581 CAPF units, jammers, drones, K9 units: Post-Pahalgam attack, a full-spectrum shield for Amarnath Yatra
NEW DELHI: The government has planned to deploy 581 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), jammers, drones and K9 units for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, making it one of the most heavily secured pilgrimages. The annual yatra to the Amarnath shrine in Jammu and Kashmir will be conducted over a reduced 38-day schedule this year, from July 3 to August 9. The annual pilgrimage comes as India remains on high alert after Pahalgam terror attack and a decisive ' Operation Sindoor ' by armed forces againt Pakistan-backed terrorism. As part of a massive security overhaul, signal jammers will be deployed for the first time to protect the movement of yatra convoys, a measure aimed at neutralising threats posed by remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs). During the passage of the convoy, all roads leading to the yatra routes and National Highways will be temporarily blocked to ensure maximum security, news agency ANI reported. Security forces will be stationed across both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, with layered arrangements involving: Road Opening Parties (ROPs) to secure and sanitise key stretches ahead of movement. Quick Action Teams (QATs) positioned for rapid response. Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) for neutralising explosives. K9 units - highly trained sniffer dogs for explosive detection. Drones to provide real-time aerial surveillance. Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Nalin Prabhat on Monday had directed security forces to bolster measures to mitigate potential risks by deploying anti-sabotage teams along the pilgrimage routes. The director general of police (DGP) also asked them to utilise advanced technologies to enhance surveillance and threat detection capabilities.

No takers for 50% of Class 11 seats in Nagpur division
1 2 Nagpur: The reality of excess availability of Class 11 seats in Nagpur division has again become visible, with just 50% of seats finding takers even though online registrations close on Thursday (June 5) afternoon. This is the first time that Class 11 admissions for the entire state are being done online. There are 2.13 lakh seats available in the six districts of Nagpur division, but just over one lakh students registered as of Wednesday morning. Till the time of going to press, the updated figures had not come. R egardless, it's guaranteed that a bulk of the seats will remain vacant, simply because there aren't enough students. In Nagpur division, only 1.3 lakh students cleared SSC (Class 10). Apart from this, CBSE and ICSE students might account for hardly 10,000. Even if all these students took admissions, even then the 1.5 lakh mark won't be breached. Students from neighbouring states do shift to Nagpur in Class 11 for JEE/NEET coaching, but their numbers are not so high that the entire 2.13 lakh seats can get filled. Ashok Gavhankar, a senior educationist, said, "This data needs to be probed further, not because there is an error but because it will tell us the reason. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 빠진 치아가 많다면, "전체 임플란트" 치료가 필요할지 확인해보세요! 튼튼한 임플란트_강남애프터치과의원 지금 문의 Undo I feel it's the non-English medium seats which are going vacant as parents prefer to put their kids in English medium right from Class 1. This obviously continues further. So, these seats in Class 11, which were sanctioned decades ago in non-English medium junior colleges, still continue but do not find any takers. " Milind Wankhede, another senior educationist, said, "The govt needs to step in here because it's a fact that private colleges expanded aggressively. Since grant-in-aid seats were not being increased, the govt kept an open door policy for private non-grant seats as it did not drain their coffers. Colleges expanded aggressively, probably keeping future requirements in mind, but it did not work out." Well-known educationist Vandana Benjamin said that suggestions like cancelling seat permissions to pare down the numbers is not feasible. "All schools and colleges take permission to increase the seats, there are formalities and policies for that. This means the govt must not arbitarily shut down some sections in colleges as they invest money into it. It will take time but every institution must be given a chance to achieve their goal," Benjamin said.
