PA Turnpike debuts texting service for traffic updates
(WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has launched a new text messaging service that will offer motorists real-time communication during unexpected traffic backlogs.
If you are in a traffic backlog, you can text 47676 and will receive automated, location-specific information about the incident, anticipated clearance times, and roadway updates.

The PA Turnpike says it will work 'while at a complete stop in a location where it is safe to remain stationary, through hands-free devices and voice command or through a passenger in the car, text 'info' to 47676'.
Once you allow the PA Turnpike to access your location, you will receive updates every 15 to 20 minutes. Texts will stop once the incident clears.

The PA Turnpike also reminds motorists that in June, Paul Miller's Law goes into effect, which prohibits the use of hand-held mobile devices while driving.
