Ahmedabad-London, Delhi-Paris Air India flights cancelled
MUMBAI: Air India has cancelled its Delhi-Paris flight today after some problems were identified during pre-flight checks, according to the airline.
This is the second cancellation of an Air India flight today as earlier, airport officials confirmed that the AI-159 flight from Ahmedabad to the Gatwick airport in London was cancelled due to "operational issues."
Flight AI-171, which crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad on June 12, has been replaced with a new code AI-159. The plane was scheduled to depart at 3 pm from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
Air India further said that the "issue" is being addressed.
Consequently, the return flight AI142 from Paris to Delhi of June 18 also stands cancelled, it said.
"However, in view of the flight coming under the restrictions on night operations at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport, the said the flight has been cancelled," Air India said.
The airline said that it is providing hotel accommodation and also offering full refunds on cancellations or complimentary rescheduling, if opted by the passengers.
Air India also said it is making alternative arrangements to fly passengers to their destination at the earliest.

There were seven Portuguese nationals on the passenger list of the Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London, which crashed on June 12. It turns out all seven had their roots in the island of Diu, the former Portuguese colony on the western coast of India. According to local officials, a total of 14 deaths from the crash were of passengers with links to Diu, including nine from Bucharwada gram panchayat. The sole survivor, Viswashkumar Ramesh, is among others with roots in Diu who are British nationals. 'Many from villages in Diu have taken up citizenship of Portugal and the UK but they remain connected to their roots and make at least one annual visit to meet elders back home or attend weddings and major festivals,' Dinesh Bhanubhai, a panchayat member of Bucharwada, told The Indian Express. According to officials from the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu, the Air India crash brought grief to many families in the region whose members were on 'regular visits'. Of the over 50,000 population of Diu, they estimated that at least half the households have members who have taken up Portuguese citizenship or are British nationals. 'Most residents depend on fishing and tourism for their livelihood, and most families have members who have taken up Portuguese citizenship for future prospects. Some of those abroad help in managing local businesses, such as fishing, which is handled by their families back home. Hence, they visit frequently. Youngsters eligible for citizenship continue to aspire to settle in Portugal,' Bhanubhai said. The unique link in Diu's history dates back to the 16th century when it became a colony of Portugal until the island joined India in 1961. Portugal, subsequently, allowed those born in its erstwhile 'Estado da India' (state of India) to retain Portuguese nationality — an offer that also covered two generations of their descendants. According to officials, many from the villages of Diu further chose to become British nationals. Once they obtained Portuguese citizenship, they were permitted to stay and work in the UK when the country was part of the EU. And once they stayed for a certain period of time in the UK, they were eligible to seek dual citizenship — a route chosen by several Goans to become British nationals. Since the crash, several people from villages in Diu have travelled to Ahmedabad to help in the identification of loved ones. On Monday, officials said two bodies were sent to Diu after identification. The seven Portuguese nationals with links to Diu who lost their lives have been identified as Chandu Baguane, Santubhai Bica, Hemaxi Shantilal, Vanita Kanha, Devji Lachmane, Girish Lalji and R Vassaramo Premgi. The lone survivor Viswash and his brother Ajay were also on a visit to Diu to also help manage the local fishing business of his family. Ajay died in the crash.

New Delhi [India], June 17 (ANI): Air India on Tuesday said that its flight from Bengaluru to London's Heathrow was cancelled on Tuesday due to the unavailability of the aircraft, following government-mandated inspections across the Boeing 787 fleet, as per sources. According to sources, this was a scheduled operational cancellation, and all impacted passengers were informed in advance. Air India provided options for rebooking, full refunds, and free cancellations. Apart from this, a flight from Ahmedabad to Gatwick in London was also cancelled on Tuesday due to the unavailability of the aircraft, resulting from airspace restrictions and additional precautionary checks. The airline denied claims that the flight has been cancelled due to any technical snag. Regretting the inconvenience caused to passengers, the airline said that alternative arrangements have been made to fly them to their destination. It said hotel accommodation is being provided, and refunds on cancellations or complimentary rescheduling are also being offered if opted by the passengers 'Flight AI159 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick has been cancelled today due to the unavailability of the aircraft, resulting from airspace restrictions and additional precautionary checks, leading to longer than usual turnaround of aircraft, and not due to any technical snag as claimed,' the airline said. Consequently, flight AI170 from London Gatwick to Amritsar on 17th June stands cancelled,' it added. There have been airspace restrictions due to Iran-Israel conflict. The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft crashed into a hostel complex shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, killing 241 passengers and crew, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. One passenger, Vishwas Kumar, survived the tragic incident. (ANI)

Air India flight from Bengaluru to London cancelled for checks
Bengaluru: Air India's AI133 flight from Bengaluru to London, scheduled to depart at 2.15pm Monday, was cancelled due to ongoing safety inspections mandated by the govt on certain Boeing aircraft. According to an airport official, this was a scheduled cancellation and all passengers were informed in advance. The aircraft was undergoing routine checks as part of a broader directive concerning Boeing fleet. "Safety checks are still under way. All affected passengers were offered a free rescheduling option or full refund," said an airport source. The flight was originally set to reach London at 8.20pm local time on June 17.
