Phone signal of missing man disappears in Melbourne park amid desperate search for Joshua Bishop
Family and police are becoming increasingly concerned about the disappearance of a young Melbourne man. The 23-year-old from Sunbury, Joshua Bishop, has not been seen for 10 days, Victoria Police said. He has not used his phone or accessed his bank accounts during this time. Bishop was reported missing by his mother on May 29 but had last been seen two days earlier by his housemate. Police were able to track Bishop's mobile phone to a park in Broadmeadows, on a digital trace from May 27. A 'significant' search of the park on June 4 found no further evidence of Bishop, Victoria Police said. His car was located further south on Ridley St at Albion. Bishop's 'associates' told police they thought the car had been stolen from him. 'This was not reported to police,' Victoria Police said. 'At this time, the circumstances of Joshua's disappearance are unclear and police have not been able to rule out that it may be suspicious. 'Investigators and family are increasingly concerned given the passage of time with no contact from Joshua.' Bishop was last seen wearing a black singlet and tracksuit pants. He is Caucasian and described as being of average build with short blonde hair and blue eyes. Police are first appealing to Joshua, hoping he will make contact with police himself if he becomes aware of their public appeal. But investigators are also very keen to speak with anyone who has information about Bishop's whereabouts after May 27. 'From all accounts, his disappearance is incredibly out of character,' Victoria Police acting detective sergeant Matthew Wilson-Hawe said. 'At this stage, we simply don't know what has happened to him. 'The more time passes without us hearing Joshua or getting any information about his whereabouts, the more we believe his disappearance is likely to be suspicious. 'If there is anyone out there with information about Joshua, whether they have heard from him in that time since he was last seen or they have information about his current whereabouts, then we are keen to speak to them.' Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information should contact crime Stoppers.

Adass Israel synagogue fire: Police raid properties in Melbourne's northern suburbs
State and Federal police say they have carried out a number of search warrants in northern Melbourne, after a Ripponlea synagogue was firebombed late last year. Members of the Adass Israel congregation were forced to flee the early morning fire at the synagogue on Friday December 6, 2024, after two masked gunmen set it on fire. Police issued a brief statement about the raids on Friday morning. 'Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police have executed a number of search warrants in Melbourne's northern suburbs this morning as part of the Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) investigation into an arson attack,' the police said. 'At this time there are no further updates and the investigation remains ongoing, with further updates to be provided when appropriate.' Loading Officers renewed their pleas for witnesses and people with footage off the attack to come forward and speak to them. 'This investigation continues to be treated as a priority including the involvement of significant resources across all agencies,' they said. 'The JCTT is also regularly engaging with the relevant communities in relation to the status of the investigation.'

'Incredibly out of character': Police fear Victorian man's disappearance is suspicious
Your web browser is no longer supported. To improve your experience update it here Detectives searching for missing Victorian man Joshua Bishop say they cannot rule out the possibility his disappearance may be suspicious. The 23-year-old was last seen in Lalor Crescent in Sunbury last week, about 9.30pm on Tuesday, 27 May by his housemate. He was reported missing by his mother on Thursday, May 29. Missing man Joshua Bishop. (Victoria Police) Bishop's phone was last used at a park in Broadmeadows on the day he was last seen. Neither his phone or bank accounts have been used since. Police have searched the park with drones and the dog squad, but have found no trace of him. Bishop's white Toyota Corolla was found in Ridley Street, Albion on Wednesday this week. Police say associates have told them the car had been stolen, but this was not reported to police. Although Bishop was not previously known to police and has never gone missing before, investigators say they have been unable to rule out the possibility he was involved in criminal activity or that his disappearance may be suspicious. "At this stage we simply don't know what has happened to him and have increasing concerns for his welfare," Acting Detective Sergeant Matthew Wilson-Hawe said.
