Watch Shaedon Sharp throw down Dunk of the Year candidate on way to 36 points

NBC Sports27-02-2025

Shaedon Sharp had himself a night.
The third-year wing displayed his freak athleticism and threw down the kind of dunk we wish we had seen in the Dunk Contest. The kind that causes you to gasp watching the highlight alone at home.

Shape wasn't done, he went on to score a career-high 36 points off the bench, leading Portland to a 129-121 road win in Washington.
A career-high 36 points and one of the dunks of the year...

Jordan Poole led the Wizards with 24 in a game between teams headed to the lottery, but in Portland's case there are some players — like Sharpe — who give the team a clear path forward to respectability, at least.

Blazers Hire Quinton Crawford as Assistant Coach

The Portland Trail Blazers have hired Quinton Crawford as an assistant coach on Chauncey Billups' staff, a league source confirmed to Blazer's Edge. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. NBA insider Chris Haynes first reported the news. Advertisement Crawford was the head coach of the Stockton Kings this past season, guiding the club to the 2024-25 NBA G League championship in his first year on the job. Previously, Crawford worked as an NBA assistant coach for five seasons. The stretch included tenures with the Phoenix Suns (2023-24), Dallas Mavericks (2022-23) and Los Angeles Lakers (2019-22). Before joining the Lakers, Crawford served as the head video coordinator and player development coach with the Charlotte Hornets in 2018-19. He also spent a two-year stint with the Orlando Magic, serving as head video coordinator with a role in player development in 2017-18 and as an assistant video coordinator in 2016-17. Crawford started his NBA career as an assistant video coordinator with the Sacramento Kings in 2015-16. Crawford played college basketball at Middlesex Community College from 2008-10 in Edison, New Jersey, before playing for the Arizona Wildcats from 2011-13. He began his post-playing career as a graduate manager and video exchange coordinator for the men's basketball program at Pepperdine University for two seasons from 2013-15. The news of Crawford's hiring Saturday coincided with the news that the Blazers are re-signing assistant coaches Nate Bjorkgren and Ronnie Burrell, as well as analytics coach Jacob Mooallem. NBA Legend Had One Word for Son Dylan Harper's Possible Teams

NBA Legend Had One Word for Son Dylan Harper's Possible Teams originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Rutgers Scarlet Knights guard Dylan Harper is widely projected to be selected No. 2 overall in this year's NBA draft. Back in high school, he was a five-star recruit and No. 3 overall player in the class of 2024 (247 Sports). He played one season at the college level, averaging 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Advertisement On Wednesday afternoon, a Twitter user uploaded a meme suggesting that smaller market teams, such as the Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards and Portland Trail Blazers, could end up with the top guard. "dylan harper getting rerouted to the likes of utah, washington, or portland in the eleventh hour:," the user wrote. Dylan Harper talks to the media during the 2025 NBA Draft Combine.© David Banks-Imagn Images His father, Ron Harper, who is a five-time NBA champion known for his role alongside Michael Jordan during the Chicago Bulls' dynasty, firmly voiced his opinion on the idea of his son starting his professional career on any of those squads."Nope!!!!" Ron Harper replied to the post. Dylan Harper will likely be off the board before the Jazz pick at No. 5, but Utah is still a team to watch. His father and the Bulls had a rivalry with the Jazz in the late '90s, and has been open in the past about not wanting his son to end up in Utah. He's since backtracked on his comments. Advertisement "Stop believe what I said about my son playing in @UtahJazz if me and a friend have a tweet about what team want him it's all about fun…. I don't control my son or a NBA team draft board… lol I see pictures of a few teams that I wouldn't want him on but it's not my career…..," Ron Harper posted. Regardless of what Ron Harper said, the former Rutgers star doesn't seem too concerned about where he ends up, as he expressed sincere gratitude towards his basketball journey. "This is something you dream of as a kid, I've been waiting all my life for this," Harper said at the NBA Draft combine in Chicago.
