Mark Lindquist Law: Victim sues Alaska Airlines
Alleges in-flight sexual assault
SEATTLE, Feb. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today aviation attorney Mark Lindquist filed a lawsuit on behalf of a victim of an alleged in-flight sexual assault committed by an intoxicated passenger on an Alaska Airlines flight.
According to the lawsuit, on May 14, 2023, the victim was flying from Seattle to Honolulu on a trip with her book club. A male passenger sat across the aisle from the victim. Initially, he seemed sober.
Flight attendants continually refilled his glass of red wine, the victim alleges. At one point, he grabbed the victim's hand for an unwanted kiss. Eventually, he passed out.
When he regained consciousness, flight attendants continued to serve him more wine. He became increasingly intoxicated.
Attempting to ignore him, and suffering a headache, the victim covered her eyes with a bag of ice and tried to rest. She reported she was shocked when he forcibly grabbed her right breast and groped her.
Officers met the passenger when he disembarked from the plane. In a report, a deputy sheriff described him as 'very unsteady on his feet and I could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath as he spoke.'
Lindquist's lawsuit alleges negligence, assault, and battery against the perpetrator and negligence against Alaska Airlines for grossly overserving alcohol and failing to protect the victim.
'With this lawsuit, our client hopes for accountability and justice,' said Lindquist. 'She doesn't want drunken sexual assaults happening to others.'
Lindquist is a former elected Prosecutor for Pierce County. He represented dozens of victim families in the two crashes of the Boeing 737 Max 8 and currently represents 34 passengers in the Alaska Airlines Boeing Max 9 door plug blowout.

Unlikely Heroes Former Anti-Trafficking CEO Files Federal Motion to Stop "Hostile Takeover" of Victim Charity by Billionaire-Linked Foundation
LOS ANGELES, June 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In a federal court filing that is raising concerns among nonprofit and survivor advocacy experts, Erica Greve, founder and former CEO of Unlikely Heroes, has filed an emergency motion to halt the proposed sale of estate assets—including confidential survivor records, donor files, and the organization's name, likeness, and mission—to a private foundation connected to a billionaire whose previous lawsuit allegedly resulted in the nonprofit's bankruptcy petition. The motion alleges that Human Investment Foundation (HIF), a Texas-based foundation founded by philanthropist Janet Jensen, former Unlikely Heroes donor and member of Women Moving Millions, is now poised to acquire the very nonprofit it spent years litigating against. HIF has no record of trauma-informed services, yet seeks to take over the nonprofit's identity and gain access to private records of children who experienced severe trauma and received services through Unlikely Heroes' programs. "These are not just documents," said Greve. "They are the medical, psychological, educational, and legal records of children who endured significant trauma. You don't sell that. You protect it with everything you have." Now, HIF could cause the unredacted files of those girls, including their asylum records, safe house addresses, photos and therapy documentation, to be transferred without consent, redaction, or oversight. "This is not just a nonprofit being sold," Greve said. "It risks undermining the trust placed in us by survivors. The very foundation whose lawsuit led to our closure is now trying to wear our name, use our channels, and access our children's deepest traumas while presenting itself as a philanthropic initiative." The motion further alleges that Trustee Sandra McBeth, who is overseeing the Chapter 7 liquidation, failed to provide legally required notice to the California Attorney General's Charitable Trusts Section, in violation of Government Code § 12598 and federal fiduciary obligations. Greve contends this has enabled a rushed and opaque foundation sale to an entity with alleged competing interests and no demonstrated qualifications to handle survivor care. In a further breach, the motion states that formal legal objections submitted by Hon. F. Whitten Peters, former U.S. Secretary of the Air Force and legal counsel for five survivors, were never filed with the Court by the Trustee or her Counsel, prompting concerns about proper court procedure and oversight of due process and legal ethics. Granting the motion would