Byron was holidaying in Bali and shared a photo from a beachside restaurant... then his family received tragic news
An Aussie tourist has died in Bali after his holiday took a tragic turn with his family issuing an urgent plea to help bring his body home.
Sunshine Coast man Byron Haddow died while overseas with his heartbroken family announcing the news on Tuesday.
His father Robert shared an emotional message on Facebook.
'As most would be waking up to the news this morning and as most would understand we are trying to comprehend and deal with the initial shock,' he wrote.
'We ask you guys to give us time to try and get back to everyone's messages of condolences.'
Mr Haddow said he and Byron's mother Chantal were 'not sure where to look, think, and how to deal with this [at the moment] please understand'.
The family has not publicly stated how Byron died.
In his final posts to social media, he shared an image dining at a beachside restaurant in Kuta, Bali and another at what appeared to be an upmarket property with a sprawling poolside deck.
Earlier posts suggest the Byron previously travelled to Bali just under a year ago between drawn out stints mining across the Northern Territory.
'One extreme to the other out in the desert,' he wrote alongside one image. 'A month of looking at red dirt,' he said beside another.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help the family raise money to 'help bring Byron home'.
The fundraiser has so far raised $21,881 from 265 donations, more than doubling the target of $10,000.
'In the morning of the 26th of May we unfortunately lost Byron whilst he was on holidays in Bali,' the fundraiser read.
'A son, brother, and friend to many taken way too soon. As many of you know he was living his life to the fullest, working away, and achieving so many things.
'All donations will go towards helping bring Byron home to his family, funeral arrangements and expenses to help his family through this tough time.
'Please keep his family in your prayers and thoughts as they navigate through this difficult time. Any help is appreciated.'
Friends too have spoken out to remember a funny and ambitious young man.
'Rest in peace my brother from another mother, you've been taken too soon.
'I'll always remember the good days and times we have had and the mischief we made and got up to love you always brother. Rest in peace Byron Haddow you'll never be forgotten.'
Another shared a screenshot of a recent message to Byron alongside a comment reading: 'Was waiting for a message back from you bro.

Emilie Kiser's brother posts then deletes bizarre video after her son's drowning death
Influencer Emilie Kiser's brother posted then deleted a bizarre video of himself - just weeks after her three-year-old son fatally drowned in Arizona. Over the weekend, Kiser's sibling Nick Espinosa posted a video on Instagram of him appearing to allude to the horrific tragedy, stating that 'life will always throw you a curveball.' Espinosa, who has since made his account private, is the first family member to speak out after little Trigg Kiser tragically died on May 18 - six days after he was found unresponsive in a backyard pool. The influencer's brother, who often posts reflective clips of himself online, was seen getting into a car just before explaining how quickly life can change. 'One day everything feels aligned. You're making progress, chasing purpose, moving forward, then... just like that everything changes,' he narrated as the screen went black. The mommy blogger's brother then showed himself sitting with his head in his hands and staring into the distance. 'A call you never saw coming. A goodbye you didn't get to say. Don't wait for the world to remind you how fragile this life is. 'Put the phone down. Go touch grass. Spend time with the people you love. Focus on what truly matters because life doesn't wait,' he said as he got back in the car. Following the tragic ordeal at the family's pool, a neighbor told that the influencer's house was swarmed with five police cars. Emergency responders arrived and performed life-saving efforts until Trigg was airlifted to Phoenix Children's Hospital for specialized care. Kiser hasn't posted since the tragedy, but her followers have continued to flood her accounts with messages of support and condolences before she turned off her comment sections. Meanwhile, her husband Brady Kiser, Trigg's father, made his accounts private following his death. Just weeks after the horrific news spread, Emilie, who has more than four million followers on TikTok and frequently shares her life as a mother, filed a lawsuit against several agencies. The influencer filed a lawsuit using her maiden name, Henrichsen, last Tuesday against the City of Chandler, Chandler Police Department, Maricopa County, the county's medical examiner's office, and other agencies to permanently block public access to records related to her son's death. The lawsuit said that Kiser was 'going through a parent's worst nightmare right now' and the family 'desperately wanted to grieve in private.' 'Trigg's death has become a media frenzy. Appallingly, 100+ public record requests have been filed with both the City of Chandler and the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office,' the lawsuit continued. 'Emilie is trying her best to be there for her surviving son, two-month-old Theodore. But every day is a battle,' the suit said. Kiser's attorneys argued that the records presumably contain 'graphic, distressing, and intimate details' of the toddler's death. They continued that public access to the records 'has no bearing on government accountability.' 