GCC Tourist Visa Approved, to Be Rolled Out 'soon',
The GCC single tourist visa has been approved and will be rolled out soon, said Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE's Minister of Economy.
'The single (GCC) tourist visa has been approved and waiting now to be implemented, hopefully, soon. Now, it is with the Ministry of Interior and the relevant stakeholders and they should look into it,' Al Marri told Khaleej Times in an interview on the sidelines of the UAE Hospitality Summer Camp press conference on Monday.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have been discussing rolling out a unified tourist visa or GCC Grand Tours Visa for the region, similar to the Schengen tourist visa, over the past few years.
This visa will allow foreign tourists to visit all six member states – the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait – on a single visa.
Industry executives believe that the unified visa will be a game-changer for the regional tourism industry and overall economies, creating jobs along with a big boost to GDP.
They believe that the much-awaited unified GCC tourist visa will boost 'bleisure' (business-leisure) travel in the region, as visitors will increasingly mix the two to extend their trips to explore the neighbouring countries.
According to data released by the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf, the region welcomed 68.1 million visitors in 2023 and generated a record $110.4 billion in tourism revenue, a remarkable 42.8 per cent increase in tourist arrivals compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
The travel and tourism sector's contribution to the UAE economy continues to grow, taking the total employment numbers to 833,000 last year, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
It is estimated that the number of jobs in the UAE's travel and tourism sector will touch one million by 2030, surpassing WTTC's estimates of 928,000 by 2034, with one in 9 residents working in the sector.
Dubai, a regional tourism hub, welcomed 7.15 million tourists in the first four months of 2025, representing a 7 per cent growth compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

The committee also reviewed several submissions related to national development goals, including requests to update or new draft specifications in support of domestic initiatives. Sustainability alignment HE Minister Fakhro praised the contributions of committee members and reaffirmed the importance of aligning Bahrain's technical frameworks with global best practices. He stressed that advancing legislative and regulatory infrastructure is essential for maintaining both consumer safety and environmental stewardship. The achievements of the Bahrain Standards and Metrology Directorate (BSMD) were also highlighted during the meeting, reflecting Bahrain's broader direction toward institutionalizing sustainable production and trade practices. With the technical decisions now approved, the next phase is expected to focus on enforcing the new standards and raising public awareness of the Green Product Card system.

Omanis Citizens Earning RO600 Or Less Can Now Apply For Marriage Aid
Citizens of Muscat Governorate with monthly incomes of RO 600 or less are now eligible to apply for marriage support under a new government initiative. The activation of the Marriage Fund Support Request Service comes as part of royal directives to roll out marriage assistance across all governorates in Oman. The initiative, launched by Muscat Governorate, is intended to ease the financial burden of marriage for eligible Omani citizens and is accessible through the governorate's official website. To qualify, applicants must meet specific criteria: they must be Omani nationals between the ages of 22 and 45, have never been married, reside in Muscat Governorate, and be marrying another Omani citizen. In addition, their monthly income must not exceed RO 600. Required documentation includes copies of the applicant's ID card, a certified marriage contract, and an employer-endorsed salary certificate. Applications can be submitted online or via email and are subject to a verification process. Once reviewed, eligible applicants will be notified by phone. The service is free of charge, and the review process typically takes up to 30 working days. The rollout in Muscat follows a directive by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to establish a national marriage support fund. Each of the Sultanate's 11 governorates has been allocated RO 1 million to implement the program, with full activation expected by the end of June. The initiative was a key agenda item in the year's first governors' meeting, chaired by Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior. The meeting emphasized aligning local development priorities with the Sultan's vision of decentralization and strengthening community participation in governance. Further details regarding application procedures and eligibility in other governorates are expected to be announced soon by the Ministry of Interior.

Saudi Arabia: GCC Citizens And Residents Can Now Perform Umrah Anytime
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can now perform Umrah at any time of the year, with entry permitted through all land, air, and sea ports. Permits for Umrah can be obtained conveniently through the official Nusuk application. The decision is part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to streamline pilgrimage procedures and improve the overall experience for pilgrims. In tandem with these measures, residents of GCC countries, not just citizens, are now eligible to perform Umrah using multiple types of visas. These include Umrah visas available via transit visas issued in partnership with Saudi Airlines and Flynas ( and and tourist visas that can be obtained through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official portal ( To access the holy sites, all pilgrims, whether citizens or residents, are required to obtain a prior permit through the Nusuk app for Umrah and prayer in the Rawdah Al Sharifah, the sacred chamber in the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. On June 10, Saudi Arabia resumed issuing Umrah visas to international pilgrims. The ministry started issuing Nusuk Umrah permits on June 11. In the Umrah season calendar, the ministry clarified that it will stop accepting applications for qualifications of external agents, with contracts with Umrah companies being approved and documented on the first day of Shaaban of the following year. The first of Shawwal will be the last date for issuing Umrah visas, the 15th of the same month will be the last date for pilgrims to enter, while the first of Dhul Qi'dah will be the last date for pilgrims to leave the Kingdom.
