Jason Kidd's Blunt Roster Admission Before Mavericks-Kings Game
The Dallas Mavericks will try to keep their season alive in a play-in tournament game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. However, Jason Kidd needs a significant development to happen for them to make it to the playoffs.
After the Mavs traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, several key players suffered injuries. Among them was Kyrie Irving, who went down with a torn ACL. Anthony Davis, the marquee player they got in the Doncic trade, also missed significant time due to his groin and left adductor injuries.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Kidd shared his hope for the minutes restrictions on some players to be eased for the upcoming Mavericks-Kings game. However, Kidd admitted he won't know until right before the game.
"We hope," Kidd stated. 'We'll see what that looks like and see how everybody feels. But that's a real question. And hopefully the answer is yes that some of those restrictions are heightened or taken off. But if they're not, we've been able to handle that and we'll have to handle it if they don't change."

The Mavericks have a number of key players who have seen limited playing time due to their recent return from injuries, such as Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively II and Caleb Martin.

It is also worth noting that Anthony Davis is on the Mavericks' injury report for the Kings showdown. He's listed as probable due to an adductor injury. While he's expected to play, his level of conditioning is certainly a major question mark.
It remains to be seen what the Mavericks' lineup will look like against the Kings. In any case, Jason Kidd and the Mavericks will have to make do with what they have if they want to prolong their season.

