Shashi Tharoor says he landed in London on Air India plane: ‘My heart goes out'
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor condoled the Air India flight crash near Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport on Friday.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 people, including 12 crew members, crashed shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon.
In a post on X, Tharoor wrote, 'Just landed in London on @airindia from Delhi to the awful news of the crash. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. 🕉️ शांति.'

Air India said that among the 230 passengers, 169 were Indians, 53 British, seven Portuguese and one Canadian national.
As per ATC, the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It made a Mayday call to ATC, but thereafter, the aircraft did not respond to the calls made by ATC. Immediately after departure, fell on the ground outside the airport perimeter. The official said that heavy black smoke was seen coming from the accident site.

Focus on Caste Census demand: Congress to launch month-long OBC outreach campaign in UP today
In a bid to woo the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Uttar Pradesh, particularly the Most Backward Classes (MBCs) such as the Nishad community, and to press for a caste-based census, the Congress will on Saturday launch a month-long outreach campaign across the state. Titled Bhagidari Nyay Sammelan: Jatigat Jangarna, Haq Hai Hamara, the campaign will kick off on Saturday, with All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Avinash Pande inaugurating the programme in Lucknow. PM visits AI 171 plane crash site, meets injured victims
Gandhinagar: A day after one of the worst air-tragedies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited the Air India 171 plane crash site in Ahmedabad. He met the injured at the civil hospital, including the lone survivor of the tragedy, and chaired a meeting of top Union and state govt officials. Modi also met bereaved family members of former chief minister Vijay Rupani during his visit to the city. The PM spent about 20 minutes at the site inspecting where the Air India Dreamliner 787 crashed moments after take-off on Thursday afternoon. Union civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and state minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi apprised the PM of how the plane crashed into the hostel building and mess of the B J Medical College. The PM was also accompanied by CM Bhupendra Patel, chief secretary Pankaj Joshi, DGP Vikas Sahay and others. Modi met injured victims, including Viswashkumar Ramesh, the lone survivor of the plane crash. The PM was seen interacting with Viswash for a while before visiting the C7 ward of civil hospital where 25 injured persons are being treated. About 50 injured persons are being treated at the C7 and C8 wards of the hospital. The PM spoke to doctors and other medical personnel at the hospital.
