Stocks that outperformed markets today
Timex Group India, VRL Logistics, Suven Life Sciences, Steel Strips Wheels, Hitachi Energy India, Kitex Garments, Interarch Building Solutions, India Glycols, Astra Microwave Products and Aarti Pharmalabs from the BSE Smallcap index have hit their respective 52-week highs in intra-day trade.
Ramco Systems and Cosmo First were locked in a 20 per cent upper circuit, while Dishman Carbogen Amcis, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (TTML), Alicon Castalloy, Carysil, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Nelcast, Repro India, Fortis Healthcare, Shipping Corporation of India and VA Tech Wabag have rallied between 10 per cent and 16 per cent.
Among the individual stocks, Ramco Systems zooms 20 per cent to ₹441.15, after the company reported profit after tax (PAT) of ₹157 crore for the quarter ended March 2025 (Q4FY25). A global enterprise software company offering next-generation SaaS-enabled platform and products had posted PAT of ₹5.3 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Despite subdued order bookings of $56 million, the company achieved 10 per cent growth in revenue, underscoring continued trust from existing customers. The strategic transition to a SaaS model was further strengthened with recurring revenue consistently contributing around 60 per cent of total revenue, Ramco Systems said.
Shares of Cosmo First soared 20 per cent to ₹794.60 amid heavy volumes. In Q4FY25, the company reported an 80 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) jump in PAT at ₹27 crore. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) up 26.9 per cent to ₹85 crore, backed by higher speciality sales and better BOPP & BOPET film margins.
The company said Ebitda would have been better but for a one-time non-recurring cost of ₹4.3 crore for thermal line shifting from Korea to India (bringing in 10 crore annual efficiencies) and a 10 per cent lower volume of BOPET film due to a planned shutdown.
The company further said it has invested ₹1,180 crore in the last 3 years (including ₹502 crore in the last year) in multiple growth projects including BOPP, CPP & Polyester lines, Metallizers, Coating lines, Window / PPF films, Zigly and Rigid Packaging) and these will yield a significant ramp up in revenue as well as profitability in the next 2 to 3 years.
Shares of TTML surged 14 per cent to ₹79 on the BSE in intra-day trade. In the past two trading days, the stock price of the Tata group telecom services provider has zoomed 36 per cent on media report that Tata Sons Ltd, the holding company of the $150 billion Tata Group, may be forced to infuse fresh capital into its loss-making telecom arm, Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL). This is because TTSL has to pay ₹19,256 crore adjusted gross revenue (AGR) along with other dues to the central government by March 2026.
Shares of GRSE rallied 12 per cent to ₹2,795 in intra-day trade after the company bagged a ₹25,000 crore order from the Indian Navy. The shipbuilding company, in an exchange filing, said it emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the construction of next-generation corvettes (NGC) for the Indian Army. The L1 bidder will be awarded five NGC ships at a likely value of more than ₹25,000 crore.

‘Buy right, sell after…': Here's Reddit man's story of purchasing JSW shares in 1990s — Here's its worth today

A stock market investor and social media user named Sourav Dutta, in his platform X post on Saturday, 7 June 2025, shared a story of a Reddit man, who inherited JSW Steel shares, which are currently worth nearly ₹ 80 crore. In the post, Sourav Dutta cited a Reddit man who allegedly inherited JSW Steel shares from his father. The father reportedly purchased the stocks in 1990 for ₹ 1 lakh. Dutta said that now, as of the current market value, those shares are worth nearly ₹ 80 crore. 'Guy on Reddit discovered JSW shares bought by his dad in the 1990s for ₹ 1L (lakh),' said Dutta in his post. 'Worth ₹ 80 Cr (crore) today,' he said. The market investors highlighted the importance of purchasing a share at the correct time, holding it for the long term, and eventually selling it for a massive profit. 'Power of buy right, sell after 30 yrs,' said Dutta in his post on X. People on the social media platform X also agreed with Sourav Dutta's stance on buying and holding shares for a longer period for higher gains, compared to a shorter profit-booking strategy. 'Don't be in a rush to sell good businesses. If fundamentals are intact, let time do the heavy lifting. This is not just investing, this is legacy creation,' said a platform X account named @marketanalogy. 'Power of buy and forget?!' questioned a platform X user named @dhanapal13, to which Dutta clarified that people should 'Buy and Track' instead. Another user named Anhad Arora said, 'People don't realise how stock splits, bonuses and dividends add up overtime, it's magical.' JSW Steel shares closed 3.70 per cent higher at ₹ 1,004.50 after Friday's stock market session, compared to ₹ 968.65 at the previous market close. Since their listing in the Indian stock market in 1996, the Iron and Steel manufacturers' shares have given stock market investors a total of 4,865 per cent returns on their investment. The shares were trading under ₹ 20 apiece after their listing on the BSE in 1996. JSW Steel shares have given investors more than 430 per cent returns in the last five years and 9.70 per cent in the last one-year period. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the shares have gained over 10 per cent in 2025, and are trading 2.56 per cent higher in the last five stock market sessions. The stock hit its 52-week high level at ₹ 1,074.15 on 25 March 2025, while the 52-week low level was at ₹ 854.35 on 5 August 2024, according to BSE data. Infosys gets huge relief on GST as DGGI closes Rs 32,400 cr pre-show cause notice

