Casualty and Coronation Street star Charles Dale's bike ride

Charles Dale, 62, known for his roles in Coronation Street and Casualty, was left heartbroken when his friend, Shaun Griffiths, 63, died after a fall down the stairs.
Mr Griffiths' 'silly' household accident in October last year caused a brain injury that led to his death.
Mr Dale, who has also appeared in Emmerdale, Holby City, and The Bill, will now ride across Britain, visiting 100 motorcycle cafes in a sponsored ride.
The month-long adventure, dubbed Shaun's TT One Hundred, will raise money for Brain Tumour Research and Headway.
Mr Dale said: "Just over six months ago one of my oldest and best friends suffered a catastrophic brain injury because of what can only be described as a 'silly' household accident - he slipped on the stairs.
"Unfortunately for Shaun this resulted in a bleed on the brain and just over a week later his family had to make the most difficult decision ever, to withdraw life support.
"Shaun died shortly after; he was 63."
Mr Dale, deputy mayor of Tenby, has become an ambassador for Brain Tumour Research after witnessing the impact of brain tumours on friends and their families.
He said: "Seeing the devastating impact brain tumours have had on my friends' lives has been awful - so I'm deeply honoured to become an ambassador for Brain Tumour Research, the leading voice of the brain tumour community and a cause that's very close to my heart."
Dan Knowles, CEO of Brain Tumour Research, said: "We are deeply honoured to announce Charles as our new ambassador.
"He has been a huge support to the charity, playing a key role in some of our biggest campaigns."
Russell Marriott, director of income generation and development at Brain Tumour Research, said: "We are enormously grateful to Charles for his dedication in taking on this challenge to shine a light on Brain Tumour Research and Headway."
Jen Murgatroyd, director of fundraising at Headway, said: "We're proud to join Brain Tumour Research in celebrating Charles' remarkable journey."

Helen Flanagan shares scary health condition as lips turn numb and swollen

Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has revealed the her recent health scare as she revealed she has discovered an allergy to cherries, which left her throat itchy and lips numb Former soap actress Helen Flanagan has shared her recent health scare, after discovering she is allergic to something she 'never knew' about – until now. The former Coronation Street star, who is best known for her role as Rosie Webster on the soap, shared her surprise with fans in a candid video on her Instagram story – as she was confronted with strange symptoms after going about her daily business. ‌ Wearing a blue jumper and minimal makeup in the video, the mum-of-three, 34, tells her fans: "So I've literally just picked up the kids from school, did the food shop today and Delilah was like, 'Oh Mummy I want some cherries'. So..." ‌ Helen, who recently wowed in risqué lingerie snaps, is then interrupted by one of her three little ones as she turns and tells them: "Hang on a second, baby" before the tot can be heard in the background saying: "Mama!" "So I erm..." she then cuts the camera and restarts the video, explaining to fans: "So yeah Delilah did the food shop and she was like, 'Oh Mummy I want some cherries'. "They were just playing in the garden so I just cut some up and I thought, 'Oh these cherries look nice' so I just had one and, honestly, straight away I was like..." she then coughs before she says while rubbing her throat: "This is really itchy here, my throat started itching and, like, my lips have literally, like they fill like numb and really, really swollen. "But I never knew that I was allergic to cherries," she says with a cough before the camera then cuts out. According to the NHS, symptoms of an allergic reaction can include swollen eyes, lips, mouth or throat amongst a string of other symptoms. The website also advises to dial 999 if "your lips, mouth, throat or tongue suddenly become swollen". ‌ The star's health scare comes after her recent split from her boyfriend Robbie Talbot after a year of dating. The mum-of-three had hinted at wanting a child with the former footballer, but has since had a "change of heart," according to friends. The pair were living together at Helen's stunning Bolton mansion but, Helen later revealed Robbie had moved out as she felt it was the best move for her three children, who 'missed' their dad Scott Sinclair. Helen and Scott split in 2022 after 13 years together. ‌ However, it was later reported Helen and Robbie "wanted different things in life". Meanwhile, the star also recently opened up on her split from her long-term partner Scott, with whom she shares her three children with. Helen said last year on Charlotte Dawson's Naughty Corner podcast: "We don't like each other." She added: "I still love him very much, I care about him deeply, but we don't like each other. We don't like each other at all, we don't get on. I do know that Scott—he'd never admit it—cares about me too, and he does love me."

Emmerdale star confirms 'huge journey' for Charity as she reveals what's to come

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Charity Dingle has had a busy year so far in Emmerdale, but she shows no signs of slowing down, as actress Emma Atkins has teased. Already this year Charity has driven a limo full of her neighbours into a lake and been a suspect in a whodunnit, after learning that son Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) had been spiked by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous). It was the spiking that led Noah to be wandering in the middle of the road, causing Charity to swerve and the limo she was driving to go plummeting into the icy lake. 'I was so proud to be part of it,' Emma enthused when I chatted to her at the British Soap Awards. 'I read the script and I was like, 'This is phenomenal.' 'When I watched it play out as well, because I wasn't in a lot of the scenes, so I was able to be a bystander and an audience member and fully soak it up. 'I was really moved, genuinely moved to tears with a lot of the performances, so I feel really proud to be part of that.' The drama is set to continue to ramp up for Charity as the year continues, with Emma promising 'a huge journey' ahead. 'It's going to be huge towards the middle and end of the year, with her connections with Sarah [Sugden], basically,' Emma teased. 'I think she's being the maternal figure in her life that she's lacking at the moment because Debbie's gone away. She's playing that motherly role where she's concerned about Sarah's health. 'Sarah, at the moment, isn't letting her in, but there's that crossroads where she's like, 'Do I tell Charity the truth?' 'Then we go on a huge journey later on, which I can't reveal yet. I'm working a lot with Katie [Hill] and she's a phenomenal little actress, she's just brilliant. I love her.' In the past few weeks, Sarah has sought guidance from Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) – Charity's ex-girlfriend. More Trending Of course, fans everywhere are constantly wondering if Charity and Vanessa will ever reunite, and Emma thinks that this could 'possibly' draw them closer together. 'I think with Vanessa being so set on her principles and morally upstanding, I think she'll be telling Sarah that the right thing to do is trust in Charity and let her know what's going on.