'To allow disclosure in these circumstances would be to turn Arizona's Public Records Law into a weapon of emotional harm, rather than a tool of government transparency,' the lawsuit added. The suit said that Kiser or her representation haven't reviewed the police report, security camera footage, scene photos, 911 recording, or autopsy photos. Kiser's lawyers added that the records weren't available to them, and the influencer doesn't intend to ever view the documents. In response to the lawsuit, Jason Berry, the director of communications for Maricopa County, which was named as a defendant, told NBC News: 'When Maricopa County learned the family was pursuing a court order to prevent the release of these records, the Office of the Medical Examiner worked with the family to place a seal on the record.' Just weeks after the horrific news spread, Emilie, who has more than four million followers on TikTok and frequently shares her life as a mother, filed a lawsuit against several agencies in a bid to get public records of Trigg's death permanently blocked Emilie and Brady first became parents in July 2021 when they welcomed their son Trigg. Just over two years later, in September 2024, the couple revealed they were expecting their second child. 'WE GOTTA BABY GROWING,' Kiser captioned a sonogram post. 'We can not wait to add another angel to our family. Whatever you are, we love you so much already.' In March, the Kiser family officially grew by one with the arrival of their second son, Teddy. Emilie announced the joyful news on Instagram, writing: 'We love you so much and our hearts feel like they are going to burst.' She also expressed gratitude for the experience, sharing: 'I am so grateful for a smooth delivery, a healthy baby, and the best husband. Could not have done it without my rock @bradykiser. The love I have for my boys is infinite.'

Boy who killed foster carer was placed with family despite concern, inquest told
A 12-year-old boy who ran over and killed his foster carer had been placed in her care six days before the tragedy despite concerns raised by a social worker, an inquest has heard. Marcia Grant, 60, had been working as a foster carer for seven years when she suffered catastrophic injuries as she tried to stop the boy taking her car outside her home in the Greenhill area of Sheffield on April 5 2023. The boy, referred to as Child X, was sentenced to two years in custody in November 2023 after admitting causing Mrs Grant's death by dangerous driving, when a murder charge was dropped. On Monday, a week-long inquest began at Sheffield Coroner's Court with her family saying: 'To say mum's life's calling was to help those in need is an understatement.' The hearing will look at Rotherham Council's decision to place Child X with Mrs Grant and her husband Delroy, the support they were given and the events outside their home on the evening of April 5, coroner Marilyn Whittle said. Ms Whittle heard how Mr and Mrs Grant were experienced foster carers who were highly regarded by the council's fostering team. They were caring for another child, referred to as Child Y, when a call went out to all Rotherham's foster carers for an emergency placement for Child X on March 30 2023. The inquest heard how Mr and Mrs Grant volunteered take him, despite them being categorised as only able to take in one child at a time, largely because of the complexities Child Y presented to them. But Ms Whittle heard that the rules meant that they could take another child for up to six days in an emergency situation. The coroner was told that the six days expired on April 5 – the day Mrs Grant died – and the boy was collected by social services but returned later that day. Social worker David Wade, who supported the Grants in their fostering, told the inquest that he was consulted about the initial emergency placement of Child X and said he did not agree with the decision because of the potential impact on Child Y, who was clearly being helped by the family. But Mr Wade said the decision was made by a more senior manager. The social worker told the court that he did not know the details of Child X's self-reported history of gang-related activity and possession of knives. He told the coroner that, if he did, he would have been more robust in his insistence that this was not a suitable placement. Mr Wade said he had absolutely no concerns over Mr and Mrs Grant's ability to care for Child X and stressed that his prime concerns were about the impact on Child Y. He said: 'They just wanted to help all the time. They were just incredibly open to helping children.' Matthew Boud, who worked at the time as head of service for Rotherham Council's children in care service, signed off on the placement of Child X with the Grants. He explained how council faced difficult, 'finely balanced' decisions over emergency placements and, if the Grants had not agreed to take the boy, he could have ended up in an unsuitable setting, possibly including a hotel or being transported miles from Rotherham. He said: 'We were desperately trying to provide some stability for Child X in that context.' Mr Boud said he thought it was an 'appropriate decision' in the circumstances. Child X's social worker Tessa Goodacre told the court she was not aware of concerns in the few days he was with the Grants. She was asked by the coroner whether she was 'aware that Mrs Grant was struggling and colleagues were saying she was looking shattered', but she said she was not aware. Ms Goodacre said the boy was very chatty and acted like a normal teenager. She said he enjoyed football and told her he wanted to be a police officer when he grew up. The social worker said she was aware Child X had a youth caution for possession of a knife and had talked about gang-related activities, which were not substantiated. The inquest opened on Monday with a pen-portrait of Mrs Grant, read by her daughter, Gemma. The family said she was a 'soul like no other' with an 'unshakeable ethical compass'. They said she was a 'proud and loving mother' with an 'infectious laugh'. The statement said: 'To say mum's life's calling was to help those in need is an understatement'. Ms Grant outlined her mother's long career working for charities and in social care, saying she always supported people who were 'overlooked, dismissed or mistreated'. She said she provided a 'safe haven for children in need' and added: 'She wore the achievements of those she loved as if they were her own.'

