Former Florida principal, teacher charged in drunken house party involving more than 100 students
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The State Attorney's Office for the 18th Judicial Circuit announced Tuesday that it has filed charges against two Florida educators accused of hosting a drunken house party that involved more than 100 students.
According to an arrest affidavit, Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, the former principal of Roosevelt Elementary School, and Karly Anderson, a former third-grade teacher, were arrested in January by the Cocoa Police Department.
Officers said more than 100 students consumed alcohol during the principal's house party. Anderson was reportedly at the party as a guest.
'While officers were investigating the party, a juvenile was located on the front lawn experiencing an alcohol-related medical event,' officers said. 'The juvenile was so heavily intoxicated that Brevard County Fire Rescue had to respond to treat them.'

Students told officers that 'parties like this happen once or twice a month,' according to the affidavit.
The students also said the party was advertised on Snapchat, and that Hill-Brodigan had students help prepare for it.
Investigators were told that alcohol was readily available in multiple coolers, some people were using marijuana, and one student was seen pointing a gun at another person who was recording.
NBC affiliate WESH reported that Brevard County Public Schools placed Hill-Brodigan and Anderson on leave during the investigation.
Hill-Brodigan was charged with:
One count of child neglect, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison, five years probation, and a $5,000 fine.
Five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a first-degree misdemeanor. Each count is punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
One count of holding an open house party, a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail, six months probation, and/or a $500 fine.
Anderson was charged with:
One count of disorderly conduct, a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine
One count of disorderly intoxication, a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
'Florida's laws dealing with open house parties and underage drinking are meant to keep our young people and communities safe. These laws are in place to deter the conduct that exposes our youth to harm and gives rise to these criminal charges,' State Attorney William Scheiner said. 'When laws are violated, the State Attorney's Office stands with law enforcement, the school board and the community we serve to hold the offenders accountable and ensure the safety of our youth.'

Wesley Chapel family says dog survived alligator attack in their backyard
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A family in Wesley Chapel is traumatized after their rescue dog was attacked by an alligator in their backyard. A video shows Zeus, a German Shepherd, standing on a leash with a gator lurking just beyond the fence, a chilling moment the family now views as a warning. 'We have a doggy door, and Zeus will go in and out of it whenever he wants,' said Susan Alkhatib. Alkhatib and her family ran outside with flashlights and caught a glimpse of Zeus struggling in the pond with the gator still latched onto him. 'The alligator had just let go of Zeus,' Alkhatib said. 'We started yelling at him to come toward us. When he got closer, he got tired. So we had to kind of go into the pond a little bit to get him.' While News Channel 8 was interviewing the family, a gator emerged from the water again before slipping back in. 'I have a 7-year-old sister,' said one family member. 'And I just think, if she was at the fence, would he have done the same thing to her?' Zeus miraculously survived the attack. He suffered a fractured and displaced jaw, along with multiple puncture wounds around his neck. 'The vet said it looked like his whole head was in the gator's mouth,' said Alkhatib. 'Even he said, 'I don't know how he survived.'' 'I honestly can't believe he is alive,' Alkhatib said. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has sent out trappers, but so far, they have not been able to capture the gator. Zeus is now recovering from several surgeries. Milwaukee sicko Maxwell Anderson found guilty of murdering, dismembering college student Sade Robinson after first date
A Wisconsin sicko was found guilty of killing and dismembering a 19-year-old college co-ed on their first date in a grisly scene eerily similar to a Netflix documentary he watched days earlier. Maxwell Anderson, 34, sat stone-faced as Judge Laura Crivello read the guilty verdicts in the April 2024 murder of Sade Carleena Robinson after the jury discussed for less than an hour Friday afternoon. Robinson was studying criminal justice at Milwaukee Area Technical College when she met Anderson for dinner on April 1, 2024. Robinson, who was described as being excited for the date, went out to a restaurant and a bar with Anderson before returning to his Milwaukee home. She was reported missing on April 2 when she didn't show up for her shift at a pizzeria. AP Robinson's sawed-off leg was found on the shores of Lake Michigan that same day the police visited her residence. 'I physically felt like I was gonna throw up at that point. I know a lot of people were shaking and crying.' Some of the photos captured Anderson groping Robinson as she lay face down on his couch. Prosecutors said Robinson was incapacitated at that point and could not have resisted. She said the photos were a turning point in the trials as they physically put Robinson inside the home of her soon-to-be killer. After the brutal killing, Anderson drove Robinson's 2020 Honda Civic around Milwaukee for some time before parking it in North Milwaukee and lighting it on fire. 'He was just making circles around the city and probably just kind of panicking,' Blascoe said. It took the jury 45 minutes to reach a guilty verdict, with the majority of the discussion focusing on the technicalities of the law. He was ultimately found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, hiding a corpse and arson. Robinson was remembered by her family, who attended the hearing Friday. 'She will forever be remembered as an angel,' said Sheena Scarbrough, Robinson's mother said outside the courthouse. 'My baby solved her own case. That's how I raised my kids. We don't give up. We are fighters. I demanded justice. I stand tall, I stand affirmative. Sade will continue to walk with me daily and right beside me.' 7 Anderson faces a mandatory life sentence, but Judge Laura Crivello could sentence him to additional extended supervision.
