Ramadan 2025: Dubai's first Ramadan souq is here

What's On29-01-2025

Let the festivities begin…
The third edition of the Ramadan Souq is back, just in time for the Holy Month to start this year. Organised by the Dubai Municipality and located in the Old Municipality Street Square in the Grand Souq, Deira, the Ramadan Souq will run till February 22.
This is an exciting celebration of a wonderful time in the year, and is the perfect family friendly activity you can bring your whole family to honour the customs in preparation of Ramadan. Find here a variety of activities, and recreational, commercial, and cultural activations.
The aim of the market is to promote the rich history, culture and heritage of the traditional Dubai markets or souqs, as we know them, with the prime location of Old Dubai, where it all began. Everyone is welcome – tourists, residents, adults and children alike, with experiences tailored for all.
It's also a great platform to discover local businesses and investors to showcase their products – they get to showcase their products and visitors can buy them at affordable prices. This is an opportunity to explore the historic Deira Souq, one of OG marketplaces of Dubai since when we were in the sand.
In the Ramadan Souq, the market features a variety of stalls operated by long-standing shopkeepers stocking traditional Ramadan supplies that you can explore and pick up. But shopping isn't the only activity at the market. Visitors can enjoy live entertainment, interactive workshops, and plenty to keep their little ones busy. Getting there…
Consider taking the Abra, a low-cost public transport option perfect to use in this weather. The boats are wholly traditional and offer a beautiful ride to the souq. You can hop on an Abra from either Al Fahidi or Al Shindagha stations to reach the Deira Old Souq.
From Al Fahidi Station to Deira Old Souq Station (and vice versa): 10am – 11am, 4.30pm – 5.30pm, 7pm – 8pm. From Al Shindagha Station to Deira Old Souq Station (and vice versa): 10am – 11am, 4.30pm – 5.30pm, 7pm – 8pm.
The Souq is open daily from 10am to 10pm until February 22, 2025. It ends just in time for Ramadan to start, so don't miss out on this exciting cultural trip.

Dubai Municipality Designates Four Beaches for Families During Eid Al-Adha

Dubai Municipality has announced the exclusive allocation of four public beaches for families during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, aiming to enhance safety, comfort, and the overall beach experience. The designated beaches are Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, Umm Suqeim 1, and Umm Suqeim 2. The move comes in response to the surge in visitors typically seen during the holiday period. By reserving these beaches for families, the Municipality seeks to create a more secure and enjoyable environment tailored to their needs. To ensure public safety, the Municipality has deployed 126 trained safety and rescue personnel equipped with advanced tools and support systems. A further team of 100 inspectors will oversee beach operations, managing crowds, traffic, and incident response throughout the holiday. This initiative aligns with Dubai's broader strategy to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors by improving public spaces. The Municipality highlighted its ongoing commitment to offering integrated, family-oriented facilities and ensuring beaches remain inclusive and accessible for all. In coordination with strategic partners, Dubai Municipality will maintain active monitoring of beach activities during the holiday to uphold safety standards and provide a welcoming recreational atmosphere. Watch: Sheikh Hamdan rides abra on Eid Al Adha weekend

It's not every day that you see a member of the Dubai royal family aboard a public transport. As the city continues to celebrate the Eid Al Adha long weekend, Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum surprised followers by taking a ride on an abra and sharing a glimpse of it with his followers on social media. Sheikh Hamdan, popularly known as Fazza, posted a video of his abra ride on his Instagram story, much to the delight of his 17 million followers. He seemed to be traveling across the Dubai creek to the Al Seef market in the abra, one of the oldest forms of transport in the city. He also shared visuals of spices and traditional food items being sold at the market in old Dubai. The Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE often regales his followers on social media with snapshots from his life. He has been sharing snippets from his Eid Al Adha celebrations with his family, especially his kids. Watch the video here: In one heartwarming post, Sheikh Hamdan is seen with his youngest child, daughter Hind, who was born on March 22 this year. The Crown Prince is actively involved in Dubai's public transport initiatives, including expanding the Dubai Tram, promoting sustainable transport, and developing new infrastructure like flying taxis. The fourth generation of traditional abras were unveiled in February this year by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in a move that aims to upgrade the city's marine transport network.

Dubai deploys 2,800 workers to keep city clean, safe during Eid

Dubai Municipality has completed full operations for the Eid Al Adha holiday, ensuring that public places across the city remained safe, clean, and ready for visitors and residents. This included all tourist sites, parks, and entertainment areas. A total of 2,800 staff members were mobilized, including engineers, supervisors, inspectors, and other specialized workers. Their main task was to maintain high levels of health, safety, and cleanliness during the busy holiday. Out of the total workforce, 2,300 were cleaning engineers assigned to cover key areas around Dubai. The teams were supported by 752 vehicles and machines used for cleaning operations. Another 250 supervisors and inspectors were on the ground to oversee the cleaning activities and respond to urgent needs. This ensured that areas with large crowds were continuously monitored and maintained. In addition, 250 workers focused on public health, general safety, and food safety, especially in areas where people gathered for meals and celebrations. These teams made sure that hygiene standards were followed across food establishments and open spaces. The efforts are part of Dubai Municipality's commitment to provide high-quality, integrated services for the public, especially during major holidays when many Filipinos and other expats take time off to relax or spend time with their families.
