10 more Palestinians killed in Israel strikes
Gaza's civil defence agency said Israeli strikes killed at least 10 people in the battered Palestinian territory on Thursday as the military keeps up an intensified offensive.
According to the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza, at least 4,335 people have been killed since Israel resumed its offensive on March 18, taking the war's overall toll to 54,607, mostly civilians.
"Ten martyrs so far resulting from Israeli strikes since dawn," agency spokesman Mahmud Bassal told the media, adding that they had targeted an area where displaced civilians were sheltering in the southern city of Khan Yunis and houses in Gaza City and the central town of Deir Al Balah.

The Israeli military did not immediately respond to an AFP request for comment.
Israel has stepped up its offensive in what it says is a bid to defeat Hamas, whose October 7, 2023 attack sparked the war.
Hamas's unprecedented attack on Israel resulted in the deaths of 1,218 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official figures.

GHF halted distributions on Wednesday and said it was pressing Israeli forces to improve civilian safety beyond the perimeter of its operations after dozens of Palestinians were shot dead near the Rafah site over three consecutive days. The Israeli military said on Sunday and Monday that its soldiers had fired warning shots. On Tuesday, it said, forces also fired warning shots before firing towards Palestinians that it said were advancing towards troops. GHF has said that aid was safely handed out from its sites without any incident. Israel has re-intensified an offensive against Gaza's dominant Hamas group since breaking a two-month-old ceasefire in March in a war triggered by Hamas' cross-border attack on October 7, 2023.

Hamas says ready for 'serious' Gaza ceasefire talks
Hamas said it was ready to enter a new round of talks aimed at bringing about a permanent ceasefire in Gaza where Palestinians continue to face relentless Israeli bombardment and crushing shortages. The group's lead negotiator Khalil Al Hayya made the remarks in a speech marking the start of Eid Al Adha as Gazans observe another religious holiday at war. "We reaffirm that we are ready for a new, serious round of negotiations aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement," Mr Al Hayya said, adding that the group was still in contact with mediators. Talks aimed at bringing about a new truce have failed to reach a breakthrough since the last brief ceasefire collapsed in March when Israel resumed attacks in Gaza. Israel and Hamas appeared close to an agreement late last month but no progress was made after the US criticised the group's response to its proposal for a deal. The group submitted its response to the Gaza truce plan presented by Washington's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. It neither accepted nor rejected the deal, but Mr Witkoff called the response 'totally unacceptable'. He said it 'only takes us backwards' and called on Hamas to accept the US proposal. Mr Al Hayya said the group had not actually rejected Mr Witkoff's proposal but that it had submitted demands for a guarantee of a permanent ceasefire following any hostage release. He added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was to blame for the impasse.
