Krempin, affect the decisions of fellow ascending tackle prospects.
According to 247Sports, Thomas is currently positioned as the 50th-ranked tackle and the 8th-ranked prospect in Arizona.

Texas' First Loss of 2025 College Football Season Predicted
Texas' First Loss of 2025 College Football Season Predicted originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas Longhorns are 38-17 under head coach Steve Sarkisian since he took the job in 2021. During that time, Sarkisian has taken Texas to one bowl game and appeared in the College Football Playoff twice. However, some are skeptical about Texas in 2025. Advertisement ESPN's Joe Fortenbaugh joined a recent episode of "Get Up" to discuss regular-season win totals for college football. He predicted Texas to lose its season opener against the Ohio State Buckeyes on August 30. Ohio State ended Texas' season, handing the Longhorns a 28-14 loss in the semifinal of the playoff. The Buckeyes went on to win the national title. Texas Longhorns Head Coach Steve Sarkisian. © Ricardo B. Brazziell/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images "All we need are two losses," Fortenbaugh said. "I see them losing to Ohio State to open the season, and then as you work your way down, there are plenty of problems. Road game at Florida. Road game at Georgia. Fourth-toughest schedule in the nation. So yea, I think this is a team that's very overvalued." Advertisement Fortenbaugh even called Texas the most overvalued team in college football, referring to their 10.5 regular-season win total as reported by ESPN BET. The roster in Austin is going to look quite different in 2025. Texas lost players like quarterback Quinn Ewers, offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., receiver Matthew Golden and defensive back Jahdae Barron to the 2025 NFL Draft. Former No. 1 overall recruit from the 2023 class, Arch Manning, will finally get his shot to win the quarterback job for the Longhorns. He played in 10 games last season, with two starts. Manning led his team to wins over UL Monroe and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Advertisement Rarely is Manning not the topic of conversation regarding Texas. That was the case with Heisman sleeper predictions by college football analyst Michael Bratton. He picked running back Tre Wisner as a sleeper for the award. Texas and Ohio State have played each other four times, with the series split evenly at 2-2. The Longhorns have a chance for revenge on August 30 at noon ET on Fox. NBA champs draft pick comes from HBCU hoops family
Thomas Sorber is officially heading to the NBA. The Oklahoma City Thunder selected him with the 16th overall pick in the NBA Draft. But there's more to Sorber's story than his draft night. His family has a deep connection to HBCU basketball. The Sorber family's journey began with hope and hard work. Thomas's parents immigrated to the United States from Liberia. They escaped civil war in search of a better life. His mother, Tenneh, raised three children after the death of her husband, Peter Sr., in 2013. She worked long, difficult hours to keep the family strong. Her dedication helped Thomas and his siblings chase their dreams. Thomas's older brother,Peter Sorber, also made his mark in basketball. Peter started his college career at Morgan State University, an HBCU known for its proud athletic tradition. After two years, he transferred to Lincoln University (PA), where he became a standout forward. Peter thrived at Lincoln. He even won an Athlete of the Week award in his senior season. Inspired by NBA star Kevin Durant, Peter built his game with passion and focus. Thomas's oldest sibling, Regina Sorber, was the first to shine on the court. She played for Alabama A&M University, another respected HBCU. Her time as a student-athlete helped pave the way for her brothers. Thomas Sorber now enters the NBA, but his family's legacy will always be tied to HBCU basketball. His journey is a story of resilience, heritage, and pride. As he takes his next step with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Sorber carries the strength of his family and the power of their HBCU legacy. UNC freshman drafted in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft to the Brooklyn Nets
Drake Powell, UNC basketball freshman, was taken No. 22 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft to the Brooklyn Nets. With the 22nd pick of the NBA Draft the @ATLHawks select Drake Powell (@powellxdrake)!2025 #NBADraft presented by State Farm LIVE on ABC & ESPN! Originally projected to be a late first-round pick even falling to the second round in some final mock drafts like ESPN, Drake Powell was selected as the No. 22 overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night. The Hawks then sent Powell to the Brooklyn Nets. The deal that landed Brooklyn the No. 22 overall pick involved the Boston Celtics as well, moving Kristaps Porzingis. Powell will head north in the Eastern Conference, where he will team up with star guard Cam Thomas and fellow Tar Heel Cameron Johnson. The team also boasts De'Angelo Russell, Drew Timme, and Keon Johnson. Last year, the Hawks drafted Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft before going 40-42 this season. They ended last season in the No. 12 spot in the Eastern Conference with a 26-56 record. They have already drafted BYU guard Egor Demin with the No. 8 pick. Powell will add much-needed two-way play for the Jordi Fernández-coached team that lacked much resemblance of defense last season. The 6-foot-5 forward averaged 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game last season while shooting 48.3% from the field and 37.9% from behind the arc. Still very much raw talent, the right organization could take Powell and mold him into the potential of a star two-way player like Mikal Bridges or Norman Powell. Time will tell how Powell will fit into the rotation and what kind of player the Nets can groom him to become, but they obviously saw something great in him.
