Pune: At 19, Suruchi Phogat is busy writing history and rewriting it. The Haryana shooter added one more chapter to her career by winning the gold medal in women's 10m air pistol at the ISSF World Cup in Munich.
On Friday, she made it a hat-trick of individual gold medals and took her senior international score to 5/5 — five medals in five tournaments. She has become the first Indian to achieve this feat. Suruchi made her international debut at the Buenos Aires World Cup in April. She then competed in Lima and now the ongoing Munich edition.

In the three individual matches played so far, she has won gold thrice in 10m air pistol events.
She also won a gold and a bronze in 10m air pistol mixed competition.
In Munich, Suruchi qualified second after shooting a National Record equalling score of 588 (earlier shot by Manu Bhaker). In the final, when all her seven opponents shot below 10.1, Suruchi hit a 10.7 to set the tone for her win.

The teenager pushed Paris Games silver medallist Camille Jedrejewski to silver (241.7) and Tokyo Games bronze medallist Ranxin Jiang to bronze (221.7).
'I am happy but not surprised by my win. I think this is what we train for, to win gold medals,' Suruchi said. When asked if there was any pressure on her after the first two successful editions of the World Cup, she said, 'Fortunately, I don't take pressure of winning medals at all.
I have people around me who try to keep me away from the pressure. All I do is train and focus on each shot as that will help me improve. I don't think about the results,' she said.

Former Commonwealth Games champion and now head coach of the pistol team, Samaresh Jung, feels it is the attitude that makes Suruchi such a force. 'She has been shooting fantastic. Her technique is good but what is unique about her shooting is her attitude.
I have observed that anything below gold doesn't excite her. She thrives to win the top place on the podium and it is working very well for her. I am not sure how, but she needs to be protected from undue pressure and expectations from everybody around her,' Jung said.
Meanwhile, Paris Games double medallist Manu couldn't qualify for the final after finishing 25th with 574. Palak was 36th with 570. In the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event, all three Indians failed to enter the 6-man final. Anish was the top shooter for India in the 18th spot (581). Vijayveer Sidhu (572) and Ankur Goel (571) were 36th and 37th respectively

(Pic credit: BCCI) NEW DELHI: Sarfaraz Khan continued his strong form in England with a blazing century for India A against the main Indian Test squad on Day 2 of the ongoing intra-squad warm-up game in Beckenham on Saturday. While the 27-year-old dazzled with a 76-ball 101, Jasprit Bumrah endured a quiet outing, finishing wicketless in his seven-over spell. India A ended Day 2 at 299/6 in reply to India's 459, with Ishan Kishan unbeaten on 45 and Shardul Thakur on 19. The highlight of the day, however, was Sarfaraz's explosive ton, laced with 15 fours and two sixes. He was eventually retired out to allow others a hit in the middle — a tactical call that didn't diminish the impact of his knock. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! India's batting on Day 1 was anchored by half-centuries from captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul , who looked fluent in the middle as the team builds towards the England Test challenge.

With Arjun Erigaisi as their star player and a strong Indian presence, Team MGD1 wins FIDE World Rapid Team Championship 2025

