Government will provide all support to handicrafts and Kalamkari artisans
Tirupati: While stating that the government is committed to the welfare of artisans, District Collector S Venkateswar assured to extend all required support to the handicrafts and Kalamkari artisans in Tirupati district. The Collector visited the handicrafts and Kalamkari cluster in Madhavamala village near Srikalahasti on Thursday and interacted with artisans on various issues including the problems they were facing like more marketing facility and and better price for the handicrafts produced by them.
He also discussed the facilities required for providing them through The Balaji Wood Carving Artisans Mutual Aided Cooperative Society, which is based in the handicrafts cluster.
The collector said that Madhavamala wood carving and handicrafts have worldwide recognition revealing the enormous marketing potential. He said that he will discuss with Lepakshi management for increasing the purchase price of the handicrafts and convince the bankers to improve loan facility. The loan facility will be linked with the central government schemes for promotion of handicrafts with subsidies.
On the request of the artisans, the Collector said a depot will also be set up in Madhavamala for the storage of raw materials required for wood carvings. He also assured to give priority to artisans to set up their outlets in Dwakra Bazar Exhibitions, set up stalls in airport, shops in Tirumala and in TTD Kalyanamandapams at nominal rents. Immediate measures will also be taken to allot 3 cents of land to eligible artisans for house construction, he added. Srikalahasti RDO Bhanu Prakash Reddy, DRDA PD Shoban Babu, DRDA APD Prabhavati, Tahasildar Bhargavi, MPDO Sowbhagyamma were also present.

Rangareddy aims at timely completion of over 16K Indiramma houses
Rangareddy: Rangareddy district collector C Narayana Reddy has urged officials to ensure the timely construction of Indiramma homes approved within their operational areas, announcing that over 16,000 houses have been sanctioned across the district to date. Speaking at a recent video conference at the Collectorate concerning the implementation of the Indiramma house and Rajiv Vikasam Schemes, the Collector stated that the district administration is committed to benefiting all eligible individuals under the schemes. Consequently, all requisite measures are being implemented to ensure the prompt processing of applications. Mr Reddy instructed that grounding works for the sanctioned homes should commence immediately, ensuring their completion within a stipulated timeframe. The Collector further emphasised that the Indiramma scheme must be implemented effectively. He called for the establishment of a supervision committee in every mandal and directed that prices for materials such as sand, bricks, and crushed stone, alongside mason charges, should be determined. Elaborating on the number of beneficiaries selected under the Indiramma Housing scheme, the Collector confirmed that a total of 16,617 homes have been sanctioned for eligible individuals in the district. He noted that 839 applications remain pending for disposal, which will be cleared following scrutiny. As sand is being supplied free of charge for Indiramma Housing construction, the Collector stressed its availability for all beneficiaries. Regarding the Rajiv Vikasam scheme, Mr Reddy requested that the list of selected beneficiaries be submitted to his login. He stated that beneficiaries under this scheme should receive at least RS 1 lakh, to be disbursed in June. The video conference was attended by Project Director DRDA Rangareddy Srilatha, BC and Minority Welfare officers, among other senior officials.

Govt sets record with large-scale pension distribution at the doorstep
Gotkuru (Anantapur district): Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav participated in the pension distribution drive under the NTR Bharosa Scheme in Gotkuru village, Kuderu Mandal, on Saturday. The Minister accompanied by district Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V visited the homes of beneficiaries and personally handed over pensions. Speaking on the occasion, Keshav highlighted that the State government is distributing pensions on the 1st of every month, or a day earlier if it falls on a Sunday, ensuring timely support to the needy. The distribution is conducted at beneficiaries' doorsteps, with participation from top-level leaders including Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu down to village-level functionaries. He emphasised that Andhra Pradesh is the only State in India implementing pension distribution on such a massive scale, covering nearly 60 lakh beneficiaries with monthly pensions ranging from Rs 4,000 to Rs 15,000. Despite severe financial burdens and outstanding dues exceeding Rs 10 lakh crore, the government remains committed to fulfilling its promises. Minister Keshav assured that schemes like Annadata Sukhibhava (for farmers) and Thalliki Vandanam (educational support for children) will be implemented soon. He criticized the previous government for pushing the State into financial distress and hailed Chief Minister Naidu's leadership for steering Andhra Pradesh back on track through welfare and economic reforms. District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar stated that Rs 124 crore is being distributed to 2,77,834 pensioners across the district. Since June 1st falls on a Sunday, the distribution was conducted a day earlier, ensuring smooth and timely delivery. Other officials present included RDO Keshava Naidu, DRDA PD Shailaja, Tahsildar Mahboob Basha, and MPDO Kullayi Swamy.

Now, FIR for 7cr NREGA scam in Bharuch
Surat: Police registered an FIR on Friday for an alleged scam worth Rs 7 crore in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) scheme in Bharuch district. This came after an inquiry was conducted by the Bharuch district panchayat and the district rural development agency (DRDA). The inquiry uncovered irregularities worth Rs 19 lakh in 11 road projects executed by two agencies. The scope of the ongoing investigation covers road works in over 50 villages, including scrutiny of construction materials used. Police have booked Piyush Ratilal Nukani, the proprietor of Jalaram Enterprise, and Jodha Naran Sabhad, the owner of Murlidhar Enterprise. The registered addresses of both firms are in Supasi village near Veraval. The FIR was filed at Bharuch A Division police station under sections of the Indian Penal Code dealing with forgery and breach of trust. The complaint was filed by Pratik Chaudhary, assistant project officer at the DRDA. The investigation is being led by inspector R M Vasava of Bharuch A Division police station. Police said more names will be added to the FIR as their roles become clear and evidence is gathered. "The FIR is currently based on findings from 11 villages involving Rs 19 lakh in irregularities. However, road work was carried out in over 50 villages, and the total scam value may exceed Rs 7 crore," a police official added.
