Iran can make nukes in 2 weeks? Netanyahu goes in panic mode after IAEA's report

Hindustan Times2 days ago

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued an urgent call for global action after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) warned that Iran's uranium stockpile has surged by nearly 50% in three months, bringing Tehran alarmingly close to nuclear weapons capability. The IAEA's latest report revealed Iran now possesses over 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% purity—the only non-nuclear-weapon state to reach such levels—enough for several nuclear bombs if further enriched. Boulder ‘terror attack': Why did Mohamed Soliman target protesters? Who are the victims?

A group of Jewish protesters calling for the release of Israeli hostages were attacked with Molotov cocktails on Sunday in Boulder, Colorado, with eight victims injured and hospitalised. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has termed the incident as a "targeted terror attack" and arrested a suspect in the case. Also Read: 'Terrorism against Jews': Israel's UN ambassador slams Boulder attack The suspect, Mohamed Soliman, targeted protesters who belonged to the volunteer group 'Run for Their Lives', which organises run and walk events to call for the immediate release of the Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza. The group had gathered at the Pearl Street pedestrian mall, a four-block area in Boulder frequented by tourists and students. The eight people hospitalised for injuries ranged in age from 52 to 88, reported the Associated Press. Photos from the scene showed a woman lying on the ground, soaked in water, after several victims displayed burn injuries due to the attack. The injuries, consistent with burn wounds, ranged from minor to serious as per Boulder police chief Steve Redfearn. Also Read: 'They are jealous': Boulder attack suspect before throwing Molotov cocktails at pro-Israel group Lynn Segal, 72, one of 20 people gathered at the site of the protest, stated that they witnessed a 'rope of fire' and two big flares during the attack, after which the chaos erupted. Also Read: Boulder attack: Witness says Molotov cocktail thrown at pro-Israel protestors, raising terrorism concerns Segal, who is Jewish, has supported Palestine for more than 40 years, and was concerned that she might be accused of helping the suspect because she was wearing a pro-Palestine shirt. 'There were people who were burning, I wanted to help. But I didn't want to be associated with the perpetrator,' she told AP. Mark D. Michalek, the FBI special agent in charge, stated during a press conference, earlier today, that witnesses saw the suspect use a 'makeshift flamethrower' and yelled 'Free Palestine' during the attack. The people hospitalized for injuries in the Pearl Street attack range in age from 67 to 88. Photos from the scene showed a woman lying on the ground in the fetal position with her hair soaked, and a man helping her and getting water from someone with a water jug. The injuries authorities found were consistent with reports of people being set on fire, Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn said, adding that injuries ranged from serious to minor. Redfearn told reporters that it was too early to discuss a motive but that witnesses were being interviewed. Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, was arrested at the scene. No charges were immediately announced, but officials said they expect to hold him 'fully accountable.' Video from the scene showed him shirtless and wearing jeans and holding two clear bottles with a transparent liquid in them while shouting at onlookers. Another video shows a witness shouting, 'He's right there. He's throwing Molotov cocktails,' as a police officer with his gun drawn advanced on the suspect. FBI leaders in Washington said they were treating the Boulder attack as an act of terrorism, and the Justice Department — which leads investigations into acts of violence driven by religious, racial or ethnic motivations — decried the attack as a 'needless act of violence, which follows recent attacks against Jewish Americans.' 'This act of terror is being investigated as an act of ideologically motivated violence based on the early information, the evidence, and witness accounts. We will speak clearly on these incidents when the facts warrant it,' FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in a post on X.

Who is Mohamed Sabry Soliman, the Colorado pro-Israel rally attacker?

Six people were injured during a pro-Israel gathering in Colorado's Boulder on Sunday after a man, identified as 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman, threw firebombs at them using a makeshift flamethrower. The FBI is investigating the incident as a "targeted act of terrorism". The gathering was part of a weekly 'Run For Their Lives' event to raise awareness about Israeli hostages held in Gaza. Witnesses said Soliman shouted 'free Palestine", 'end Zionists", and 'they are killers' while attacking the crowd. FBI Denver Field Office Special Agent Mark Michalek confirmed Soliman's arrest and stated, 'It is clear that this is a targeted act of violence and the FBI is investigating this as an act of terrorism.' The six victims, aged between 67 and 88, suffered varying degrees of burns. Soliman was also injured and taken to a hospital under police custody. Authorities have not yet announced formal charges but said they intend to hold him 'fully accountable". Boulder police have not released additional details about Soliman or confirmed a specific motive. Immigration status Soliman is reportedly an Egyptian national who entered the United States on August 27, 2022, through Los Angeles International Airport on a non-immigrant visa. He has since overstayed his visa, according to federal officials. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller posted on X, saying the man was a foreign national who 'illegally overstayed (his) visa". What witnesses saw Brooke Coffman, an eyewitness, told Reuters, 'Everybody is yelling, 'get water, get water.' I saw four women with burns—one wrapped in a flag.' A video from the scene shows a shirtless man, believed to be Soliman, holding spray bottles with visible flames on the ground. Six people are in the hospital after Mohamed Sabry Soliman allegedly lit them on fire.… — Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) June 2, 2025 Officials respond Colorado Governor Jared Polis condemned the violence, saying that 'hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable". Attorney General Phil Weiser said the incident appears to be a hate crime. The FBI and local police evacuated parts of downtown Boulder around 13th and Pearl Streets after the attack. K-9 units were deployed, and the public was advised to avoid the area. This incident follows a recent fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy workers in Washington, DC, amid ongoing tensions surrounding the Israel-Gaza conflict.
