Taylor Swift fans are accusing the American Music Awards (AMAs) of muting the singer's cheers during Monday's show.
Newsweek reached out to Penske Media Corporation, the company behind the AMAs, via email for comment on Tuesday.
The Context
The AMAs took place at the luxury resort Fontainebleau Las Vegas, with Jennifer Lopez hosting the event for the first time in a decade. Kendrick Lamar dominated the nominations with 10 nods, though only took home one award for Favorite Hip-Hop Song. Billie Eilish won in all seven categories she was nominated, but Swift—who was up for six awards—didn't win any.
The billionaire pop star, 35, was nominated for: Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Collaboration of the Year (with Post Malone), Favorite Touring Artist, Favorite Female Pop Artist and Favorite Pop Album. She did not attend the ceremony.

What To Know
On Tuesday, social media account tscrazier took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a viral video from the AMAs of the Artist of the Year announcement.
"AMAs muting the cheers when Taylor was announced was so nasty and disrespectful," she wrote. "this is how you treat your most awarded AMA artist??"
At the time of publication, the clip had racked up more than 281,500 views.

In a follow-up clip from Swift fan svviftlet, which showed a different angle, tscrazier wrote, "she was cheered for LOUDLY btw."
Swifties—the nickname given to Swift's fans—were hoping for a big announcement during the AMAs. In recent weeks, fans pointed out what they thought were clues of a new album.
The speculation began when they noticed Swift's online store spelled out "AMAs" with the first letters of the words: Apparel, Music, Accessories and Sale. There were also 12 items for sale on her website at 26 percent off. Per Swifties, those numbers were noteworthy, as the Grammy Award winner's next album will be her 12th, and the AMAs were on May 26.
Fuel was later added to the rumor when "Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor's Version)" was featured in a recent episode of The Handmaid's Tale. That being said, the tune had previously debuted in 2023's Wilderness.
What People Are Saying
Swift's fans vented their frustrations with the AMAs on X.
X user hayleytv13 wrote in a comment with 273,100 views and more than 7,800 likes: "Why does it feel like something happened? They muted the fans during her part, they didn't include her in the mashup and she didn't win one award or have any acknowledgment, not even Taylor nation showed up. WHAT?!??? I'm confused."
taybehere said in a note with 62,600 views and 2,500 likes: "A side-by-side comparison of how the audience actually reacted vs. what the AMAs showed. They muted the cheers. if this doesn't prove that the whole thing is completely rigged, then idk what to tell you."
chartstswift added in a message with 111,100 views and 5,300 likes: "If the @AMAs muting the crowd cheering for Taylor during the category announcements isn't proof that these wins were heavily manipulated, I don't know what is."
repvtaylor shared: "The AMAs really muted when people cheered for Taylor, this says everything we need to know."
What Happens Next
Swift has largely been staying out of the spotlight following her record-breaking Eras Tour, though she was recently seen on a date with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. However, Kelce—who is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs—will resume his regular NFL season in September, which means Swifties may soon catch a glimpse of the "Cruel Summer" singer in the crowd cheering him on.

Top WWE Superstar Pitches One More Match With John Cena
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Seth Rollins has expressed a strong desire to share the ring with John Cena one more time before the 17-time World Champion's retirement at the end of 2025. In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rollins called out his former rival, referencing their heated history. This comes as Cena is in the midst of his final year as an active competitor, a heel "retirement tour" as the Undisputed WWE Champion. This has led many WWE fans to speculate about which classic rivalries Cena might revisit before he hangs up his boots for good. When asked about facing Cena again, Rollins stated, "I hope so. I hope so." He then referenced a more recent, positive experience teaming with Cena in India in September 2023. "John and I teamed a couple of years ago in India at a random show, a wonderful show there. I teamed with him and it was one of the wildest experiences I've ever had in a ring." Despite their successful team-up, Rollins made his competitive intentions clear. "I would love to face off with him one more time and get another chance to break his big old nose," Rollins declared. He immediately warned: "This knee is coming for you, John. I'd love to get one in before he hangs it up." MoreMore news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation Rollins' comment about breaking Cena's nose directly references their famous feud in 2014 and 2015. On the July 27, 2015, episode of Raw, Rollins' knee strike legitimately broke Cena's nose during a match. Their rivalry was a cornerstone of WWE programming during that era, culminating in a "Winner Take All" match at SummerSlam 2015, where Rollins defeated Cena to hold both the WWE and United States Championships. Currently, both men are top heels on their respective brands. Rollins is a leader of a new dominant faction on Raw and is a participant in this Saturday's Money in the Bank ladder match. Cena, aligned with Logan Paul, is set to face Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso in a major tag team match at the same premium live event. With Cena's retirement tour ending in December, the window for a final, epic showdown between the two former rivals is closing. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

