Mr's Paul's Po Boys and Jams closes, with new concept planned in Edina

Yahoo13-02-2025

Mr. Paul's Supper Club in Edina is planning a new concept to replace Mr. Paul's Po Boys and Jams.
The sandwich shop, located in the back bar of Mr. Paul's Supper Club in the Nolan Mains development at 50th and France, closed on Feb. 9, as did its stall at the The Market at Malcolm Yards food hall in Northeast Minneapolis.
The Edina location also hosted the Back Door Burger Bar on select Fridays and Saturdays, which Mr. Paul's said would continue once the new concept is open.
The popular New Orleans-style supper club led by by Chef Tommy Begnaud is staying open as its team prepares its replacement for the sandwich shop. Begnaud and his team also recently opened Mothership Pizza Paradise in the 50th and France neighborhood.
"After three wonderful years serving po'boys at our Edina location and one memorable year at Malcolm Yards, we have made the bittersweet decision to retire the Mr. Paul's Po Boys and Jams concept," it said.
"As we bid farewell to this beloved menu, we are excited for the future. We know The Market at Malcolm Yards will find another fantastic concept to fill this space, and we will be closing our Edina location to make way for something new. But never fear – our beloved Burger Bar will return in some form in the newly designed space!"
It was announced this week that the Mr. Paul's Po Boys and Jams space at Malcolm Yards will be filled by World Street Kitchen.

Trump Accused of Stealing King Charles' Thunder After the Royal Made a Clear Stance Against the President

The British Royal family is always in the news. Either it's reports about the King's deteriorating health, his feud with Prince Harry or rumours of possible divorce for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Prince William and Kate Middleton. But King Charles, who has been mostly in the news lately because of his cancer and possible succession plans, is now making headlines for another reason. Or, he's making headlines for someone else's actions. This all goes back to U.S. President Donald Trump, with whom King Charles has always had a very good relationship. The President is having a military parade to celebrate his birthday on Saturday, June 14. It just so happens that's the same day when King Charles and other members of the British royal family will stand on the balcony at Buckingham Palace in London for Trooping the Colour. More from StyleCaster Prince William Faces Devastating News After King Charles' Cancer Found 'Incurable' Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Latest Absence Speaks Volumes About His Relationship With King Charles After Reports He's 'Stuck' in the Past Related: Here are the celebrities who support Donald Trump For nearly 300 years, Trooping the Colour has been a celebration of the monarch's birthday—even if King Charles' birthday is months away. Now, President Trump is staging his version of a royal military parade, on the same day, no less. Vanity Fair writer Erin Vanderhoof said 'the purposes of the two parades couldn't be more different,' but comparisons seem inveitable and some people even feel like Trump is trying to steal King Charles' thunder. Trump's military parade is said to be more of a Soviet-style' extravaganza, with battle tanks and Paladin self-propelled howitzers. The parade is not just supposedly celebrating Trump's birthday, but also the 250th anniversary of the Army and Flag Day. Numerous 'No Kings' protests are scheduled to take place around the country during the same time as the parade. According to Axios, President Trump got the idea for a parade after attending France's Bastille Day parade in 2017, but had to cancel his plans in 2018 due to costs. However, Trump has always been a fan of the British Royal family and has attempted to present his family as American royalty, which might explain the insistence on the birthday military parade. King Charles recently took a strong stance against President Donald Trump in a speech to Canada's parliament. This came amid threats from the US President to annex Canada and make it the 51st state. 'We must face reality: since the Second World War, our world has never been more dangerous and unstable. Canada is facing challenges that, in our lifetimes, are unprecedented,' Charles said in French. Though Charles did not specifically address Trump in the speech, he did talk about the fact that 'many Canadians are feeling anxious and worried about the drastically changing world around them' and affirmed Canada's sovereignty, saying the 'True North is indeed strong and free.' According to the Associated Press, the King does not write his speeches in Parliament, and instead, he reads what the Canadian government provides. Recently, King Charles reportedly wrote a letter to President Trump, looking for another state dinner. 'Quite apart from this presenting an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest, it would also offer a valuable chance to plan a historic second state visit to the United Kingdom. As you will know, this is unprecedented by a US president. That is why I would find it helpful for us to be able to discuss, together, a range of options for location and programme content,' Trump said about the letter. Whether the relationship between the King of England and the President of the United States will remain on such cordial terms after Trump's birthday parade, on the same day as Trooping the Colour, and the inevitable comparisons, remains to be seen. Palace Pub to take the place of Wrestaurant at the Palace starting next week

The restaurant next door to the Palace Theatre in downtown St. Paul is finally reopening after extensive water damage caused its closure last fall. The new name for the restaurant, which will be run by First Avenue, is Palace Pub. Wrestaurant at the Palace is no more. 'After months of repairs and reflection, we made the decision to officially close that chapter,' the First Avenue folks said in a news release. 'Now, we're ready for what's next.' The restaurant will officially open Tuesday, June 17, with happy hour, dinner and late-night bites. The menu includes thin-crust pizza (a stark departure from Wrestaurant's thick-crust Detroit-style pies), sandwiches and appetizers. There will be a full bar with a cocktail menu, local beer, wine, THC beverages and other non-alcoholic options. Regular hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. with the kitchen open until 11 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on Friday and Saturday. The restaurant will also open on Sunday or Monday if there are events at the Palace or the Xcel Energy Center. 'We're excited to bring something fresh to this iconic space,' said Marc Dickhut, First Avenue director of general operations, in the release. 'Our team has put the time into creating a spot that feels easy, welcoming, and fun — whether you're grabbing a quick drink before a show, hanging late with friends, or stopping in for food downtown. We can't wait to open the doors and be part of the renewed energy in downtown St. Paul.' The Palace Theatre is owned by the city and co-managed by First Avenue and JAM Productions. Palace Pub: 33 W. MAKfam chef falls short on "Chopped"

Chef Kenneth Wan, the creative force behind Denver's MAKfam, says his inventive Cantonese food is best enjoyed with your hands, no utensils necessary. Zoom in: This hands-on approach made him well-equipped for his appearance on this week's episode of Food Network's "Chopped," a competition that challenges chefs to create original dishes from a basket of ingredients. Wan and three other cooks created dishes designed to be devoured in a buzzy, late-night setting, aligning with the episode's theme — "Night Market Madness." Yes, but: Wan, a two-time James Beard Award semifinalist, finished runner-up in the "Chopped" contest, making the final round for a chance to craft arguably the hardest dish, dessert. He dazzled the judge's panel with his grilled langoustine appetizer and a Hong Kong-style French toast called sai do si, which he topped with candied bugs.
