Madbouly inaugurates SE Wiring Systems Egypt's factory in 10th of Ramadan City
Arab Finance: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly has inaugurated SE Wiring Systems Egypt's factory, one of the largest wiring harness manufacturing plants globally, according to a statement.
SE Wiring Systems Egypt is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Europe Ltd.
Located on an area of 150,000 square meters in 10th of Ramadan City, the factory employs more than 12,000 Egyptian workers, with annual exports exceeding €300 million.
Madbouly stated that the project received a gold license in September 2023, while the implementation process began in December. Actual production from the factory started by the end of 2024.
He added that this factory includes a training center that qualifies Egyptian youth to work in the wiring harness production, which opens the door to significant job opportunities for young men and women.
The prime minister noted that women currently represent over 40% of ithis factory's total workforce.

France's Dassault and India's Tata to produce Rafale fuselage in Hyderabad
France's Dassault Aviation and India's Tata Advanced Systems have agreed to manufacture the fuselage of the Rafale fighter aircraft in India, the companies said on Thursday, the first time it will be produced outside France. India, the world's biggest arms importer, has been looking to step up domestic production and boost defence exports, which jumped 12% in the fiscal year to end-March, to $2.76 billion. India also signed a deal in April with France - its second-largest arms supplier - to buy 26 naval versions of the jets for $7 billion, which are expected to be delivered by 2030. The South Asian nation is looking to modernise its military and boost domestic weapons' production, particularly to strengthen its defences against neighbours Pakistan and China. India used fighter jets in four-days of fierce clashes with Pakistan last month, after a deadly attack by Islamist assailants that killed 26 men in Indian Kashmir. Pakistan's defence minister had said three of India's Rafale fighter jets had been shot down during the fighting but did not share any evidence. One U.S. official told Reuters that at least one downed Indian aircraft was a Rafale. Dassault Aviation had declined to comment. India's chief of defence staff told Reuters in an interview last week that India suffered losses in the air, but declined to give details. Remittances from Egyptians abroad surge 82.7% YoY in FY2024/25
Arab Finance: Remittances from Egyptians working abroad rose by 82.7% year on year (YoY) during the period from July 2024 to March 2025 of the current fiscal year 2024/2025, as per a statement from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE). Total inflows reached approximately $26.4 billion, up from around $14.4 billion in the same period last year. The growth trend was also reflected in the third quarter (Q3) of the current FY, with remittances climbing 86.6% YoY to approximately $9.4 billion between January and March 2025, compared to $5.0 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous FY. Egypt's annual headline inflation hits 16.5% in May: CAPMAS
Arab Finance: Egypt's annual headline inflation recorded 16.5% in May, versus 13.5% in April, as reported by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on June 4th. The inflation rate was driven by a 11.2% year-on-year (YoY) jump in food and beverage prices, due to a 16% increase in grains and bread prices and a 10.3% increase in fish and seafood prices. Prices falling under the alcoholic beverage and tobacco segment surged by 15.6% compared to May 2024. Meanwhile, the housing, water, electricity, natural gas, and fuel sector recorded a 19.3% YoY increase in prices.
