
India's rapid growth inspires new goals for Yamato Logistics
New Delhi [India], May 16 (ANI): Daisuke Ito, CEO of Yamato Logistics India, is steering the Indian arm of Japan's leading transport company, Yamato Transport Co., through a period of strategic growth and deepening integration with the country's rapidly evolving economy.
Yamato entered the Indian market in 2008, initially offering in-factory logistics services primarily to Japanese automobile manufacturers.
Since then, the company has steadily expanded its operations, now covering ten major Indian cities and operating four large logistics centres.
These centres manage a wide range of services, including parts storage, facility maintenance, and supply chain coordination.
'Our journey in India began with humble but strategic steps,' said Ito. 'The objective was to introduce Yamato's service values--convenience, reliability, and comfort--to a market full of potential and transformation.'
Yamato Transport has long been recognised in Japan for its rigorous service management standards.
Ito highlighted the efforts made to adapt and instil those values within the Indian workforce.
Through close collaboration between Japanese staff and local employees, the company introduced its core logistics practices--such as inventory control, sanitation, and training--tailored to the Indian industrial environment.
'One of the pillars of our success has been the sharing of job philosophy,' Ito noted. 'We built our foundation on three key principles: reporting, communication, and consultation.'
Today, Yamato Logistics India employs over 100 full-time staff who have been trained in the company's Japanese-style logistics methods.
The result is a reliable, consistent service offering that caters to a growing list of corporate clients.
Ito also acknowledged the rapid pace of India's economic development, especially the rise of mobile commerce and digital transactions.
While Yamato India's focus remains on business-to-business logistics, he believes India's dynamic market will soon demand new services, particularly in international supply chain solutions.
'With India's industrial base growing stronger, I foresee increased demand for overseas logistics--especially to regions like the Middle East and Africa,' Ito said. 'What's important now is to achieve a balance between adaptation and harmonisation with the Indian market.'

‘Investors from US, Middle East interested…': Adani Airport Holdings may raise $1 billion in equity; first time from external investor
The airport division, which is entirely owned by Adani Enterprises Ltd, has an estimated value of $20 billion. Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) is considering raising approximately $1 billion in equity from international investors whilst assessing expansion strategies and possible acquisitions, Adani Group CFO Jugeshinder Singh has said. The airport venture will be seeking external investor equity funding for the first time. The airport division, which is entirely owned by Adani Enterprises Ltd, has an estimated value of $20 billion, according to sources quoted in an ET report. This valuation surpasses GMR Airport's market capitalisation of $10.4 billion. GMR operates airports across various locations including New Delhi, Hyderabad, Goa and Nagpur. AAHL, which holds the position of India's largest private airport operator, currently manages seven airports - Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram. The company is completing its eighth airport in Navi Mumbai, scheduled to commence operations in August. Adani Airport Holdings Seeks International Investors "Everyone wants to do airports with us - investors from the US, Middle East and Australia have evinced interest in investing in the business," said Sagar Adani, nephew of group chairman Gautam Adani. Sagar Adani is also executive director, Adani Green Energy. CareEdge Ratings estimates that India's air passenger traffic will grow at 9% CAGR between FY25 and FY27, reaching a volume of 485 million. Adani Airports Across India According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, India's domestic air passenger traffic showed a 10.35% yearly increase in FY25. Airlines transported 14.54 million passengers across their routes. AAHL plans to capitalise on this growth by expanding its infrastructure, particularly with airports in Mumbai-Navi Mumbai and other strategic locations, aiming to triple its capacity over the next 15 years. Adani CFO Singh indicated uncertainty about their immediate plans, saying, "We also have not decided whether we want to do it or not yet. So what we are thinking about is — is it a good idea for us to do it right now or should we wait two-three years once the build-out happens and the value is established." In January, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) provided an investment of ₹6,300 crore to GMR Enterprises (GEPL), the promoter entity of GMR Group, to decrease their debt burden. Regarding expansion plans, Singh said, "We are open to acquisitions in India and internationally. For international deals, it will have to be an international city pair which caters to an Indian diaspora. If there's a lot of Indian passengers going to a specific airport in some other city in the world, and if that opportunity comes up, we will look at that." The organisation plans to establish the airport business as an independent subsidiary within the next two-three years, before proceeding with its listing. AAHL reported a 7% increase in passenger traffic, handling 94 million passengers in FY25 compared to FY24. India's goods, services exports may cross $900 billion this year: Piyush Goyal
India's goods and services exports during 2025-26 are expected to cross $900 billion despite the global economic uncertainties, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said. Despite uncertainties due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Israel-Hamas war and the Red Sea crisis, the country's overall exports touched an all-time high of $825 billion in 2024-25 against $778 billion in 2023-24. "We have crossed $825 billion exports last year, we are surely to cross $900 billion this year in all this global turmoil," he has said here while addressing the Indian business delegation last night. The Minister is in Stockholm on an official visit to meet his Swedish counterpart and companies for promoting trade and investments between the two countries. Apex exporters' body FIEO has projected that the country's overall goods and services exports are expected to grow by over 21% year-on-year to $1 trillion during 2025-26.
