Central teacher killed in Valentine's Day crash in Denham Springs
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Central teacher was identified as the person killed in a Valentine's Day crash in Denham Springs.
Central Community School System Superintendent Jason Fountain said Leigh Lobello was a 'beloved teacher' who made a great impact on her students and community. School system spokesperson Delia Taylor confirmed that Lobello was an art teacher at Central Intermediate School.
'Her passion for teaching and her unwavering dedication to her students will not be forgotten,' Fountain said.
Officers responded to the two-vehicle crash around 5:30 p.m. Friday on 4H Club Road near the I-12 overpass.
Counselors will be available for students and faculty at the school this week.

'It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic news of the passing of Mrs. Leigh Lobello, a dedicated and beloved teacher in the Central Community School System for the past eight years. Mrs. Lobello was involved in a car accident on Friday night and tragically lost her life.
'Mrs. Lobello was a cherished member of our school family who made a lasting impact on her students, colleagues, and the entire Central community. Her passion for teaching and her unwavering dedication to her students will not be forgotten.
'Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Lobello's family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The Central Community School System will have counselors available to support our students and staff in the coming days as we grieve this significant loss.
'We ask for privacy for Mrs. Lobello's family as they navigate this tragic time, and we thank our community for their continued support.'

Steiner then admitted to the agent that he managed another child pornography grouponline and that he engaged in hands-on conduct involving a minor. The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Louisiana State Police and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward H. Warner. Baton Rouge woman charged after kids found unattended outside apartment multiple times, officials say
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Police Department recently looked into whether children were left unattended outside of an apartment. The ensuing investigation led to a Baton Rouge woman being taken into custody. Ariana Dedeaux, 20, was charged with child desertion. BRPD responded to an apartment in the 2200 block of College Drive and were told by someone that two children kept exiting the apartment. The children were a 1-year-old and a two-year-old, BRPD said. They were 'found three weeks ago, unattended on the balcony near the home and playing on the outside stairwells,' according to the affidavit. Police were also told that the children were seen in the parking lot without any supervision on Monday, June 2. Residents located the children and took them to the office until Dedeaux was contacted, BRPD said. On Tuesday, June 3, the two-year-old was found again in the parking lot with no one around to watch him. He was taken to the office again by a resident. BRPD went to the children's apartment and found the door open. Dedeaux and someone else were seen asleep at that time, according to the affidavit. She was subsequently arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
