Kouka off the mark as Le Havre edge Lille to boost Ligue 1 survival hopes - Talents Abroad
Egyptian striker Ahmed 'Kouka' Hassan returned to his scoring form by opening the scoring in his fourth appearance for Ligue 1 side Le Havre in 2-1 win over Lille on Saturday.
The 31-year-old broke the deadlock in the 38th minute, slotting home a close-range right-footed finish after connecting with a headed assist from Senegalese forward Issa Soumaré.
Soumaré later doubled Le Havre's lead in the second half, before Lille managed to score a consolation goal deep into injury time.
Kouka joined Le Havre during the January transfer window on a short-term deal until the end of the current season after his contract with Portuguese club Rio Ave was terminated, even though it was set to run until June 2025.
Despite the victory, Le Havre are still fighting to avoid relegation from France's top flight, currently sitting second from bottom in the league table with 17 points from 21 matches.
Le Havre's next game sees them face Nice, who also have Egyptian defender Mohamed Abdelmonem in their squad.

Rana Atef On Sunday, the highly anticipated 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will kick off in the USA. This edition is the first one to include a 32-team. The opening game will be between Egypt's Al Ahly and USA's Inter Miami. Al-Ahly The most successful and decorated team in Egypt and Africa, as well as one of the most successful in the world. The Cairo giants are the second team with most continental titles in the world after Real Madrid. The Cairo club has dominated in recent years, winning three consecutive league titles and in the past four years, Al Ahly won three CAF Champions League titles. They are also the first Arabic team to win a FIFA club title. The team's coach is Jose Riveiro and he was appointed few weeks before the tournament. Al Ahly had an active transfer window before the tournament as they signed Egypt international and football icon Mahmoud Hassan Trézéguet, Zizo from Al Zamalek, ES Tunis icon and star Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan, Hamdy Fathy, and Ahmed Ramadan Beckham. Inter Miami The most known team in MLS after signing one of the top two active football legends, Lionel Messi. The team are qualified for the tournament as the hosts' representatives. 'I have left a big piece of my heart at Brentford', says new Spurs boss Frank - World
Thomas Frank said on Friday he had "left a big piece of my heart" at Brentford after taking on the daunting task of reviving Tottenham's Premier League fortunes. Spurs announced the Dane as their new head coach on a three-year deal on Thursday, as a replacement for the sacked Ange Postecoglou. Frank, 51, won 136 of his 317 matches across a seven-year spell at Brentford, taking them into the Premier League in 2021. In an emotional message posted on Brentford's website Frank said: "The time has come for me to move on. But, even as I leave, I know I have left a big piece of my heart at Brentford, not just at the football club but with the community and, of course, the incredible and loyal supporters. "I want to extend my profound gratitude to the club for giving me the chance to pursue my dreams and for everyone involved who made the journey such a memorable one." He said it had been a privilege to be allowed to be part of such a "special community". "Whatever we have achieved, we have achieved together, and our success is built on unity, spirit, courage and ambition at every level of the club and amongst the fans," he said. "Everybody has contributed, and every contribution has been invaluable. I am not just leaving a football club, I am saying goodbye to friends whose support through good and bad times I will carry with me always." Frank, who becomes Tottenham's fourth permanent boss since 2021, is tasked with lifting the club back among the Premier League's elite. Spurs will play in the Champions League next season thanks to their Europa League success in Bilbao, where they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final. Their first European trophy for 41 years delivered on Postecoglou's boast that he always wins silverware in his second season. However, the Australian paid the price for a miserable Premier League season in which Tottenham finished 17th after losing 22 of their 38 games.
