BOLOGNA, Italy (Reuters) -Juventus played out a tense 1-1 Serie A draw at top-four rivals Bologna on Sunday, as the visitors missed the chance to cement fourth place in the chaotic race for Champions League qualification.
With leaders Napoli and Inter Milan locked in a fierce battle for the title on 77 and 74 points respectively, and Atalanta holding third with 68, attention is turning to the increasingly tense scrap for the final Champions League spot.
Juve sit fourth with 63 points, level with AS Roma and Lazio in fifth and sixth, while Bologna are seventh, one point behind, with three rounds remaining.
Khephren Thuram gave Juve a flying start after nine minutes, picking up the ball outside the box, spotting a gap in the Bologna defence and drilling a low shot that slipped beneath keeper Lukasz Skorupski.
Bologna levelled nine minutes into the second half, as Remo Freuler capitalised on a scrappy sequence following a cross and fired the ball home for a share of the spoils.

He had been set on becoming a professional footballer as a child and as a teenager he joined Manchester United as a trainee, forming part of the class of '92 that won the FA Youth Cup, along with Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville. The sports star from north east London made his Premier League debut for United in 1995 and was part of the team that earned a dramatic Champions League final victory in 1999 when they beat Bayern Munich with two late goals. In total he scored 85 goals and collected honours including six Premier League titles and two FA Cups as a footballer, before retiring from the sport in 2013. Alongside his football career Beckham has supported a number of charity causes and launched a fundraising appeal for Unicef in April ahead of his milestone 50th birthday. He has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for humanitarian aid organisation Unicef since 2005 and is a founding member of the charity Malaria No More UK's leadership council. (EPA Images pic) PISA : Filippo Inzaghi has left his role as Pisa manager by mutual consent, the Serie A club said today, with the coach moving on just weeks after leading the Tuscan side to promotion from Italy's second tier. Inzaghi, older brother of Simone who recently left Inter Milan to manage Saudi club Al-Hilal, took Pisa back to the top flight after an absence of 34 years in his first season at the club. The 51-year-old former Italy striker began his managerial career at AC Milan where he ended his playing days, taking charge at the San Siro for one season before earning promotion from the third tier with Venezia. Inzaghi, who also brought Benevento up to Serie A, is now widely expected to become manager of Serie B club Palermo, according to Italian media reports.

Inter striker Taremi stranded in Iran amid conflict

(EPA Images pic) MILAN : Inter Milan forward Mehdi Taremi has been stranded in Tehran due to the conflict between Iran and Israel and will miss the start of the Fifa Club World Cup, the Italian club confirmed today. Taremi was in Iran last week on international duty, scoring in a 3-0 victory over North Korea in a World Cup qualifying game. However, the 32-year-old was unable to get a flight to join his Inter teammates in Los Angeles due to the ongoing confrontation between Iran and Israel. An Inter source confirmed to AFP that Taremi was stranded in his homeland. Inter open their Club World Cup campaign against Mexican side Monterrey on Tuesday at the Pasadena Rose Bowl east of Los Angeles. The opener marks the first game in charge of new Inter coach Cristian Chivu, who was named on Monday as the successor to Simone Inzaghi, who left following the club's 5-0 drubbing against Paris St-Germain in the Champions League final. Speaking at an introductory press conference at the team base in Beverly Hills yesterday, Chivu said Inter were ready to bounce back from the double disappointment of just missing out on the Serie A title as well as the Champions League final. The 44-year-old former Romanian international said Inter could look back on the season with pride. 'We shouldn't forget this team's journey – it was a great season,' Chivu said. 'This team has great quality. They got right to the end but they didn't get the trophies. It wasn't a failure of a season. 'We knocked out Bayern and Barca in the Champions League. We were top of the league, one of the best in Europe, for a long time. So we cannot forget this. Failure doesn't exist in football. Failure is making excuses.'