authorize HIF to operate under the Unlikely Heroes brand, initiate direct engagement with survivors, and potentially collect confidential information from trafficking victims under a false nonprofit identity. "This isn't about me," Greve said. "This is about the safety, dignity, and identities of survivors. These children trusted us with their stories, and I will not stand by while that trust is auctioned off." Greve requests that the Court stay the sale, appoint an independent examiner, and refer the matter to the California Attorney General for investigation. She also seeks a court-supervised accounting of donor-restricted funds, which may have been deposited after the nonprofit filed for bankruptcy, in potential violation of standard post-petition procedures. To date, Greve has personally incurred over $500,000 in legal fees defending the nonprofit, its survivors, and the principle that a child's trauma should never be treated as a transferable asset. "This case draws a hard line between protecting survivors and permitting the exploitation of their pain. No court should allow a child's story to be treated as commodities within an organizational transaction." About Unlikely HeroesFounded in 2011, Unlikely Heroes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and restoring child survivors of sex trafficking. The organization has provided long-term housing, trauma-informed therapy, education, and medical care to more than 400 children across the United States, Mexico, the Philippines, Thailand and Nigeria. Among those served were five Nigerian girls who escaped the 2014 Boko Haram kidnapping in Chibok, Nigeria – an event that sparked the global #BringBackOurGirls movement. These survivors were brought to safety in the United States under the legal guardianship of Unlikely Heroes' founder Erica Greve, with the full consent of their families and the U.S. government. BREAKING: Former EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland Sounds Alarm on China, Fentanyl and Putin in New Episode of We're Out of Time Podcast, Tuesday, June 10
Sondland Calls China 'Complicit' In The Fentanyl Crisis, Says President Trump's EU Tariff Threat 'Shut Them Down,' And Predicts Putin Will Gain Land, Unless The U.S. Floods Ukraine With Americans LOS ANGELES, June 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- As We're Out of Time climbs the charts, reaching #3 in Apple Podcasts' Mental Health category and #6 in Health & Fitness, host Richard Taite, a nationally recognized addiction recovery expert and founder and executive chairman of Carrara Treatment and executive chairman of 1 Method, welcomes former U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland. In a headline-making debut, Sondland delivers sharp, behind-the-scenes insight on global flashpoints—from China's role in the fentanyl crisis to Trump's proposed 50% EU tariff to the future of the Russia-Ukraine war. "Having Gordon on the show is a game-changer," said Richard Taite. "This episode gives Americans a rare window into how global decisions are shaping our addiction crisis here at home and what we need to do about it." Known for his raw and unflinching conversations with celebrities, musicians, recovering addicts, and rehabilitation experts, Taite doesn't shy away from hard truths, especially when it comes to fentanyl. He calls Donald Trump "The Fentanyl President" for making the crisis a top priority, and says China's role in supplying precursor chemicals must remain in the spotlight. Headline-making moments from the episode include: 'China Is Complicit': Former EU Ambassador Sondland Says Fentanyl Crisis Is StrategicFormer U.S. Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland says China isn't just looking the other way on fentanyl—"they're complicit." He adds, "I think they're assisting in the effort, not just saying go ahead… You get people hooked or killed on that substance… they don't have to shoot a bullet at an enemy. They let the enemy kill themselves with that drug." Host Richard Taite, calls it a national security issue, based on years of treating veterans unknowingly exposed to fentanyl. "I call him [Trump] the fentanyl president…he's moved fentanyl to the top of the list when he talks about China." Sondland agrees, "At the top of the list whenever he brings up our trade issues with China is fentanyl. He talks about it all the time. They're the number one producer of the precursors…I think he's bringing it out to the top of the agenda." Ex-Ambassador Sondland Warns: Trump's July 9 Tariff Deadline Is