Owner Leaves Dog Alone With Relaxing Music—Unprepared for What Petcam Shows
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A viral video of an American XL bully named Ragnar has warmed the hearts of viewers on TikTok—thanks to his hilariously chill reaction to some relaxing tunes. The video, which was posted to Instagram by the pet's owners on June 4, shows Ragnar fully sprawled out on his dog bed, front legs extended and head buried contently on the cushion, exuding total peace. An overlaid text on the video added more context: "Left my dog home alone with relaxing music… This is what I saw when I checked the camera… I think it worked." The caption read: "10/10 would recommend dog relaxing music!" There is some science behind the lighthearted post, because music—particularly classical music—is proven to have a soothing effect on dogs. Research by the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and the University of Glasgow found that classical music can reduce stress levels in canines a significant amount. In the 2015 study, researchers observed dogs in a shelter and found a notable decrease in stress behaviors, such as barking and pacing, when classical music was played around them. The American Kennel Club also recommends soft classical or reggae music for dogs who suffer from separation anxiety, noting that the rhythm and tempo help promote a sense of stability and security. Since it was posted, the video from @ragnarthebullyxl has racked up over 400,000 likes and more than 1.4 million views on the platform. The comments section is flooded with users expressing laughter and amazement at the canine's tranquil state, with one commenter writing, "Dude's sleeping like he pays the bills." "'Pit bulls are mean' literally pit bulls:" Another viewer said. "Now I feel better for leaving my dog relaxing music," another added. "OMG I do this for my dog everyday when I'm out and she is always dead asleep," a third viewer shared. "Him sleeping like that while [you are] at work paying for that TV to stay on so he can listen to his music," another said. "This is literally what my dog does if not he's watching Bluey and people get made I leave him alone trust me he's living his life," another added. Taylor Swift loses youngest self-made female billionaire title to a tech-savvy Swiftie
Taylor Swift is no longer the world's youngest self-made female billionaire – that crown now belongs to an unexpected successor: a Swiftie. Tech entrepreneur Lucy Guo (30) has surpassed Tay Tay (35) with a net worth of $1,3 billion (R23,4bn). This week Forbes released their list of America's richest self-made women and Lucy is at No 26 while Taylor ranks at 21. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lucy Guo (@guoforit) Lucy is a Chinese-American who took to coding while in Grade 2. One of her first businesses was selling Pokémon cards in primary school. Now she owns an impressive Pokémon collection. She's worked for leading companies, including Quora, Facebook and Snapchat. Initially she studied computer science at Carnegie Mellon University but two years later she dropped out when she was offered a Thiel Fellowship worth $100 000 (now R1,8 million). Lucy co-founded Scale AI – an AI data platform worth $25bn (R450bn) – with Alexandr Wang in 2016. Then aged 21 she headed operations and production design teams while Alexandr (then 19) served as CEO. The role ensured her spot on Forbes' 30 Under 30 list in 2018. In the same year she was fired after they 'had a difference of opinion'. She still has a 5% stake in the company that's estimated to be worth $1,2bn (R21,6bn), which is how she got her latest title. After losing her job at the company she co-founded, Lucy started over from scratch. In 2022 she founded and became the CEO of Passes – a content-creation platform that's been dubbed a family-friendly OnlyFans. She claims to attend two work classes a day and orders from UberEats instead of cooking or grocery shopping. Lucy met Taylor and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at Coachella last year. She commented on a video of her and the star with a checklist: met Taylor Swift, danced with Rihanna all night, took over Coachella. ✅ Met Taylor Swift ✅ Danced with Rihanna all night ✅ Took over Coachella — Lucy Guo (@lucy_guo) April 15, 2024 Lucy lives between two properties, an apartment in Miami and a house in Los Angeles. But I've made a lot of friends because I think people appreciate my savage personality,' she told The New York Post.
