Motorcyclist killed after lorry rams into him at traffic light on Jalan Banting-KLIA
KUALA LANGAT: A man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was rammed by a lorry along Jalan Banting–KLIA here yesterday, in an accident that was caught on video and has since gone viral on social media.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the incident occurred at around 1.30pm while both vehicles were travelling towards KLIA.
"The motorcyclist had stopped at a traffic light intersection when the lorry ploughed into him from the rear.
"The impact of the accident caused the rider to be thrown off the motorcycle before he was pinned under the axle of the lorry," he said in a statement today.
He added that the victim, identified as a man in his 40s, succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
Akmalrizal said police are investigating the cause of the accident, and the lorry involved has been seized for technical inspection.
"The lorry driver has since lodged a report at the district police headquarters, and a statement has been recorded from him.
"We have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving," he said.

The cable pulling with the cops also left a bad impression of this aunty who is clearly used to having things her own way even though she claimed 'we're decent people'. However, a few cautioned that nobody actually knows what sparked the confrontation. There are always two sides to the story. A few things this video brings up. First and foremost, the act of parking in neighbour's porch is a no-no (not to mention parking in front of someone's main gate). In Malaysia, parking in a neighbour's porch is generally illegal under the Road Transport Act 1987. Specifically, Section 48(1) states that any driver causing an obstruction or inconvenience to other road users is liable for a fine and/or imprisonment. Parking in a way that blocks access to a neighbour's property or obstructs the road falls under this category. Obviously, owning a title does not confer immunity from it. Secondly, the details of what caused this quarrel is unknown. But this video highlights the need for proper decorum and civility as anything and everything can now be captured on today's smart phone. Nevertheless, this elderly aunty's boasting of titles and belligerently claiming 'you can be from China, I'm from London' has painted an incredibly poor picture of her regardless of what sparked the confrontation. 'We aren't loafers' she can be heard proclaiming loudly, but this clip has made her look even worse. Online infamy is surely not what she bargained for. – June 8, 2025

Policeman killed in motorcycle accident on NSE
IPOH: A police sergeant was killed while on his way home to Kedah after the motorcycle he was riding skidded at Kilometre 253.7 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) northbound near Kuala Kangsar yesterday. Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said in the incident at about 7.24 pm, the victim Shamsul Ishak, 58, who was attached to the Special Branch of the Kedah contingent police headquarters sustained injuries to his left rib area. 'Further investigations found that when the victim reached the location of the incident, he was believed to have lost control (of the motorcycle) and veered off, crashing into the metal road divider, causing him to be thrown off. The victim, who was severely injured, was taken by ambulance to Taiping Hospital for further treatment. 'However, he was pronounced dead at around 9.24 pm in the hospital's emergency ward,' he said. He also said the victim was believed to have been on holiday and making his way back home to Alor Setar, Kedah after meeting with his friends across the state. He added that further investigations are still ongoing and the case is now being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"He was rushed by ambulance to Taiping Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead at around 9.24pm at the hospital's emergency ward," he said. He added that the victim was believed to be on holiday and was returning to his home in Alor Setar after visiting friends across the state. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
