Sandra Calvert-Lewin received a backlash from some fans on social media after posting in the wake of Everton's final game at Goodison Park.

Calvert-Lewin's speech about Coleman sums up love for Everton captain
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has heaped praise on Seamus Coleman, saying he is everything good about Everton. Calvert-Lewin has been at Everton since 2016, making over 250 appearances for the Toffees and playing under countless managers. But the one mainstay of his time on Merseyside has been Donegal man Coleman, who has just been offered a contract to play a 17th season at the club. Striker Calvert-Lewin's Everton future is in doubt, with new contract talks having stalled, but his admiration for Coleman knows no bounds. Speaking on the High Performance Podcast, Calvert-Lewin was asked who the biggest cultural architect at Everton is, and he was in no doubt of the answer. "The biggest cultural architect at Everton is Seamus Coleman," Calvert-Lewin said. "What a man he is! He deserves all the credit he's got from people and all the plaudits and positivity associated with him because he really is that guy. "Some players or people might put on a bit of extra to look a certain way, but he truly lives and breathes it. "I was talking about feeling a relegation battle before, but he feels it tenfold compared to me. It's the way he's emotional in the sense that he loves Everton Football Club. "I think that's quite rare these days because football is also a business, and sometimes football doesn't love you back. I wouldn't say gone are the days where you have those childhood stories of players staying at the same club, but it's a little different now. "I think he still appreciates the faith that Everton put in him when he was a young lad. Nobody can argue what he's done. "People often forget that, probably in Everton's history, the last three years—the points deductions, relegation battles—have been the toughest. The uncertainty, maybe higher up, and things like that, which do filter into a dressing room and affect your performance when the environment's unstable. "You do have to stay focused and stay as a unit. Seamus has been the main driver of that through sheer passion and love for the club. As you can tell, I respect him a lot." Calvert-Lewin added: "He just does everything right. He doesn't cut corners. Simple things, you know—he's on time, and he's very aware of how people perceive him in the environment. He knows that people will go off from how he acts. "So, he never loses sight of that. If we're going through a sticky patch, he'll make sure he's the first on the training pitch, first in the gym, or first to training because he's setting the example. For me, he's been a great leader to learn from because that's all I've ever known. I know Seamus like I know Everton." Calvert-Lewin continued on the Everton captain: "You wouldn't believe some of the stuff he has done in moments of need when he's stepped up and spoken in the dressing room. I can't think of an exact moment, but he's able to recognise when the team needs a kick up the arse. I've heard him give a lot of speeches over the years. "He won't mind me saying this, but his go-to is always: 'There are people in those stands who are paying a lot of money to come and watch us. They're working all week, and this is their outlet to come and watch us win and, at the bare minimum, see us give our all.' "It's something along those lines. Without saying too much, he speaks about the people, he speaks about the football club. He's almost able to disassociate himself as Seamus the footballer and place himself as Seamus, Everton Football Club. You feel it, you know? It's captivating. "You go out ready to run through brick walls. Managers have come and gone in that period of time, but he's been the captain. He's had to deal with a lot in terms of internal politics, points deductions, this person, that person, and still, he's out there giving 110% on the day."

Spurs close in on Thomas Frank after making official approach to Brentford
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR HAVE made an official approach to Brentford over making Thomas Frank their next head coach, the PA news agency understands. Spurs sacked Ange Postecoglou on Friday, despite Europa League success, and quickly set their sights on Frank – who has gained admirers for his work over an impressive seven-year period at the west London club. After positive initial talks over the weekend, confidence started to grow on Monday morning that Frank would be the man to replace Postecoglou and Tottenham have now entered discussions with Brentford, PA understands. Frank's current deal with the Bees runs until the summer of 2027 and contains a release clause reported to be in the region of €11.9 million (£10m). Brentford are eager to hold out for Frank's release clause, but they have started talks with Spurs over a compensation package which would soften the blow of losing the highly-rated Dane. The 51-year-old would take over a Spurs side which won the Europa League last month but finished 17th in the Premier League. Poor domestic form during the 2024-25 season cost Postecoglou his job as the Spurs board was forced to make 'one of the toughest decisions' it has had to make in dismissing the head coach who ended a 17-year trophy drought. Tottenham technical director Johan Lange has remained in post and is set to renew allegiances with compatriot Frank. Frank and Lange worked together at Danish club Lyngby before they both made their marks in the Premier League. Lange attempted to bring Frank to Aston Villa in 2022 when he worked at the midlands outfit. Former Brondby boss Frank has developed a strong reputation in English football since he took over Brentford, with his tactical nous and man-management skills often lauded by rival managers and pundits. Kempton Park still at risk of closure as developers have option to build houses on famous track until 2030

The expiry date on the agreement is in 2028, though it can be extended a further two years if Redrow express interest in going ahead with the purchase of the 230-acre site, either in its entirety or part of it. The Jockey Club has not hidden its desire to sell off land at Kempton for housing to raise much needed funds, and in February 2020 they announced But those plans were also scuppered by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Jockey Club remains in a deep financial hole, with the last set of accounts published last summer showing they have around £54 million of debt. Spelthorne Council said eight years ago the site was unlikely to be considered for housing eight as it was deemed 'strongly performing' green belt land. But the new Labour government has relaxed planning laws to encourage house building, with the aim to build 1.5 million new homes before the next election. The Jockey Club dismissed recent speculation on social media that the racecourse was to be closed at the end of next year, but there is a desperate need for housing in Surrey and Redrow is still interested in developing the site, for all they have yet to trigger their option to buy the land. 'Since this agreement was made, we have been reviewing whether the site, or parts of it, could assist with the delivery of much needed new housing in Surrey.' The Jockey Club said: "Since 2018, Redrow have had the exclusive right to promote Kempton Park as a potential site for residential development, lasting until 2028. "Since the agreement came into effect it has been entirely normal procedure for there to be ongoing discussions to see if the site, or parts of it, could play a part in addressing the need for houses in the local area. "Given the recent changes in wider planning policy, it is no surprise that those discussions are continuing, but in real terms there has been no change in Kempton Park's status.'