Faster Pussycat frontman Taime Downe finally breaks silence on fiancee's mystery cruise ship death
Faster Pussycat frontman Taime Downe has finally broken his silence on the mysterious cruise ship death of his fiancee Kimberly Burch. Burch, 56, fell to her death 'from a room balcony' on the first night of The 80s Cruise on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Explorer of the Seas on March 2. Realtor Kimberly had traveled on the seven day cruise to support Taime, who was performing with the punk band. The cruise departed from Miami and was set to visit Nassau, San Juan, and Labadee. A grieving Downe, 60, said on SiriusXM's Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk via Blabbermouth on May 30 he was 'hanging in there' as he navigates life without his longtime partner, saying: 'I'm just taking it a day at a time. 'And everybody thought going out on the road and doing what I do and being with my family in my band would be good for me. 'I loved the hell out of Kimberly, and it was just hard to deal with. We spent basically nine years together. 'I don't wanna get into what her psyche was at the time, but there's a lot of things that make up people's lives at a certain time of their life... It's been hard on everybody.' Downe also hit back at doubts over his sobriety amid his loss, saying: 'There's no way I'd touch booze. For me, that's just completely disgusting in my brain.' Hours before Burch's death she had posed up with Downe on the ship and wrote: 'We made it to @the80scruise.' Kimberly is said to have gone overboard on the first day of the cruise around 11pm PST - with a guest claiming on X she had 'jumped from the balcony of her 8th floor room' 80 miles from Miami. They wrote: 'Currently on the #RCL Explorer of the Seas for the #80scruise. Unfortunately, we have a "woman overboard' situation and boats have been deployed. We are currently 80+ miles from Miami at 11pm PST. Not good. 'It looks like the woman "jumped" from the balcony of her 8th floor room after an argument with her partner. This is our 15th cruise, and the first time we've actually experienced this. 'Clearly, the priority is recovering the woman. And the boat has turned around and is at a dead stop. They have deployed boats for the search. Could be a long night.... Another guest wrote: 'Person overboard on Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas. On the 80s Cruise. Just saw a great show by Squeeze, then it was announced a person is overboard. Ship is stopped and searching. Other nearby ships helping. Guests aboard the ship posted messages about the search on X A US Coast Guard spokesperson said the incident happened roughly 20 miles from Freeport, Bahamas. The Coast Guard deployed a helicopter crew and other personnel to assist the Royal Bahamas Defense Force in their search - which was later suspended. Kimberly and Taime had been together for around 'five or six years.' A passenger also told THR: 'There was an announcement over the PA saying someone went overboard so the ship was going to stop and turn around to try and locate the person. '[The] ship was stopped for a few hours. Safety boats were deployed with floodlights to illuminate the surrounding area. Another cruise ship nearby had its floodlights on searching as well. My wife spoke with some people on one of the decks saying they heard that it was a woman and it was caught on camera. Can't confirm though. 'Eventually the ship powered up and off we went. This morning a PA announcement said that the US Coast Guard had taken over the search. We arrived at Nassau, Bahamas a few hours behind schedule. No excursions were canceled. Haven't heard anything since.' previously contacted representatives for Taime Downe, The 80s Cruise and Royal Caribbean for comment. Kimberly's mother Carnell Burch told TMZ Taime had called her to reveal Kimberly had died and that it is 'still unclear' whether her daughter jumped or accidentally fell from the ship, although she is 'confident Kimberly would not purposefully hurt herself.' Kimberly was drinking on the cruise, Carnell said, which was 'out of character for her' and Carnell claimed her daughter had had an argument with Taime before her death. Carnell added her daughter was not suffering from depression or emotional issues at the time and was excited for the trip, which was in its first day and featured musical acts including Squeeze, Adam Ant, Tiffany and Men at Work. Glam metal band Faster Pussycat formed in 1985 comprised of Downe, guitarists Greg Steele and Brent Muscat and bassist Kelly Nickels. They forged a successful career over the late 1980s and early 1990s, selling over two million records worldwide They have released four albums, Faster Pussycat (1987), Wake Me When It's Over (1989), Whipped! (1992) and The Power and the Glory Hole (2006). They broke up in 1993, but reformed in 2001. Former drummer Brett Bradshaw died on March 26, 2021, at age 50.
