JSO said it responded to the scene around 2 P.M., where officers found a man in his late 30s with one gunshot wound to the chest.
Employees from a coffee shop next door told Action News Jax that they heard multiple gunshots while in the parking lot just before police arrived.
The man was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital by fire rescue, but did not survive.
JSO said Wednesday evening that its investigation revealed the man was there for a meeting of some kind.
Three people of interest were detained for interviews, but it's unclear if any of them were the shooter. JSO said it was still looking for one vehicle of interest, a black four-door car that may be a Nissan. The car left the parking lot and drove southbound on Southside Boulevard.
Anyone with information on the shooting or suspects involved is asked to reach out to JSO or Crime Stoppers.

Neighbors say they had no water for hours during construction project in DeKalb neighborhood

A huge sewer project is causing problems for some DeKalb County neighbors. They said they had no water for hours Wesnesday, and the water pressure was low. They said when it finally came back on, the loud construction noise was 24 hours a day. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] This project is larger than it looks from the street. NewsDrone 2 flew over the massive project that's strictly to repair Atlanta's sewer system. However, the blocked-off streets, Glenwood Avenue and Terry Mill Road, are in DeKalb County. When neighbors lost water Wednesday, it wasn't because of the work being done. The water went out when a contractor made a mistake. Catherine Moore lives across the street from this sanitary sewer project. She's aware of Metro Atlanta's aging infrastructure and understands workers have to dig up roads to make important sewer repairs. She says her issue is that her neighborhood got zero notice when water was cut off on Wednesday and little notice about the project. 'They gave us about three hours' notice that it was going to be 24/7 construction, only stopping on Sundays. We had no time to think about (what to) or want to go somewhere else. As you can hear in the background, it's a full-blown construction site and that's happening at 2 a.m. as well as in the middle of the afternoon right now,' Moore told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernades. Fernandes spoke with directors of both watershed management departments and learned that it is strictly Atlanta's sewer project; however, DeKalb is in charge of notifying neighbors. Moore says both municipalities need to do a better job of communicating. She hopes the 24-hour construction noise is worth it in the end and doesn't last longer than projected. 'Apparently they can have some variance and do whatever they want to bypass the noise ordinance laws,' Moore said. A spokesperson for the city of Atlanta expects the project to continue for about three more weeks. [SIGN UP: WSB-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter]

Police continue investigation into a quadruple shooting at a Northwest Jacksonville apartment

Action News Jax is working to get answers about a quadruple shooting that killed an 18-year-old in Magnolia Gardens. It happened around 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Vista Landing Apartments on Cleveland Road. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, all of the victims are between the ages of 16 and 21. The person who was killed was just 18 years old. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< 'It's just sad because they should have been on the basketball court or at a baseball game enjoying the summer time,' said AJ Jordan, with MAD DADS, a community anti-crime organization. Jordan was devastated to hear not only about the shooting at Vista Landing Apartments but also two others in the city last night. One of those happened on Vernon Road, and police said a masked man jumped a fence into a backyard, then walked to the front yard where he shot a man several times, then ran off. That all happened about a mile away from Cleveland Road. [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] We asked JSO if those shootings are connected, but they said that it is still under investigation as well. Jordan encourages parents to sit down with their kids and have open conversations to try and prevent gun violence. 'Just talk to your children, see what's going on with them, and just don't let them give you yes or no,' said Jordan. Action News Jax learned the complex normally has off-duty officers, but none were there at the time of the shooting. [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter] JSO said that no officers were scheduled to work that day, and the hours that the off-duty officers are present on the property vary based on the requests made by the complex's management. The circumstances that led to the shooting are under investigation. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video in the hopes of finding clues. JSO is asking anyone with information to contact them at 904-630-0500 or email jsocrimetips@ You can also give an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
