College football expert names how Georgia's top spring transfer can become dominant

College football expert names how Georgia's top spring transfer can become dominant A team's success, particularly in exceeding expectations, often hinges on its capacity to transform perceived weaknesses into strengths. Under Kirby Smart, Georgia has excelled at this, notably with their defensive backfield in 2021 and weapons on the offensive side of the football in 2022. SEC Network's Cole Cubelic anticipates that the Georgia Bulldogs will once again excel at the edge rusher position in 2025. Despite significant talent losses to the NFL draft, including first-round picks Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker, as well as transfer portal departures Damon Wilson (Missouri) and Samuel M'Pemba (Texas A&M), Cubelic holds high expectations for two specific Georgia players at that spot. One of them is Gabe Harris, who is entering his third season with the team. The other, Elo Modozie, joined Georgia less than a month ago, transferring from Army. 'You go get Elo Modozie, who we talked about in our impact-transfer list a couple of weeks ago, I think has the ability if he can add eight to 12 pounds before he enters the season, he can be as dominant of an edge defender as there is in this league,' Cubelic on a recent episode of his podcast, "The Cube Show". 'And trust me, we're about to get to some real edge guys in the next two groups. He has that kind of twitch, that kind of motor, that kind of ability. He has that kind of just get off and want to. As anybody I've seen in the nation, that kid's got it.' The 6-foot-3, 245-pound outside linebacker recorded 6.5 sacks last season with Army. Modozie adding some weight would help him stop the run. Then there's Gabe Harris, who stands out as the Bulldogs' most experienced returning edge player. Gabriel missed spring drills due to a shoulder injury. He's waited for his opportunity behind talents like Mykel Williams, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, and Chaz Chambliss. Cubelic is also highly impressed with Harris' playing style. Harris is coming to a situation where he can play himself into being a high NFL draft pick if he performs well.