Mid-last year, the goods and services tax (GST) authorities had slapped Rs 32,403 crore notice on Infosys for services availed by the company from its overseas branches for five years starting 2017. New Delhi, Jun 7 (PTI) In a major relief for Infosys, the Director General of GST Intelligence has closed pre-show cause notice proceedings against the company for financial years 2018-19 to 2021-22 involving a staggering Rs 32,403 crore in GST dues. The GST demand, in fact, exceeds Infosys's annual profits (net profit for full FY25 stood at Rs 26,713 crore), and its closure now is bound to come as a significant relief for the tech major. The Bengaluru-headquartered company, in a BSE filing, said with the receipt of the latest communication from DGGI 'this matter stands closed'. 'In continuation to our earlier communications on July 31, 2024, August 1, 2024 and August 3,2024 on GST, this is to inform that the company has today received a communication from the Director General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) closing the pre-show cause notice proceedings for the financial years 2018-19 to 2021-22,' the company said in the filing late Friday evening. Infosys — which competes with the likes of TCS, Wipro and others for global IT contracts — said it had received and responded to a pre-show cause notice issued by DGGI for the period July 2017 to March 2022 on the issue of non-payment of IGST under Reverse Charge Mechanism. 'The GST amount as per the pre-show cause notice for this period was Rs 32,403 crore. The company had on August 3, 2024 received a communication from DGGI closing the pre-show cause notice proceedings for the financial year 2017-2018. With the receipt of today's communication from DGGI, this matter stands closed,' Infosys said. In July last year, Infosys had informed that Karnataka State GST authorities issued a pre-show cause notice for payment of GST of Rs 32,403 crores for the period July 2017 to March 2022 towards the expenses incurred by overseas branch offices of Infosys Ltd, and added that the company has responded to the pre-show cause notice. 'The company has also received a pre-show cause notice from Director General of GST Intelligence on the same matter and the company is in the process of responding to the same,' the filing of July 2024 had said. All along, Infosys maintained that GST is not applicable on these expenses. 'Additionally, as per a recent circular issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs on the recommendations of the GST Council, services provided by the overseas branches to Indian entity are not subject to GST,' Infosys had argued back in July 2024. The tech firm had asserted GST payments are eligible for credit or refund against export of IT services. 'Infosys has paid all its GST dues and is fully in compliance with the central and state regulations on this matter,' the company had contended. The document sent to Infosys by GST authorities at that point had reportedly said, 'In lieu of receipt of supplies from overseas branch offices, the company has paid consideration to the branch offices in the form of overseas branch expense. Hence, M/s Infosys Ltd, Bengaluru is liable to pay IGST under reverse charge mechanism on supplies received from branches located outside India to the tune of Rs 32,403.46 crores for the period 2017-18 (July 2017 onwards) to 2021-22.' The Directorate General of GST Intelligence in Bengaluru had been of the opinion that Infosys did not pay the Integrated-GST (IGST) on the import of services as a recipient of services. For the just-ended March quarter, Infosys reported an 11.7 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 7,033 crore mainly on account of compensation to employees, and acquisitions during the reported period. The company has guided for a revenue growth of 0-3 per cent in constant currency terms in the current fiscal year, citing uncertainty in the environment. For the full FY25, profits saw a marginal increase of 1.8 per cent to Rs 26,713 crore; revenues climbed 6.06 per cent to reach Rs 1,62,990 crore — exceeding its guidance of 4.5-5 per cent for the full FY25. Global trends, inflation data to drive market sentiment this week: Analysts

Equity investors would track global market trends, inflation data and trading activity of foreign investors for further cues this week, analysts said. Moreover, progress of monsoon and developments related to trade talks would also be monitored by investors, experts noted. "Going forward, market participants will focus on key macroeconomic data for further cues. High-frequency indicators such as CPI inflation will be closely tracked to gauge demand trends and the central bank's next steps. Additionally, the progress of monsoon and sowing patterns will be monitored due to their implications for rural consumption," Ajit Mishra -- SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd -- said. On the global front, developments in trade negotiations and movements in US bond yields will continue to influence investor sentiment, he added. Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty surged on Friday, driven by a rally in rate-sensitive sectors following the Reserve Bank's jumbo rate cut of 50 basis points. The 30-share BSE Sensex ended the day higher by 746.95 points, or 0.92 per cent, to settle at 82,188.99. The 50-share NSE Nifty reclaimed the 25,000-level and climbed 252.15 points, or 1.02 per cent, to settle at 25,003.05. "We expect Indian markets to witness a gradual up-move, supported by positive sentiment following higher-than-anticipated rate cut by the RBI and optimism surrounding a potential US-India trade agreement with officials from both sides meeting in New Delhi to finalise the first phase of the proposed deal," Siddhartha Khemka, Head, Research, Wealth Management, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, said. "Meanwhile, global headwinds, including unexpected shifts in US tariffs and ongoing geopolitical tensions, may induce volatility," he said. Last week, the BSE benchmark surged 737.98 points, or 0.90 per cent, and the Nifty jumped 252.35 points, or 1 per cent. Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Ltd, said, the aggressive RBI rate cut, backed by cooling inflation and a steady GDP outlook, is likely to support investor confidence amidst the ongoing global uncertainties.