Team MGD1, with Indian Grandmasters Arjun Erigaisi as their star player and N Srinath as the non-playing captain, won the FIDE World Rapid Team Championship 2025 in London on Saturday. A Pune-based chess management firm, Team MGD1 became the first Indian team to achieve this feat in the tournament's brief three-year history. Team MGD1 also featured the most Indian players in their squad. Alongside Erigaisi and Srinath, the team included Harikrishna Pentala, Pranav V, Leon Luke Mendonca, Atharvaa Tayade, and Hariharan Raghavan. Spanish GM David Anton Guijarro and Greek IM Stavroula Tsolakidou completed the roster as overseas players. In the 12-round Swiss-format tournament with a time control of 15 minutes plus a 10-second increment from move one, Team MGD1 won 10 of 12 rounds, with one loss and one draw, finishing with 21 points. They closely edged out Hexamind Chess Team, which finished with 20 points and featured two Indian players — Vidit Gujrathi and Divya Deshmukh. The title was secured in a close final round against Malcolm's Mates, with crucial wins from Erigaisi, Pranav, and Tayade. Five-time World Champion Viswanathan Anand's Freedom team took third place with 17 match points. Another Indian participant, Nihal Sarin, represented Ashdod Elit Chess Club alongside strong players like Pavel Eljanov and Benjamin Gledura. Anand hailed the format of the event. 'What is commendable is that so many teams composed of fans and club players chose to participate, giving it a slight festival feel,' the five-time World Champion and India's greatest ever chess player told The Indian Express from London. With this victory in the tournament's third edition, Team MGD1 matched the title wins of inaugural champions WR Chess and 2024 winners Al-Ain ACMG UAE. WR Chess Team were the top seeds with big names like Hikaru Nakamura, Alireza Firouzja, Jan-Krzysztof Duda and Hou Yifan, but they finished fifth. The FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships 2025 is an event open to any team around the globe that meets the official requirements. According to FIDE, the teams can be made of club members, members of different federations or any other chess players. This structure has been designed to ensure an inclusive, level playing field where each team must have at least six and no more than nine players. The teams also have to include at least one female player and one recreational player who is defined as 'one who never achieved FIDE Standard, Rapid or Blitz Rating of 2000 (or an equivalent national rating, as determined by FIDE's Global Strategy Commission) Elo points (or unrated) up to and including the March 2025 rating lists.' Over 110 GMs competed across 52 teams in the rapid event. Some teams — like Noval Group Kyrgyzstan, Oxbridge, and Berlin Lasker Legends — had no grandmasters. Others, such as The London Legends and Rey Ahogado, featured no titled players. 'It's a very attractive format with all the expected excitement, and I believe this event will grow in strength in coming years,' Anand added. For FIDE, the international chess body, the event holds great significance. President Arkady Dvorkovich stated: 'This pivotal event distinguishes itself as the largest team tournament featuring both professional and non-professional players. The immense value of events like the WRB Teams lies in providing unique opportunities for recreational players and new chess talents to play alongside — and directly against — stars in genuine tournament settings. We're already seeing significant interest from potential hosts for next year's edition, and we're optimistic about this event's future and similar competitions globally.' Srinath, after the win, said: 'I'm absolutely elated. This is definitely one of the most special wins of my career. It's a fun event that has already fit into the cycle by its third year. While more relaxed than classical events, it remains intense nevertheless.' The total prize fund is €500,000, with €310,000 allocated to the rapid event and €190,000 to the blitz event.

'Bumrah Alone Can't Win Series, India Need Support From Other Bowlers': Madan Lal

Former India cricketer Madan Lal has stated that India cannot rely solely on Jasprit Bumrah to win the Test series against England. He emphasized the need for the entire bowling unit to contribute effectively, pointing out that expecting Bumrah alone to deliver consistent results is unrealistic. With a strong England side to face, Lal believes India's success will depend on collective performance, especially from other fast bowlers. and subscribe to our channel and never miss a to CricketNext YouTube channel to never miss a video: CricketNext on Facebook: CricketNext on Twitter: CricketNext on Instagram: : Bumrah, Madan Lal, IND vs ENG, India vs England, Test Series 2025, Indian Cricket, Team India, Bumrah Bowling, Indian Bowlers, Cricket Analysis, Bumrah vs England, Madan Lal Interview, Cricket Debate, India Bowling Attack, Cricket News, Bumrah Highlights, Indian Fast Bowlers, Ashwin, Siraj, Shami, Rohit Sharma, Cricket Commentary, IND ENG Test Match, Bumrah 2025, Cricket Legends, Test Cricket, Bumrah Wickets, Cricket Series 2025, Indian Cricket Team, Bumrah Performance
