Tight security in place for PM's rally at Bikramganj
Sasaram: Tight security arrangements have been made for PM Narendra Modi's scheduled rally at Durgadih in Bikramganj, around 40km from Sasaram, on Friday. Dr Satya Prakash, DIG of Shahabad range, visited the venue on Wednesday and held a meeting with police officers to review the security arrangements.
A total of 23 DSP-rank officers, including an ASP, have been strategically deployed at the venue and in surrounding areas. Sources said the administration was implementing comprehensive security protocols in strict accordance with the "Blue Book" guidelines.
Police headquarters has issued a region-wide alert in view of the visit. As a result, heightened security measures are in place. Regular inspections are being conducted at key locations.
These checks are focused on railway stations, hotels within all police station limits, bus stands and key transportation routes in the district.
The SPs in the neighbouring districts of Bhojpur and Buxar have also been notified and placed on high alert to ensure a coordinated security strategy throughout the region.
Sources said the 23 DSP-level officers are overseeing crucial aspects such as route lining, managing VVIP entry points, supervising the eight designated sectors, VIP parking, helipad security and the access route from the assembly venue to the helipad.
Their responsibilities also extend to the main entrance and various key locations in Sasaram.
The elaborate security arrangements stretch beyond Rohtas, involving personnel from 13 other districts, including Buxar, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Kaimur, Gaya, Jehanabad, Hajipur, Siwan, Vaishali, Saran, Sheikhpura, Nawada and Arwal. Officers range from additional district magistrates to senior deputy collectors.
These officers are playing a crucial role in managing the programme venue, enforcing VIP protocol, facilitating helipad operations and ensuring coordination with the special protection group (SPG), the elite unit responsible for the PM's personal security.

Among them was how to reach the location surrounded by the steep slopes of the Himalayas. The team had only one option -- horses and mules. According to Afcons Infrastructure Limited, the top infrastructure company that constructed the bridge, one of the main and earliest challenges was access to the bridge location, to transport equipment and construction materials. "Initially, mules and horses were used by the project team to reach the location. Slowly over a period, temporary roads were created and access was made available to the site," a spokesperson from the company said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the iconic Chenab Bridge, Anji Rail Bridge and Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project and flagged off Vande Bharat trains, connecting Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The spokesperson added that eventually on the North side of the river bank, an 11-km road was constructed and a 12-km long road on the South side. Krishnamurthy Subramanian, Executive Vice Chairman, Afcons, said the Chenab Railway Bridge is more than just a marvel of engineering. "It is a symbol of India's resolve to conquer the most formidable challenges with ingenuity and courage," Subramanian told PTI. The company used the world's tallest crossbar cable cranes and specialised heavy machinery as tools for this ambitious project. "The ancient and steep slopes of the Himalayas were tamed using massive consolidation grouting, making them sturdy for the colossal arch foundations," the company said, highlighting challenges it faced. "With the foundations set, the erection of the arch from both sides was planned by cantilever construction technique. The first big moment of triumph came on April 5, 2021, when a single majestic arch approaching steadily from both banks met at the crown," it added. "The viaduct construction was another unique challenge. There were multiple transition areas. Keeping this in mind, the launching sequence was meticulously planned in four sections," the spokesperson. Giridhar Rajagopalan, Deputy Managing Director, Afcons told PTI that for the first time in Indian Railways, incremental launching was done on transition curve and a longitudinal gradient, both occurring at same location, for the deck launching of the viaduct portion of the Chenab Bridge. For the first time in the Indian Railways' history, a laboratory accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration (NABL) was set up to ensure that quality was being monitored at every stage of the project. Situated at a height of 359 metres above the river, the Chenab bridge is 35 metres higher than the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris and the world's highest railway bridge over the Chenab river. After inaugurating the Chenab bridge, the prime minister walked on it holding the Tricolour high. He travelled in a rail engine coach to reach the spot.

The commandos made their presence felt on the inaugural trains flagged off by the prime minister. Each of the two Vande Bharat trains will have 15 commandos and a supervisor each on board to ensure the security and safety of train travel, officials said. The units have been recently brought from outside and will be based in the Budgam area of the Kashmir valley and the Katra belt of Reasi district. After focusing on high-risk security operations, especially in areas with threats like Naxalite insurgency, this is the first time CORAS has been deployed in J-K. With the official flag-off by the prime minister, the Indian Railways will commence regular operations of the two new Vande Bharat trains on June 7. The trains will run six days a week, with Tuesdays reserved for maintenance, Railway officials said. To begin with, the trains will operate between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar, as the Jammu Tawi station is currently under redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, they added. Equipped with advanced heating systems, frost-proof windshields and comfortable interiors, they offer year-round travel, even in harsh winter conditions, the officials said. The prime minister dedicated the USBRL project to the nation by inaugurating the world's highest railway bridge on the Chenab River. The 272-km-long USBRL project, constructed at a cost of around Rs 43,780 crore, includes 36 tunnels (spanning 119 km) and 943 bridges, the officials said. The project establishes all-weather, seamless rail connectivity between the Kashmir valley and the rest of the country, aiming to transform regional mobility and drive socio-economic integration, they added.
