A New Series of Educational and Trade-Focused Events Showcases the Wines of Abruzzo in Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York City
NEW YORK, June 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a successful spring tour, The Charming Taste of Europe continues its 2025 campaign in the U.S. market with a new series of events designed to promote high-quality European wines and agricultural products to American trade, media, and consumers. The next round of initiatives brings the campaign to Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York City, shining a spotlight on a curated selection of products from Italy, France, and Greece, and highlighting the unique winemaking heritage of the Abruzzo region through masterclasses, tastings, and B2B encounters.
The first stop was in Seattle, where on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the Consorzio Tutela Vini d'Abruzzo hosted an exclusive event at La Spiga Osteria (1429 12th Ave). The program began at 11:00 AM with a Masterclass led by wine expert Tanya Morning Star, focusing on one of the region's most intriguing white wines: Pecorino d'Abruzzo DOC. Guests explored the unique profile and character of this increasingly celebrated variety. The tasting was followed by lunch, and from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, a session of one-on-one meetings between producers and U.S. importers provided space for business dialogue and relationship-building.
On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the campaign moved to Los Angeles, where a similar program took place at Il Fornaio Beverly Hills (301 N. Beverly Dr). The day began with a Masterclass from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, highlighting the structure and elegance of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Following the tasting, a series of one-on-one meetings between producers and U.S. trade professionals took place, along with a seated lunch to continue discussions in an informal setting.
To conclude this first leg of the U.S. tour, on Monday, June 23, 2025, the Consorzio will host a final event in New York City, held at Il Gattopardo. The day will begin from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM with a Masterclass led by Alison Napjus, Senior Editor and Tasting Director at Wine Spectator, who will guide attendees through a tasting of the most iconic wines from Abruzzo, showcasing the region's exceptional diversity. The Masterclass will be followed by lunch, and from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, a Walk-Around Tasting will welcome members of the trade and media to explore additional labels and connect directly with producers.

Who is Mark Walter? What to know about the Los Angeles Lakers' new owner
The Buss family is turning the Los Angeles Lakers over to a new owner in the largest sale of a U.S. professional sports team all-time. Mark Walter, the CEO and chairman of diversified holding company TWG Global, will be purchasing majority ownership of the NBA franchise in a deal that's expected to have a valuation of approximately $10 billion, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Advertisement While the Lakers' ownership won't be in the hands of the Buss family for the first time since 1979, Jeanie Buss will remain Lakers governor, a position she's held since Jerry Buss died in 2013. Additionally, the Buss family will maintain just over a 15% share of the team for "a period of time," according to Charania. But Yahoo Sports has the background you need to know about the Lakers' new owner, Mark Walter. Mark Walter is the Los Angeles Dodgers' primary owner Walter, 65, has served as the controlling owner of the Dodgers since 2012. Back in May of that year, Guggenheim Baseball Management bought the MLB franchise from Frank McCourt for $2.15 billion, at the time an MLB record. Advertisement Walter, also CEO of investment and advisory firm Guggenheim Partners, spearheaded the move, but he was accompanied by longtime sports executive Stan Kasten and Lakers legend Magic Johnson, who are both part-owners. The investor group notably included Todd Boehly, who is the CEO of holding company Eldridge Industries and also a frequent business partner of Walter's. Kasten is the team's president, however, Walter is the at the forefront of the ownership consortium. With Walter as the Dodgers' primary owner, the team has won a pair of World Series titles, one in 2020 and another last season in 2024. The Dodgers haven't missed the postseason since their three-year drought from 2009-12. Mark Walter has been a stakeholder in the Lakers since 2021 Walter became a stakeholder in the Lakers in 2021. It was then that he he received a right of first refusal on the majority share of the team, according to Charania's Wednesday report. Boehly joined the Los Angeles Lakers Board of Directors and represented his interests as well as Walter's. Johnson, who won five NBA championships with the Lakers in the '80s, shared his excitement about his business partner's newest purchase Wednesday. "Laker fans should be estatic," Johnson wrote on social media. "A few things I can tell you about Mark — he is driven by winning, excellence, and doing everything the right way. Lakers legend Magic Johnson on sale of the team: 'When the Celtics sold for $6B, I knew the Lakers were worth $10B!'
Hall of Famer Earvin "Magic" Johnson couldn't contain his excitement on Wednesday when news broke that the Los Angeles Lakers were being sold for $10 billion in one of the largest sports purchases in history. The Buss family is selling majority ownership of the franchise to the CEO and chairman of TWG Global, Mark Walter, who's also the primary owner and chairman of the Los Angeles Dodgers. ESPN's Shams Charania initially reported the agreement with Walter, who currently owns a minority stake in the Lakers. Johnson tweeted alongside the news: "Just like I thought, when the Celtics sold for $6B, I knew the Lakers were worth $10B!" Johnson, who's part of the Dodgers ownership group alongside Walter, continued to rave about the purchase on X, writing that "Laker fans should be [ecstatic]. While Walter will own the majority of the franchise, the Buss family will retain a minority stake, while Jeanie will remain as the governor of the Lakers. In addition to the Dodgers, Walter's business portfolio includes stakes in the Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA), Andretti Global (racing) and soccer clubs Chelsea FC and RC Strasbourg.
