Ulrika Jonsson shares powerful before-and-after photos as she celebrates one year of sobriety
Ulrika Jonsson has celebrated one year without alcohol by sharing before-and-after photos on Instagram.
The TV presenter, 57, told her social media followers that sobriety will 'continue to be [her] priority' and thanked her children and close friends for supporting her.
Gladiators star posted a recent photo showing her looking healthy, labelled '#sober', and also shared an older selfie in which she appeared bleary-eyed and messy-haired, which she labelled '#drunk'.
'Today I'm marking 1yr of sobriety,' she captioned her post. 'No fanfare, no medal, no trophy. The journey goes on.
'A huge thanks to all those beautiful people who have supported me; understood me; scooped me up and handled me tenderly and without judgement; who nudged me in the right direction; who made me laugh and helped me shed the crippling shame.'
Jonsson went on to share a special message to her four children, Cameron, 30, Bo, 25, Martha, 20, and Malcolm, 17.
'Thank you to my kids for their support; for having faith in me after I must have worried them so,' she wrote, before also praising her 'close friends for their patience and belief'.
'My sobriety will continue to be my priority,' she continued, before joking: 'Turns out it IS possible to teach old dogs new tricks.'
Jonsson's celebrity friends shared messages of encouragement and congratulations, with former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona writing: 'So bloody proud of you my darling miss and love you all the world.'
Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton wrote: 'So happy for you darling.'
In a post which coincided with six months of sobriety in December, Jonsson previously revealed she reached a point where she could 'no longer recognised [her]self' just before she decided to quit drinking.
'On the 5th June 2024, I had the gift of desperation and reached out for help,' she wrote. 'I no longer recognised myself and I surrendered.'
'Many people have asked me how I've done it and all I can say is that no woman is an island – I have not done this alone,' she continued.
'The willingness to give up alcohol came from me, yes, but without support of friends, family and my new tribe, I would not have made it this far.'

Last year, Trooping the Colour marked the Princess of Wales's first public appearance of 2024 as she recovered from cancer. Dressed in coordinating navy and white outfits, the family gathered with King Charles, Queen Camilla, Duchess Sophie, Prince Edward, Lady Louise, Princess Anne and other extended family members for the first time in public since Christmas 2023. In May, the Wales children attended a very different parade and flypast as they marked the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. Although the trio didn't join their parents for the other VE Day events, Prince George did get to make a special solo visit with Prince William and Princess Kate to meet veterans at a palace tea party—and get a taste of his life as the future King. Along with Trooping—and maybe a trip to Wimbledon—the Wales kids will enjoy summer out of the spotlight during their annual vacation to Balmoral. And now that there are new puppies in their household, plenty of walks at their country house, Anmer Hall, are most likely high on their summer schedule.

Kyiv Pride drone charity event takes place, faces counterprotest
A charity event for Kyiv Pride took place on June 7 outside the Foreign Ministry building and was met with a nearby counterprotest. The event collected donations, with proceeds going toward FPV drones for Ukraine's Armed Forces provided by the Serhiy Sternenko Foundation. On April 19, a clash broke out between police and far-right protesters outside the Zhovten cinema in Kyiv, where the Sunny Bunny LGBTQ+ film festival took place. "This is a cultural and educational charity event. Today we will have several educational lectures, during which we will collect money for drones," Kyiv Pride organizers told local media. Counterprotesters stood nearby, chanting anti-LGBTQ+ slogans as the Kyiv Pride charity event took place outside the Foreign Ministry building. Kyiv Pride's previously planned event was cancelled amid police pressure on the National Expo Center of Ukraine (VDNG), the event organizers said. "This year, the police did everything they could to cancel our event. They even intimidated the management of VDNG — the National Expo Center of Ukraine... Unfortunately, under such pressure, VDNG made the decision to cancel our event," Kyiv Pride said in a post to Facebook on June 6. Public support for LGBTQ+ rights in Ukraine has grown in recent years, but the community continues to face frequent threats and violence, particularly from far-right groups. Events such as Pride marches and queer cultural festivals are often targeted by the far right. A 2023 poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology found that over 70% of Ukrainians believe LGBTQ+ people should have the same rights as others. Prince William Says Family Can Be a "Mixed Bag" Amid Rift With Prince Harry

Before he stepped down as a senior working royal, insiders thought Prince Harry—who trained as an Army Air Corps pilot in 2009—would become the future colonel-in-chief of his former regiment. Instead, the role was given to Prince William by The King, and on June 4, the Prince of Wales made his first official visit to the regiment in Wattisham, Suffolk. During one conversation, Prince William appeared to make a rare reference to his family life amid his estrangement from brother Prince Harry. Per the Daily Mail, Prince William asked a group of soldiers, "Is the pace of life good at the moment?" After one told him it was "a mixed bag," the Prince of Wales replied, "Families okay? See you enough? Some of them might not want to see you that much. It's a mixed bag sometimes." The last time the brothers were publicly seen interacting was during a joint walkabout with Meghan Markle and Princess Kate after Queen Elizabeth died in 2022. Prince Harry's military appointments were taken away when he stepped away from royal life, making it impossible for him to be made colonel-in-chief of his former regiment. King Charles—who served in the role for more than 30 years—officially passed the title down to Prince William in May 2024. Prince William worked as a helicopter pilot for the RAF search and rescue team and East Anglian Air Ambulance before he become a senior working royal, and he wasted no time taking a wildcat helicopter up for a spin during his visit. The prince chatted about helicopters with some of the soldiers' children, like 6-year-old Archie Foster and his 8-year-old sister, Ida. "Which do you like the most?" William asked. "The apache? You like the apache? Your dad does a very important job here." As for Ida, she deemed her encounter with the future King, "amazing." "I loved it. This is going to be the best thing of my whole entire life," she said. "I'm going to write it in a book."
