On this day: Celtic center Stacey King born; Powe leads blowout of Heat
On this day in Boston Celtics history, former Boston big man Stacey King was born in Lawton, Oklahoma back in 1967. King would play his college ball at the University of Oklahoma before being picked up with the sixth overall pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 1989 NBA draft. As far as being a part of Celtic history goes, you can't get much more tenuous than King.
The man has almost as many rings (3-- from his time with the Chicago Bulls, where he won 3 years in a row with Michael Jordan between 1991 and 1993) as he does games with Boston. King played a total of 5 tilts with the Celtics after he signed a 10-day contract but did not renew with a second, dissatisfied with how he was being used and how the organization was run under ML Carr.
King was nearly at the end of his career, playing a short stint with the Dallas Mavericks before heading to the Continental Basketball Association (CBA -- an analog of the G League at that time) and overseas. He would average 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per game as a Celtic.
It is also the date of a 117-87 blowout of the Miami Heat that came despite Paul Pierce going 2-of-9 overall from the field and Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen not playing.
Leon Powe lead the team off the bench with 25 points and 11 rebounds, Rajon Rondo added 23 points and 6 boards, and Tony Allen chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds in their absence.

Bulls rumors: Rival execs speculate on Coby White trade if Josh Giddey re-signs

The post Bulls rumors: Rival execs speculate on Coby White trade if Josh Giddey re-signs appeared first on ClutchPoints. Another crucial offseason is here for the Chicago Bulls, and there are a lot of question marks surrounding the team. It's unclear what this roster is going to look like at the beginning of next season, and looming decisions surrounding Josh Giddey and Coby White are a big reason why. Giddey and White were two of the most important players on this team last season, but it is sounding unlikely that both will be back in the Windy City next year. Advertisement Josh Giddey's late-season surge has really made things interesting for the Bulls this offseason. Giddey was always one of the better players on the team, but he was a different beast after the All-Star Break. He wasn't just one of the best players on the team, but he was one of the best players in the league. Giddey even won Eastern Conference Player of the Month in March. After Giddey's impressive close to the season, he is looking for a big contract this offseason, and a lot of people expect the Bulls to pay him. The thing is, that could result in the team losing Coby White. Some rumors are saying that the team isn't going to get both players back. 'This is outside speculative, but two different East personnel figures believe that the Bulls are unlikely to retain both Josh Giddey and Coby White,' Matt Moore said in a report. 'If Giddey gets locked in, White could be moved. I'm skeptical of that idea because that sounds like a radical concept for the Bulls and that doesn't sound like them. Saving money sounds like them, but not like this.' We'll see how much truth there is to that rumor as that is just the thought of a couple different people around the league, so it obviously doesn't guarantee anything. Still, there has been a lot of talk about the Bulls potentially trading White this offseason. If Giddey gets a big pay raise for the team, it might end up being the best option. Advertisement Coby White has been one of the best players for the Bulls during the past couple of seasons, and he certainly elevated his worth in the process. If the Bulls do lock down Josh Giddey and decide to trade White, he would be an attractive option for a lot of teams across the league. The Coby White/Josh Giddey decisions will be a huge part of this offseason for the Bulls, but they have a lot of other big things on their plate as well. It will be interesting to see what this roster is looking like when next season rolls around.

There is a chance we could see a ton of movement, and that would not come as a surprise. For the seventh season in a row, the NBA will crown a new champion. With that being said, many NBA teams that are fringe contenders or contenders feel like they are just one move or a handful of moves away from being the last team standing. It's a new age in the NBA, and everyone is trying to get ahead. One team that will look to dominate this summer is the Miami Heat. The Heat are a well-established and well-represented team, and there is a chance they could throw their hat into the ring for what should be the best player on the trading block, Kevin Durant. Durant's days in Phoenix are numbered, and he will undoubtedly be moved prior to the 2025-26 season. The Heat could be one team that could make a move for the 15-time All-Star. NBA insider Zach Lowe shares in his latest piece of "The Zach Lowe Show." They can talk themselves into a nucleus of Herro, Bam, KD, plus whatever decent young players are left over here can get us somewhere. "They're having to give up one of Jovic or Jaquez in any kind of trade like that" NBA contributor Evan Sidery, for Forbes, shared a potential package for Durant from the Heat. The Heat will get involved in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, per @ZachLowe_NBA ( Miami can build an appealing trade package for the Suns with Andrew Wiggins, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Duncan Robinson, and future first-round picks. — Evan Sidery (@esidery) June 10, 2025 The Heat is one of many teams that will be in pursuit of Durant. The 36-year-old is one of the best players ever to grace the basketball court, and the Heat is one of the few teams that could offer an enticing offer for the two-time champion. Durant has sent the last two-plus seasons in Phoenix, and for the most part, it's been underwhelming. A change is likely on the horizon, but where to is the million-dollar question. Durant is still at the top of his game, but with Phoenix wanting to go in a different direction, his days in the Valley of the Sun are numbered. The Heat are coming off an overwhelming season of their own. They lost their superstar, Jimmy Butler, this past season, but there is a chance they can gain another this summer. Former LeBron James Teammate Reveals What Lakers Star Did Twice that Michael Jordan Couldn't Do Once

Former LeBron James Teammate Reveals What Lakers Star Did Twice that Michael Jordan Couldn't Do Once originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Michael Jordan and LeBron James are two of the greatest players in NBA history. The basketball icons have combined to win nine MVPs, 10 championships and 10 NBA Finals MVPs. Advertisement Jordan won five MVPs, six titles and six NBA Finals MVPs with the Chicago Bulls in the '90s, while James is a four-time MVP, a four-time champion and a four-time NBA Finals MVP. He has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers (twice), Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) debate between Jordan and James is one of the most discussed topics in basketball discourse. One of James' former teammates recently said he's going with The King over Jordan every time because he thinks James did something twice that Jordan couldn't do once. One of LeBron James' former teammates is going with The King (left) over Michael Jordan. © David Richard-Imagn Images Shane Battier, who won two championships with James in Miami, doesn't think Jordan could have won two rings with him as his starting power forward. Advertisement "LeBron did something twice that Jordan I don't think could have done once," Battier said on the YouTube show "Pablo Torre Finds Out." "He won two NBA titles with Shane Battier as his starting power forward. No way, no way Jordan could have done that. "As great as Jordan was, LeBron dragged me across the finish line." James and Battier helped the Heat win titles in 2012 and 2013. James won back-to-back MVPs and NBA Finals MVPs with Miami. While Battier is clearly being self-deprecating in his take, he is only half right about being the Heat's starting forward. He started every game of the 2012 NBA Finals but did not crack the starting lineup in any of the Heat's 2013 playoff games. Advertisement Jordan, who went 6-0 in the NBA Finals, is first in NBA history in points per game in the regular season and postseason. He has also scored the most points (63) in a playoff game. James, who is 4-6 in the NBA Finals, is first in NBA history in points. He's the only player ever to rank top five all-time in points and assists. The GOAT debate between Jordan and James likely will never end, but Battier is going with James because the future Hall of Famer helped him win two rings.
