
Nor Shahrizan Sulaiman named officer-in-charge at Maybank Islamic
KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has appointed Nor Shahrizan Sulaiman as officer-in-charge of Maybank Islamic Bhd (MIB) following the resignation of Datuk Muzaffar Hisham, who stepped down to pursue other professional interests.
In a statement, Maybank said the search for a new group CEO of Islamic Banking would begin immediately, with an announcement to be made in due course.
Nor Shahrizan will take on the day-to-day management of MIB in addition to his current duties until a new group CEO is appointed.

UOB backs RM15b green loan for JS-SEZ data centre project
KUALA LUMPUR: United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd announced its role as joint coordinator, mandated lead arranger, underwriter and book runner in one of Southeast Asia's largest data centre financing transactions. The landmark transaction, which involved a dual currency loan of RM15 billion, is also the largest syndicated green Islamic facility in Malaysia. 'By jointly financing DayOne's data centre in the JS-SEZ, we are not only supporting Malaysia's digital economy but also strengthening the connectivity backbone that enables businesses from both sides of the Causeway to thrive in the Digital Age. 'We remain committed to the continuous support and development of the JS-SEZ as a strategic economic corridor that enhances regional connectivity and drives sustainable growth,' she added. The bank's involvement in the landmark financing aligns with the bank's broader strategy to support sustainable infrastructure development across Asia.

Maybank Underwrites RM2.5 Bln For Dayone's Green Data Centres In JS-SEZ
KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 (Bernama) -- Maybank is underwriting RM2.5 billion, which is one-third and the largest share of the biggest syndicated Islamic financing for data centres in Asia Pacific, to support DayOne Data Centers (DayOne) green data centres in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). This onshore ringgit Islamic tranche amounting to RM7.5 billion, and an equivalent US Dollar-denominated offshore conventional tranche, form a five-year, dual-currency green financing package totalling RM15 billion. The borrower, WG Data Hub Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of DayOne, shall use the proceeds to develop data centres of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold-certified and above. LEED is an internationally recognised and globally utilised green building certification system.