Real; 'Essentially Shuts Them Down'Gordon Sondland, former U.S. Ambassador to the EU, breaks down Trump's hardline trade strategy with Europe. "Every president for 40 years has asked the Europeans to drop some of these trade barriers…and they've just tapped the U.S. along and nothing happens. So, for the first time, Trump said 'okay fine, while you're thinking about it, it's a 50% tariff,' which essentially shuts them down. And all of a sudden, within hours…the phone rings — 'okay, okay, okay, we want to talk.'" Sondland says the July 9 deadline is real. "Trump and his team will figure out how to impose them if the Europeans do not relent on some of their protectionist policies. I really believe that." President Trump Insider Predicts Putin Will Take Land, But Says U.S. Needs to 'Flood Ukraine with Americans'Ex-Ambassador Gordon Sondland offers rare insight into President Trump's private diplomacy with Vladimir Putin and predicts how the war in Ukraine could end. "He praises them in public. In private he says things like, I'm paraphrasing, 'Vladimir, you're unbelievable, you live in beautiful palaces, you're worth hundreds of billions…I love it, and I love you. But just remember, if you hit Ukraine, I gotta bomb the sh*t outta you…I probably have to kill you.'" Sondland says the war escalated under Biden's inconsistent strategy and argues even moderate U.S. support could have changed the outcome. Host Richard Taite asks, "So how does this end?" Sondland replies, "Putin sadly is going to wind up with some Ukrainian real estate. But the deal has to be—we flood Ukraine with Americans. Not troops. Business people. Infrastructure builders. Miners. Bankers. And the message becomes: Next time you try it, you're hitting us, not just Ukrainians." Full Episode Drops Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 10 Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube under We're Out of Time. STATEMENT OF ATTORNEY AND FAMILY SPOKESPERSON MICHELLE D. BERNARD Following Open-Casket Memorial for Dr. Marvin Boomer, Jr.
OAKLAND, Calif., June 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Good afternoon, beloved community. We gather here today not merely in mourning, but in righteous indignation. We gather in remembrance—but also in resistance. Because a son of Oakland, a son of this nation, a brilliant Black man named Dr. Marvin Boomer, Jr., has been stolen from us. Now I stand here today not only as an attorney, but as a sister in the struggle. I speak not only as a legal representative, but as a mother, a daughter, a woman who has seen too many families crushed under the weight of injustice. I speak with a heavy heart and a righteous fire, because Marvin Boomer, Jr. should be alive today. He was not caught in a storm of his own making. He was not a suspect. He was not a statistic. He was a scholar, a teacher, a lover of justice, a defender of Black dignity. He was walking with his partner, Nina, when he saw death coming and put her safety before his own. He died a hero. And we will not allow that heroism to be silenced by bureaucratic excuses or policy failures cloaked in blue. So we say his name today: Dr. Marvin Boomer, Jr. And we will keep saying it until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream. Let me be clear: had this happened in Mill Valley, or Tiburon, or Stanford, or Woodside—if this had happened on streets paved with privilege and protection—Marvin Boomer would be alive. But in East Oakland, where Black and Brown lives are too often deemed expendable, the rules were different. The pursuit policies were different. And the consequences, as always, were deadly. This family is not only grieving—they are standing tall. They are saying enough is enough. And I am honored—deeply honored—to represent them in their pursuit of truth, accountability, and justice. So now, I invite you to meet the voices behind the pain and the purpose: His mother, a queen among women, Ms. Tina Boomer. His father, steadfast and courageous, Mr. Marvin Boomer, Sr. His sisters, each a beacon of strength and grace: Tynesha Boomer, Deborah Martin, and Brittany Boomer. And the woman who loved him, and whose life he saved with his last breath, Ms. Nina Woodruff. Hear them. See them. Stand with them. And say his name with us—not just today, but until justice is served. #JusticeForDrMarvinBoomerJr#SayHisName#BlackLivesMatter#NoMoreRecklessPursuits May God bless this family. May God bless this movement. And may Dr. Marvin Boomer, Jr.'s legacy light the path forward—for all of us. Contact:Michelle D.