"Isiah Thomas would be right there as 1B"- Jason Kidd's candid take on Kyrie Irving being the NBA's undisputed ball-handler
Having impressed us for years with his razzle and dazzle on the court, Kyrie Irving's wizardry with the ball makes him a nightmare for the opposition. The 6'2" guard's deep bag of moves, especially with the basketball in his hand, coupled with his clutch gene, have etched his name in history. A perfect combination of speed, agility and creativity, "Uncle Drew" is arguably the greatest ball-handler the league has ever seen. This discussion also reached "The Dan Patrick Show," with Kyrie's Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd dishing out his take on the matter. Advertisement When asked if anyone had a better handle than Kyrie in NBA history, J-Kidd responded, "I'm gonna say no, but I'm gonna say there's some close seconds when you talk about Detroit Isiah Thomas. Jason Williams (White Chocolate) I thought his handle and his passing is incredible. I think Isiah would be right there as 1B." "Zeke's" dribbling prowess went unnoticed Host Dan Patrick and Jason agreed on the Detroit Pistons legend not getting his due and being extremely underrated, even discussing the possible reasons behind it. Widely considered the second-greatest point guard behind Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas was one of the league's most prominent names in the late '80s. At 6'1", the Pistons star built his legacy on elite scoring, sharp playmaking, leadership, and exceptional ball-handling. Advertisement Among all his abilities, many felt "Zeke's" dribbling abilities didn't get the limelight it deserved. "I think sometimes it's our fault. I don't know if we do a good job of storytelling for Isiah or our past players," stated the now-Mavs head coach. Adding to the 2011 champion's take, host Patrick weighed in, saying, "I think with Isiah, the likability, the way they played, they were the bad boys, you know, they were trying to hurt Jordan. I think that maybe plays into it with Isiah." One could assume that Thomas' feud with Michael Jordan painted him as a villain to a great extent. This rings especially true for the current generation, many of whom primarily associate the Pistons' champion with Netflix's award-winning docuseries, The Last Dance. For them, Isiah's legacy is often filtered through that narrative, overshadowing the full scope of his career and accomplishments. The age-old conspiracy theory that the Pistons guard did not make the 1992 Olympic Dream Team remains a hot topic of debate even today. All assumptions and narratives point towards Jordan despising "Zeke," something the latter only learned about during MJ's docuseries. From how things stand today, reconciliation between the two Hall of Famers looks far from happening. Smith claims Dallas must draft and keep Cooper Flagg Other prominent ball-handlers While J-Kidd mentioned Jason Williams (White Chocolate) apart from "Zeke" as one of his nominees, there are a couple of names that could also make the list for their knack for dribbling past opponents, including Allen Iverson, Tim Hardaway and Stephon Marbury. Talking about current established names, the likes of Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, James Harden and Damian Lillard are popular for their ankle-breaking moves. Looking ahead, budding talents such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ja Morant, LaMelo Ball and Darius Garland have displayed the potential of being top-class ball-handlers for years to come. With their shiftiness and court awareness, these rising guards are well on their way to becoming the next generation of maestros with the ball in their hands. Mavericks' Kyrie Irving shoots back at Tracy McGrady's handles comment
The post Mavericks' Kyrie Irving shoots back at Tracy McGrady's handles comment appeared first on ClutchPoints. Tracy McGrady didn't mean it as a jab, but Kyrie Irving made sure to address it with poise and precision. After McGrady said Jamaal Tinsley had better handles than Kyrie, the Mavericks guard calmly responded on a livestream, turning the comment into a chance to honor the past and remind everyone who's still setting the standard, SI reports. Advertisement 'When I see these things happen, when I see an OG like T-Mac come out and say that, it doesn't bother me,' Kyrie said. 'I'm a mix of all the great players that came before me.' He made it clear he's not driven by comparisons. Still, he followed that humility with truth. 'I just don't think he has the same movement. Jamaal Tinsley was not moving like me. I don't think anybody moves like me.' McGrady shared his take on The Old Man and the Three podcast, praising Tinsley's smooth control and even putting him ahead of Kyrie. It sparked some debate online, but Kyrie didn't lash out. He laughed. He reflected. Then he rolled the tape. Show Him This As highlights of his signature crossovers played, Kyrie explained his point with actions more than words. 'I love [Tinsley] to death, but look at this,' he said, breaking down footage of himself dancing through defenders. 'On a break. On a fast break I'm doing this.' Advertisement Tinsley, the No. 27 pick in the 2001 draft, had flair and skill. But Kyrie, selected No. 1 overall in 2011, redefined what a ball-handler could do on the biggest stages in basketball. His creativity, balance, and rhythm inspired an entire generation of players. Respect to Tinsley. Respect to McGrady. But Kyrie Irving didn't just carry the torch, he spun it behind his back, split a double-team, and laid it off the glass. New York Knicks Are Prepared To Make A "Tsunami-Type" Trade Offer For Giannis Antetokounmpo
New York Knicks Are Prepared To Make A "Tsunami-Type" Trade Offer For Giannis Antetokounmpo originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Ahead of a potentially historic NBA offseason, the New York Knicks are one of many teams looking to make some major roster adjustments. While their flexibility is still somewhat limited, the latest rumblings out of New York indicate they are preparing to make a seismic trade that could help them land their biggest star since Carmelo Anthony. Advertisement "Could there be a Giannis Antetokounmpo-Jason Kidd reunion in New York? There's a report that the Knicks are asking Dallas officials for permission to speak to Kidd about their vacant head coaching position," wrote league insider Gery Woelfel. "Yesterday, I was told the Knicks are preparing to make a tsunami-type offer to acquire Antetokounmpo from the Bucks. Kidd once coached Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee." Fresh off an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks just had their best season in decades, but it still wasn't enough to satisfy their ambitions. After losing 4-2 to the Pacers, the Knicks know that they need some changes to become a championship-level team, but there is still some uncertainty on what those changes will look like. While some are calling for the Knicks to upgrade their supporting cast and bench, it seems they intend to go the other way instead: trade some of their depth for a franchise superstar. At 30 years old, Giannis Antetokounmpo is still in the prime of his career, and he's a player who can take the Knicks to the next level. With his future in Milwaukee growing increasingly unclear, he has emerged as one of the Knicks' primary trade targets this summer, and it's no secret that he may be connected to their recent pursuit of Jason Kidd. With a package centered around Karl-Anthony Towns, Miles McBride, and the Knicks' 2030 first-round pick (in exchange for Giannis and Pat Connaughton from the Bucks), the trade could work for both teams and take them a step closer to their goals next season. The trade would require major sacrifice and risk for New York, but the potential benefits would be franchise-altering with Antetokounmpo's dominating interior presence next to star point guard and Clutch Player of the Year, Jalen Brunson. Advertisement As the biggest market in the league and a team close to contention, it's no surprise that Giannis has an interest in the Knicks, and there's reason to believe he can be very effective there. With averages of 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in the 2024-25 campaign, Giannis is one of the best in the world, and his impact on the court is made in various ways. As an NBA champion, 9x All-Star, 9x All-NBA player, and 2x MVP, Antetokounmpo has already proven himself as a generational athlete, and that's exactly the kind of player the Knicks need to maximize their title chances. After watching their team come so close, only to fail, the Knicks are eager to move up and join the ranks of the Celtics and Pacers as champions of the East, but the cost will be massive. Giannis, meanwhile, gets to have a fresh start with the Knicks and take his brand to the city of New York. There, he can compete for championships with a chance to make franchise history. It'd be a lucrative situation for Giannis, and it may be his best path forward after continued failures with the Bucks.
